Anyone else get whispers from jealous hunters?

I rarely got comments. I think...Krush, my oil stained wolf, and my silithid ravager got the most comments. But I never got anything hateful.

Whenever I see a neat pet (Krush, Karoma, Sambas, Terror, etc.) I'll /cheer the pet and /cheer the hunter.

I had a ton, I mean an absolute TON, of whispers about Skoll. I had the server-first tame on him, and let's be honest, he really stands out! It got so that I actually made a macro to reply. I went on Thottbot to add to my post about where I'd found him, to basically say "you will get a lot of whispers," and while I was typing, got no less than THREE more whispers!

Obviously it's died down now; there's a lot of sparkly pets out there, and most of them are commonly seen as hunter's pets. The only other one I've gotten a lot of comments on was my pet worgen. I miss him

After Skoll, I got over my excitement at wanting pets that would garner attention. Having to reply & explain about it so damn much made it more tiresome than anything, although the occassional /w is nice. I'm just as happy with my Shango, Ochre, by my side as I am with Shiver, my Karoma.

I've never had anyone whisper me anything MEAN, though, just curious--and I'll always tell them everything they want to know!

I get comments about Chromaggus. I think I had the server first tame on Moon Guard with him on Lisaara.

I mostly forget I have a pet out. They're just a part of the character! My buddies! I've gotten one 'I want Sambas... why did YOU get him...' type tell to which I responded: 'Same reason I get loot. Stupidest hunter wins! '

The only hateful whisper I got from another hunter was soon after I tamed Terrorpene. I guess he came around while I was already taming him and wasn't too happy he just missed him. All I said was "sorry" and I had to ignore him because he was swearing his head off at me. =/

Otherwise, the whispers I usually get is "cool pet" or "where did you get that pet?"

I've received my share of comments, particularly when I got skoll and arcturis (one of the first on the server so not many people had seen them yet). I also had to make a macro to hit because it was crazy at first. Only one time do I remember anyone saying I hate you to me and it wasn't serious. Mostly I don't get any whispers anymore unless it's from another hunter who has the same thing and will comment generally "omg I have her/him too, love that pet!"
The most recent one that made me laugh was a pug rogue in a heroic. I had chromaggus out and he was freaking. He didn't realize it was tameable and just loved it. In fact, I also had a warrior follow me around not long ago and compliment him too.
Mostly if I get a comment these days, it's friendly.

I dont normally get whispers but rather emotes and well, theres a lot of greifers of the opposite faction heh... i flew over to look at Mahamba's spawn since Pogeyan had spawned and i wanted to find Mahamba a home before someone killed and i never even noticed the night elf below me emoting at me some pretty rude remarks and i flew down and popped out Pogeyan, then popped out my croc Gosh-Haldir and the dude thought it was Mahamba and flipped at me ROFLOL ahhhha good times, good times~

I can't remember off hand any negative/hateful comments about any of my pets. I've only gotten positive/praising comments with occasional /pet, /hug, /cheer, etc on them. The emotes to my pet always bring a little bit of a smile.

I'll often run with Malachovian (Loque) out. I get a lot of people who have never seen him before commenting on how awesome he looks and a couple "Where did you get that?!"

It's really surprising that this far into the game and LK being out for 2 years now that some people haven't seen Loque, or even Gondria for that matter even though (s)he came a little later.

Savarin (Sambas) has gotten his own share of emotes, but I don't think anyone has asked about him other than right after I tamed him. Another Hunter landed at the spot I tamed him shortly after and I informed him of the time and that I had just tamed.

I really want Chromaggus and I've only seen a few people with him. I have The Kurken for now as he's the only easily accessible Core Hound model I like. I can't stand the green/red ones. I always get a little jealous seeing other Hunters with Chromaggus, but never feel any hatred towards them. More of a "good taste" thought.

Yeah I haven't gotten many hate whispers about my pets either, of course I try to stick with my basic team/whoever I'm leveling outside of dungeons so that might be why. I have had comments on my Skoll though, typically other classes asking where to get him. Lol

I know of one hunter who was(is?) looking for Sambas and paying 15k gold...wonder if he ever got Sambas.

People seem to really like Oil-Stained Wolves because I get messaged all the time about mine. It would probably be the same for the oil-stained bird but I never use so no one has chance to respond. As for Sambas, people sometimes ask where I got it but never hate--most hunters I've talked to really don't know who he is or where he is from. Now, if I'm sitting at a rare spawn location waiting for a pet--yeah I get /spit on quite a lot by other hunters lurking but that isn't so bad as the "I'm mad at you because you waited for a spawn I was unwilling to wait for." Jealousy is an ugly thing. Just ignore the hate in my opinion.

I tend to consider the 'I hate you! I've been looking for him for years!' or whatever as just 'friendly' hate. Not the real thing. Sarcastic hate, for lack of better word.

As for actually getting it, I've never had it. I've had a couple people (always Horde amusingly enough!) /cheer and /gasp and /point and /hug my Terrorpene, but the one I always got the most love on was my white cobra, Suresh, when I was level 25 or so. I could guarantee on a 'Where'd you get the pet?' or 'OMG that's awesome!' or whatever at *least* once a week, and usually more often.

It's like someone above said: everyone knows where the real rares are. It's the 'uncommon' pets that get the best reaction. The ones that are pretty and stand out, and no other hunters actually have them.

Indeed.

It amuses me to no end that the "rare" pets are actually more common than the "common" pets - likely a large contributing factor to my having so many of the latter.

id never pay for a hunter pet.. then again im on a pretty low pop server.. i just check a couple times a day if I want a rarespawn and get it within a week or so eventually

madexx was probably the worst because of his killability and presence in a quest area..

didnt king krush until recently either,,, his presence in sholazar(popular farm/quest spot) and the his wide patrol range made him basically die relatively soon after spawning.


I was surprised how large madexx is.. he sticks out... like as big as a tauren on a protodrake... impossible to not want to kill him

Nuramoc elicited some hilarious reactions after I tamed him. Double-takes and more than one 'what the hell IS that?' Similar hijinks ensued after I discovered Froststorm breath.
