Help! losing interest!

Re: Help! losing interest!
Or while playing WoW Ill doodle away while waiting for randoms or a spawn.
There are some mini game addons you can get to like the ones on curse I use to have the Peggle one during Wrath mainly as I would fall a sleep during raids D:

Re: Help! losing interest!
Try things you don't normally do. Normally a PVE-er? Try a little PVP. Normally a healer? Roll a baby tank. Learning new ways to do things is not only useful but might keep you engaged since it's not 'same old, same old.'
As for me though...sometimes, it really DOES help to just take a break. I am an on-again-off-again player. I usually play straight through for a couple months, then lose interest for a few weeks to a month, then come back. It's refreshing to take a break and do different things, then come back and find myself REALLY getting into the game again.
Whatever you decide to do, hope it works for you

Re: Help! losing interest!
I always tend to lose interest in the game every now and then. I'll just take a week-two weeks off, and then play for a month. Now in Cata I find that it's dropped to one week playing per two weeks not playing. :/

Re: Help! losing interest!
The thing is that for the times you really don't feel like playing, don't. If you feel like you are forcing yourself, then it's work and not a game and you'll be doing more damage than good.
You're better off going and playing some console game, getting some work done around the house, doing some chore/duties that you've been procrastinating on then forcing yourself to play WoW while continuing to procrastinate on RL things.
For when you feel more "hmmm maybe I could play??? I dunno" kind of moods, then yes, make an alt, pvp, do the achievement/questing, go find a rare, work on some toons professions, who knows. The game is so large there's pretty much an unlimited amount of things to do, but if you are forcing yourself it doesn't matter how many things there are out there to keep you busy, you're just going to make yourself sick of the game and burn yourself out.
I go through this a lot because of raiding. So what I'll do is any of the above I previously stated, or step away do other things around the home and play some console game I've been putting off (going back to Dragon Age right now since Dragon Age 2 is coming out soon). This way when it comes to raid time I'm not wanting to shoot myself in the head to log on.
Don't get me wrong, I love downing content, just when you're in that mind set you'll find anything negative to ruin the experience. If you don't have a raid to tie you to the game specifically, then of course, like it's been stated, taking a small vacation from it can do wonders.
Near the end of Wrath my guild was done with all raid content, I was bored, so I took Mearra out rare hunting, when that was done...I levelled alts on completely different servers (pvp ones at that) to have a different experience overall. It was easy to level toons on my server, I had heirlooms, I could craft things for my alts, they've have the best gear and friends could help out when things got rough...and no ganking. On a new server without knowing anyone? Totally new experience and oddly enough...a bit of a relief when you don't have people constantly poking at you to do something for them. I think at one point I only logged on for raids while I went and played through a bunch of other games again (Assassins Creed etc) and went to other friends houses to nerd out in different ways.
Hope you find something to keep you going

Re: Help! losing interest!
Adjust your time off for your boredom level. The greater the boredom the more time off needed.
Just to keep things fun though I hunt rares, run dungeons /heroics just for giggles, achievements, even playing in the AH looking for things to wear even if I don't need them. Another thing is be in an active guild and do things with them. That will help a lot.

Re: Help! losing interest!
I know they have done soooo much work improving quests, graphics, implementing better ways of doing things, etc... but that does not necessarily mean that there are more things to do, once your reach lvl cap anyway. Upon making things easier and more stream lined has actually made it easier and thus faster to even get through content.Saturo wrote:Cata is a boring expansion overall.
Now I'm all for making things work better, but I feel with this expansion that it has come at a cost of content, and have to agree with Sat's on this one. Lately my wow gaming experience has been made up of 80% of going back and doing old world content. Grinding out reputations, collecting mounts, running old instances for fun/vanity items.
These are the things one does generally at the end of an expansion when there is little left to do, not at the beginning. For those thinking (well have you completed all the raids on heroic and got all BIS gear? well no you haven't finished anything) sorry, but my guild is just not there as we are all a little disillusioned but this random onset of boredom at the moment.
I know, each to there own, but still, I am finding it easier and easier not to log on at times.

Re: Help! losing interest!
I've already started to get to that point. Raiding can be fun but after awhile you get sick of going into the same place every single week doing the same thing..It's to repetitive and it's the same thing. You kill a boss to get gear so you can kill another boss faster or get more gear. Rinse and repeat. In wrath I always found something to do other then raids.. Cata.. I don't know what it is but I just get bored...Benzin wrote:What are somethings you guys do to keep interested in wow when you start getting bored by it?

Uh.. Not very constructive if I can be honest. Let's not turn Petopia into MMO-Champ.Ketchaeatcha wrote:Log on and post replies in losing interest threads
I very recently decided to take a break from raiding. The content tasted stale and I and my guild mates were overly stressed out. Like one of our raiders said, when he was grinding herbs for 3 hours for a weapon enchant "wth am I doing this for.. This is not fun anymore". I want to get back that "new" feeling what WoW was for me when I started years and years ago. I want to enjoy the game again.
I've decided to transfer my main to an RP server. I've enjoyed roleplaying in the past and met very many fun people and made lots of friends. If you're interested in story telling, I'd suggest you give roleplaying servers a try.

WoW is a hobby I don't want to give up on just yet. I don't want to lose the social aspect and it's one of the few hobbies I've got at the moment.
