Re: Help! losing interest!
Ive actually started to do two things, my newest hunter is now in northrend after cleaning out 90% of outlands for interest and now its back to ungodly monotonous grinding (ive done the major jist of every zone on northrend and it aint that fun..) so ive decided to take up my pencil once more (i usually draw to pass time when camping rares) and ive been drawing a white saber amongst a field of paper flowers, a little uhm, whats it called.. tribute? something.. to a favorite song of mine called Imaginary by Evanescence. The sabers dreaming in her own trippy world just like the character Amy plays sings as in the song.
I also like to write poetry but ive been without inspiration for a few years and my vocabulary is absolutely terrible when it comes to trying to make a story or write a poem since i want to express my emotion into it but when i write something, it falls completey dead ._.

Re: Help! losing interest!
This subject just confuses me. WoW is a game, and, as far as I understand, games are meant to be an amusing distraction. If a game gets boring, why do you stay? I mean, if you were playing Monopoly with some friends and got bored, you might finish that particular game so as not to let them down, but then you'd likely tuck it back in its box, stick it in the cupboard and forget about it until the next time you suddenly felt like playing it again. Why is WoW any different? I've always been repulsed by the general feel of the game being treated like a second job by some, and I absolutely refuse to bow down to that. Others think I should concentrate on a couple of mains and gear them up and raid? Screw that, I play this for fun, and for me fun is leveling millions of alts through lowbie areas.
Still, if I get bored for ANY reason, I stop immediately. Why waste my time on something that is a highly unproductive pastime anyway, especially when I don't even enjoy it?
Read a book, watch a good film, or an interesting documentary. Go out and walk (or run), play with your pets and kids (if you have them), call a friend and ask them over for fun or go out somewhere. Take pictures, draw, listen to music, dance. The world and all its entertainments are out there, just waiting for you!

Re: Help! losing interest!
I can only speak for myself, but the reason I keep "playing" WoW is because of the social aspect of it. I have become quite good freinds with people all over the continent, and enjoy their company. Between work, my wife and 3 year old son, my photography and cooking hobbies, and off roading, I only play a few hours a week. Am I bored with the game? Yes. Am I willing to give up the social aspect of it? No. And yes, many of my WoW friends I am FB friends with, but it's fun to have us all on at the same time in a real ID chat, especially when there is very little chance we will ever be able to get together in RL.Mozag wrote:This subject just confuses me. Re: Help! losing interest!
I can understand that perfectly, since it is a social game, after all. But I still stand by what I said, since instead of real ID, you could be using Skype for your communication needs, which would also be free. But, if your friends are still enjoying the game, and you feel like you must enter WoW o talk to them, then obviously that's what you must do. I have often ended up sitting around for hours in the game, doing nothing whatsoever since I've been having such a lively conversation in guild chat. Four hours later I notice that I haven't leveled, sold anything, gathered anything, done a single dungeon or raid, and yet I still don't feel like I've been bored or wasted my time. If the socialisation is what you enjoy, and if WoW is the only place to do it, then I still don't see how you can be bored when you're online.FuzzyDolly wrote: I can only speak for myself, but the reason I keep "playing" WoW is because of the social aspect of it. Re: Help! losing interest!
Yea i am usually logged into WoW if im actually doing something else while at home cause its the only way i can talk to my guild which ive become quite attatched to. Ive lived in the same old narrow-minded town for my entire life and i can tell you 100% that i do not get along with anyone in my co-op nor people in the other co-ops.
If i go out, its a once a week trip to see bf since he lives quite far away from me or to go to the store for munchies, rarely do i go see a movie cause they havent been very good lately :/ I do promise myself i will spend more time at the indoor pool thats by the mall and bike through the farmland just a couple blocks from my house in the summer when its warm tho :3 WoW is how i cope with winter lol..

Maybe bored is the wrong word then. Maybe unfocused is closer to the right terminology. Most days I log in, I do almost exactly what you describe... spend most of my time conversing and hardly any time leveling. I can't seem to focus on a specific toon. I find myself hopping from my 85 to my 12 to my 80 to my 30... back and forth from ally to horde and back to ally. I can be on for an hour and not finish a quest on a single toon.Mozag wrote:I can understand that perfectly, since it is a social game, after all. I've been having a little trouble staying focused on Rae ... Outland's feeling a little boring and more and more I find myself thinking about rolling up an alt.

Re: Help! losing interest!
Lately I've been doing classic/BC raids on my 85 with other guildies who never got to do the content just to get them the achieves and have been having a ton of fun while doing it. More fun now than I had back when that content was at my level, dun know if it's just because I don't gotta be so focused on what I'm doing or if it's just being able to chill and goof off in vent/raid chat with my guildmates, or a bit of both. But it's nice now that the gear doesn't matter, and I can pay more attention to the vibe of the instance and really appreciate it because I can actually get into it more than I could back in my 60/70's. Like tonight we did a BT run, and I started to sing No Doubt's song 'Ex Girlfriend' during the Illidan fight in vent, cracked my guildmates up.
I'm sorta 50/50 on the 'get bored, make an alt' camp, I've got alts, their fun, but I get really fed up with going through the same dumb zones doing the same dumb quests whenever I make one. Heirloom gear for quick leveling, then doing nothing but rolling randoms when I hit 20 'till I can start doing raids to break up the cycle of randoms and working on professions is what I generally do with alts. Can pretty much power lvl a couple alts in a matter of weeks, taking breaks from time to time to go do something dumb on my main to prevent the dungeon burnout on the alts. I try to make alts that force me to learn a diff playstyle than what I'm used to, right now I'm working on learning how to tank with a brand new pally alt. About as far as you can go from the hunter/lock/mage trio I typically default to.
