Yellow Amani Dragonhawk?

Unread post by Noba »

Well, I'm rather embarrassed to be asking this... But I really would like to tame one of these cute yellow dragonhawks. I have never been to "Zul Aman" before, have no idea where it is and what requirements for entry are. Wowhead doesn't have any form of map indicating where within ZA these beasts are, either. I was hoping some of you could point me in the right direction please?

Thank you very much!!

I am not sure about what the requirements are, or where exactly within ZA they are (been awhile since I've been there!) but it is in the Ghostlands - southeastern corner. :)

The raid is in the Ghostlands, southeast. You need to be atleast 70 and in a raid to enter. There are no prequests or anything, you can just go in :)

As for the dragonhawks, not quite sure. But I'm sure you will see them once you enter :) Just use Eagle eye (if allowed) or track beasts.

Zul'Aman is a level 70 raid that can be one or two manned I believe. It's located in Ghostlands.

As to where inside of ZA these beauties are, I don't know since I haven't gone looking for them. =(

I don't remember where they are exactly, other than the hatchlings from one boss fight (Jan'Alai) and some are with the groups on the far right pathway heading to JAn'Alai (there are some jerk scouts you want to kill before they bang some gongs and call more adds).
There is no requirement to get in there other than having a raid group and being 70+. It's been a long time since I've actually gone through the whole raid instance, and the last time I was there I was merely farming Mojo on my hunter.

Edited:Slammed his name in there since I forgot it :P

Zul'Aman is a level 70 raid instance in southeastern Ghostlands. You'll find them around Jan'alai's area - he's the dragonhawk boss. I believe there are some dragonhawks in the trash leading up to him.

Not to be obvious, but I believe they're in trash packs near the Dragonhawk boss. I don't know for sure, but since the bears are by the bear boss and the lynxes by the lynx boss, it makes sense. Traditionally Jan'alai is killed third for the sake of time, but I'm pretty sure you can run directly to him/snag a dragonhawk/leave.

Have a look at: http://www.wowpedia.org/Zul%27aman#Walkthrough

After opening the gate (speak to Harrison Jones and bang on the gong once, don't move till the bang progress bar is done), you'll want to down the Bear Boss. From the gate entry, he's off to the right. The dragonhawks are just past his area and should hopefully all be yellow and pink now. You won't need to down the dragonhawk boss to get to them.

Wow! Thank you all so much for the fast responses! I'm very pleased I do not need to do a bunch of quests and key business to get in. I'm now off to locate a new buddy hopefully! :)

Yeah you dont need to kill the Bear boss. You just need to clear his trash up to the cross over (Temple Area). I picked mine up today when servers came up I was able to solo all of it at 85 in BM. There is trash that has 1 Humaniod with 2 Dragonhawks. Let you pet tank the humanoid til hes dead then dismiss or abandon and start to tame the dragonhawk. None of the trash did any real damage so you should be able to just tame right off the bat.

I just ran in and tamed one today. You need to be level 70 to enter and tame (the mobs are level 70), but I would recommend being 85 to solo tame. You can be in and out in a handful of minutes, and skip almost all trash if you are max level. You do not have to be very geared... I did it in quest gear and a few rep items. You can probably solo it at 80 if you are so inclined, it will just be a bit slower. You can do it at any spec (I did it survival today but on beta when I would check on them I was BM) with any pet really, as you're only pulling a few groups of trash which pose little danger to a cataclysm level pet (doesn't even have to be max level, mine was 82).

When you ring the gong, you have to kill the guys that spawn. There are two elites and a dozen or so nonelites.

Mount up. Go down the ramp and to your right. As you approach, the bear boss (Nalorakk) will yell and send some guys after you. Do NOT dismount right away. Rather, head into the are he yells from and up the ramp that is behind him, then down the other side of the ramp, completely bypassing the bear area. At this point, dismount and kill them (feign will also send them back, but they will come after you again when you get in combat with any of the dragonhawk trash, so I just kill them. They are not hard and do not have a lot of hp). Since you are on the far side of the Bear area, you have already passed the area that triggers the next wave of trash, so they won't come until you cross that area on your run out.

Now, at the entrance to the dragonhawk area there is a lone Amani scout. You can kill him or bypass him. I usually just kill him because he dies in one shot. If you pull him and let him run to the nearby drum, he will call adds, so don't let him do that. (They aren't hard, just adds more time).

Next, there is a pack of 3-4 humanoids that you will come to in front of you and another pack a bit to the right. You can, at 85, run between these packs without aggroing them. After that, you will come to the dragonhawk pack. There are three dragonhawks, a tamer, and a scout. If you are 85, you can just take the hits and hit tame, then dismiss pet when it's done, then feign death to send everything back (including the adds summoned by the scout). At 80, you will want to trap one dragonhawk, kill the scout and then the rest of the group, then dismiss pet and tame. Remember, you can now pop deterrance before hitting tame to negate all incoming damage for several seconds of the tame cast.

Congratulations on your new gorgeous dragonhawk :D
I went to tame the Sunwell blue one myself, the yellow is lovely, but blue is among my favorite colors.

The hawks are a little bit from the Bear boss (you don't have to fight'em). I was able to tame one earlier today on my Troll hunter. Pretty entertaining tame since he's only at 70, so I needed to grab my second account to clear trash and leave one mob.

I have the sunwell one - my hubby helped me by dying while trying to tank the rest of the mobs while I tamed hahaha. I love him- he's willing to do crazy things to help me get pets if I want them! He said he'd help me get the ZA one next -I'm excited for it! Grats on your pretty new dragonhawk!
