Duskstalker.

Unread post by Falcon »

I've tamed pets from Alliance territories (Azuremyst, Bloodmyst, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan) on Horde characters before, but never anything on Teldrassil.

I'd been toying with the notion of making a hunter over on Nesingwary who'd train nothing but cats, the 'sabre cat' model in particular, to be exact, and I finally motivated myself to do so, and Atuya was born. Veph talked me into joining the Petopians guild, and I managed to get Atuya leveled to fifteen before I had to log for the night.

Just now, I finished probably what was one of the funnest treks into Alliance territory for me yet. Thanks to Zexia's rather creative plan.

Last night, I'd logged out in Orgrimmar for the flightpath and had asked if anyone was willing (and crazy enough) to help me tame Duskstalker, and Zexia paged me saying that they could and to meet in Grom'gol. This confused me at first, since I'd never gone after this cat Horde-side before, but I listened and went there.

We ran all the way from Grom'gol to Elwynn, where we positioned ourselves next to the Stormwind dock where the boat to Teldrassil would arrive. I'm not sure if Zexia was killed due to us being flagged pvp, but I had to drown myself (which takes forever and a day now, yeesh) and we ran back through Stormwind as ghosts and though the boat was there, we decided to catch the next one because this one was full of Alliance.

Luckily, the next boat to arrive was completely empty, so we ran on there, hid at the front and rezzed ourselves. When the boat arrived at Teldrassil, we jumped off the front and swam/ran around the tree to the place where she'd figured out that would get us rezzed up at the Dolanaar graveyard if we drowned ourselves. It took a bit for us to find a spot for me to be able to drown too, since Atuya's a blood elf, but we managed it and we rezzed ourselves in Dolanaar's graveyard (sans PvP flags, thank god!) and ran down to Duskstalker's area.

She was up and I ended up jumping the gun (as you can see in the tame pic, whoops) before Zexia could place a freeze trap down, but it went well and Atuya got herself her very first sabre cat. Thank you again, Zexia, I couldn't have done this without you and your really creative plan.

Duskstalker's not Atuya's first tame, she also has a springpaw stalker named Tengaar I still need to take pics of.

Congrats! That's a really nifty plan for getting there, I've been wondering what might be a good strat for that. I just might test this out. :D

Congrats! Thats a very different way that I went on my Horde toon, very creative idea.

I corpse ran from Darkshore and then into Darnassus, where I died inside, rezzed and went to get him.

I wouldn't call it broken, just harder. You have to do more of a 'corpse hop' - progressively getting yourself farther and farther from a GY until you wind up in the next GY after releasing. Yes, you have to wait out timers, which is where the challenge comes into play. It sure helps that there are more flypoints now (kinda hard to pick which one you want, when they're so clustered together!), which allows you to save your progress, in a sense.

Well, grats on your spotty kitty, Toph! I'll have to keep an eye out for you when I'm on my Petopians hunter.

No I didn't actually corpse run-I did this on Kitsune less then a month ago when she was level.. 14 I think it was?

Image

Start at DArkshore travel North-not Northeast, towards the tendrils of Teldrassil-orange or pink path, I think pink was the best for me. You'll die once. Run back and keep on running over the water as a corpse to where you died. You'll start to fatigue but if you aimed right, you will hit the normal water and your fatigue will fade. Backtrack as little as you can to be in range to rez, rez and go back to the roots.

Image

From there swim to the portal leading into Darnassus-blue path. If you die while trying to get there, follow the same path back to where your corpse is again-and again if you keep dying. If you time your rez right you should be able to jump into the portal before the guards kill you. Once in Darnassus, you'll die again-but you will be in the graveyard in the center of the isle when you release. Take rez sick, run and hide until your pvp flag disappears and then take the purple flag to go south to get your kitty.

Did this on Gypsi when she was a goblin for her first 20 levels, and then on Kitsune. It works but all the backtracking is annoying as heck and it is time consuming. First time took about 2 hours, on Kit, it took about 1 hour to do.

And he is not shiney-but in some light he seems to have a glow-he is a very bright white.

Yeah, my run across the southern Barrens took forever as well. Can't remember exactly how long, but I'm sure it was well over an hour of running, dying, retrieving corpse, and waiting out rez timers.

Thank you, Cialbi!

Just got Shadowclaw thanks to mpd_84, who gave me a ride in his machano-hog. The trip wasn't as crazy as the trip for Duskstalker, but somehow, we ended up killing Apothecary Farrows when 84 killed a rat by him. O_o; That was... yeah.

I'll rename this thread when I'm less tired, but I'm so, so happy I got the two Alliance rare sabre cats out of the way in one day with you guys' help. Thank you both again!

I'd forgotten to take a pic after I'd fed and named him, d'oh. Hence why we're in the Ghostlands.

I'm glad 84 was there to get that moonstalker off me, I probably wouldn't have lived otherwise.

Never noticed the red twinkle in Shadowclaw's eyes until I saw that second screenshot. Makes Clyde seem ever so slightly unstable, if you pay close attention.

Clive not Clyde. ^_^; He's named after a character from an RPG called Suikoden II. And yeah, it does, I never noticed that about him. O_o
