Except I also had this rogue. I play on an RP server, so he's got a bit of backstory--he was one of the forest troll slaves in the mine in Kezan, he's got a wolf pup pet that he loves to bits. He's recently done a bit of searching and found out what tribe he's from (Vilebranch) and, well, I wanted his wolf pup to grow up. <.< So I did a bit of character shuffling, moved over the lowbie that was hoarding all my hunter heirlooms, and race-changed her into him.
That was just the beginning. I couldn't play him in character again til he had his wolf, so I went out and tamed the first thing I came across, one of the derpy-looking yellow-green scorpids, and got to leveling with every intention of abandoning it as soon as I found something else tamable. Somehow, though, the little scorpid won me over--probably because I had PetEmote turned on, and scorpids have the most unbelievably cute/pathetic emotes. He stuck by my side from 26 to 32--all in one night, which is quite an accomplishment for me... and then died tragically saving my troll from some Crown Agents on the way into the Hinterlands. I took the opportunity to abandon him (because I couldn't do it with those little legs waving at me, and since the trip was OOC I would have no excuse to keep him around). I have a feeling he may be making a reappearance in minipet form, though, and growing into a real pet again over time.
The next challenge was finding the wolf I wanted to tame. All I could remember was that it was somewhere in the Hinterlands, and I rode around kiting everything I came across until I remembered that I'd seen one near the Altar of Zuul when I was exploring a few days ago. I headed over there--and mobs kept getting in my way. I killed a few, but I'd promised myself that I'd find a way to do this without killing any of the Vilebranch trolls there, so I kept having to run away and sneak back. Tamed a grey wolf to clear some of the wolves and owlkin out, was getting ready to give in and start fighting off trolls...
...and then walking out from between the trees came one of the Vilebranch Wolf Pups, no trolls in sight. I abandoned the grey wolf and tamed as quick as I could, certain I would end up being attacked while I was casting. But nope, everything went off perfectly.
So here they are, Jol (Jolthan in-game til his original name comes off cooldown) and Mawly, right after taming.
Just the right amount of excitement, panic, and perfect timing to be an awesome taming adventure--this was the most fun I've had in-game in ages. I think I'm going to enjoy playing Jol as a hunter; he was definitely meant to be one.
I'm glad those two found eachother at last hehe ^^
