I recently decided to tame an owl...

Simply because of this video. Now to get my subscription back up and running to go and tame one. The gray model in Teldrassil seems to fit perfectly, right?

Re: I recently decided to tame an owl...
Sorry but that's the first time I've actually been disgusted by a link posted here. No offense to you, but what they basically did was scare the crap out of the owl to get it to respond and act that way- sure it most likely does it in the wild. But it was actually thinking they were going to attack it. That's why it either fluffed up or tried to make itself slimmer and I guess more threatening.
What they did is vulgar and to be honest the WRONG way to get the owl to display its talents. Disgusting show of humanity right there.
But in other news- I would have to agree the grey seems to fit, but really only for color. It always saddens me how wow owls don't really mimic real owls, and how they sound like seagulls :<

I agree about how it's wrong that they had to scare the reactions out, but I meant for the link to be a general idea as to the owl in question that I was inspired by.
Puffy as a cloud? Check.
Wise as a sage? Check.
Thin as a shotgun barrel? Gunfire, baby.
EDIT; forgot to mention, I have no clue what kind of owl it is, and this was the only good quality (as in video detail) video of one in action that I could find.

I didn't think the video was that bad. The owl wasn't harmed in any way whatsoever. But that is one awesome bird. Like an octopus of the air.

Mmm... I'm kinda with Ryai on this one. Like she said, sure, it'd go through the same stuff in the wild, but in the wild it's not tied to a branch. And they really just kept at it, circling it with the larger owl. Totally unnecessary, and I really don't know many animal lovers that would want to see that done to their own pets. Why would it then be "cool" or "fun" to see it done to any other animal?

I agree, while the bird itself has a 'cool' form of protecting itself, it was very inhumane to terrorize the owl like this. Being 1/4 Japanese, i know Japanese humor/comedy... and their reality shows are just as bad, if not worse, so to them, this wouldn't be cruel and inhumane, it'd be funny and neat.

I don't think the owl is as traumatized as you think.
It was tied down, but could have attempted to fly away had it been scared enough. Its legs weren't attached to the branch. It could've fluttered off had it really been that scared. Instead it tried to frighten the other birds.
And they circled it for, what, three minutes? If that. And at that, only with one bird. I'm sure it returned to normal afterward. In all honesty, it's more humane to give the bird something to think about and react to rather than let it rot in its cage at the zoo day after day.
Just what I think, I'm not trying to be mean.

Well I don't know if it's abuse as such, I just think it's unnecessary treatment. And yeah, he wasn't stuck on the stick, but I guarantee you he was aware that he couldn't fly away. He's learned that his whole life.Razzy wrote:I don't think the owl is as traumatized as you think.

You also really can't know how long they recorded to get the footage they wanted. It might have been three minutes, it might have been an hour.
Yeah, the owl won't be suffering any lasting damage, but why make it suffer at all? That's kind of my point. It was unnecessary.
