Green Core Hound

I decided to go for the "real" thing, so I found him at the base of the lovely volcano in the middle of Shadowmoon Valley. And giggled as he tried to bite me...D'awwwww.

There is a two headed dog biting me...it tickles.

Went back through the portal and realized that the other green model of Core Hound was on the other side of the ridge...why not take a photo and show the difference betwenn the two models. As you can see the only real big difference is in the colour of the flames and the drool at the front.

So after my almost epically failed Sambas tame (you can read about it here) I was in Twilight Highlands to test this "bad boy" out. His health wasn't as good as Mr. Rhino, but then again that is Ferocity vs Tenacity and I don't think my Core Hound here could ever match that. However, his DPS was good and I didn't have to heal him against one mob. Not sure if I would recommend more than two mobs, since he is not meant to be a tanking pet. Of course, left on autocast, he used his casting slow on a mob that wouldn't be casting anything...blah.

I personally don't really like the sickly green, and would take any of the other models (I want Chromaggus though). The fire noise I found to be annoying and thank the Titans he doesn't stomp anymore! So he is kind of annoying to idle with. Does Chromaggus make the fire noise too? I know he isn't on fire, but is it a model specific thing or just a general family trait?

The trailing fire was pretty though!

And of course I had to take him swimming...to put out the fire! That didn't work, but him sticking his head above the water was kinda cute.

I guess he needs to breathe...lol

Summary
I don't like the green colour of the model and I don't like it's sound. Good dps, meh health, probably have to micro-manage the casting slow and of course the lovely Ancient Histeria...always nice. But I would like a different model. So I will keep him until I can get Chromaggus.

Thanks so much...last review that I have done for today...I was really busy yesterday. I also finished "Day of the Dragon" yesterday by reading until 5 am...not that different from most other nights really. Now you can see why I can never get my sleeping back on track.

Purple Wasp

Kormai here already has a wasp and it's actually her main pet right now. But I had never tried these models before so I gave it a go. Took a nice long flight from Winterspring to Tanaris and tamed the first one I saw.

Ran out a bit and saw an untameable snake...because you are untameable you will be sacrificed for testiing! The wasp's health wasn't too bad and it make quick work of the snake. I didn't really notice the 2 second stun from the wasp. I guess I would have in PvP, or the mob was coming after me and he used it. Meh.

Idling the wasps have a quieter flapping noise than the birds; it's tolerable. As for the model, I didn't really like it, there is something weird about it, but I just can't figure out what. Not to mention the "running" animation, it bothers me too, I think it's the way its body moves like the Dragonhawks...just weird. And it does the same thing swimming, which I guess makes more sense, but it's still odd.

Summary
I definitely won't be keeping this one. I don't notice the 2 sec stun skill, on this one or Nix (the one Kormai already has). Really I just like Nix because of how she looks! The dps is fine, as it is a ferocity pet, and it can probably hold two mobs and not die before it kills them on it's own. Idling noise is a quieter flap that isn't too obtrusive.

All right, report for Fiona coming in. Promised the boyfriend that I'd PvP with him a bit today since we're both off so that had to come first. XD

Decided the easiest route to try and get there would be a port to Swamps of Sorrows, but even better than that, Korii offered to taxidrake me to Redridge! And thus begins our little adventure.


The drake mount is still a little glitchy, and as a tiny goblin, well, I look rather like a baby in its high chair on the back of Korii.


Over great lands we flew until we reached our destination. Korii landed me safely on a mountain while he cleared out the area of stinky gnolls. He then flew me back down and even helped keep me safe from fox bites as I tamed my new friend.


In honor of the person who so generously toted my baby self around, I named my new black fox Korii.


Foxes are another pet I was thinking of going with a more flashy color for on Fiona, but I actually rather like the way the black one looks. If I ever replace Korii for a more flashy color, I'll definitely be giving him a home on Yzma.

Anyway, on to the report. I like the yellow eyes of this fox model, they're very bright and cheerful.


Looking at him from the side, I really like the way the fur looks for these guys. It's nice and smooth looking.

My biggest beef with the foxes is how sharp and jagged they look. They're a little strange to look at up close under a bit of scrutiny, but it's not enough to turn me away from them (although if I were forced to pick between a tallstrider and a fox for their debuff, I'd totally go with the tallstrider ).

Also, when they do the scratch idle, their entire stomach is like one giant point.


If you've ever had a coyote model wolf or hyena, you know exactly how foxes will act. They bounce back and forth, they sniff the ground, they howl, and they scratch themselves. Quite busy by your side, although quiet while idling. Combat is a whole 'nother story. These guys are *very* loud in combat so if you like a nice, quiet combat companion, foxes aren't for you.

Their run is pretty smooth as the coyote skeletons have a nice run. Also means they doggy paddle while swimming.


As for combat, well, the fox is ferocity so good damage is to be expected. Tail spin is situationally useful; nice against melee mobs that you know might hit hard.

Overall, Korii will be staying with Fiona until I can get Yzma out to Redridge and rehome him. I'll probably try and get Ashtail on Fiona as he's a bit more fitting with her theme. (Sorry Korii! >_<)

I haven't used a crab since Wrath so I figured this might be interesting. Already being in Silverpine, I took a flight to Undercity and then portaled out to Silvermoon. Ran out to the coast and made friends with the first crab I saw.


Named him Sebastian and nabbed a shot of us together.


So the bronze crab...really isn't so bronze once you start studying it. It has lots of green attributes to it that I just can't unsee anymore.

Why are you so green little crabby? O_O I mean, the green seriously stands out really bad (at least for me) and it's actually beginning to drive me crazy.

Anyway, the model itself isn't bad for being an older one. Their faces are pretty cute and they look kind of like real crabs.


The green is really noticeable in the lighting of Silverpine, but the white parts of their legs are very shiny.


K, animations. Crabs scuttle along the ground, which is pretty cute.

They don't do much as they idle by your side; they just look from side to side. They're also pretty quiet pets.

Their swim is rather neat too, they use those big ass pincers as oars to propel themselves through the water.


Not many pets hold aggro off my hunter since she's SV, crab's not much different. I dislike pin because it's a channeled ability which means the crab can't generate any aggro, but thankfully I kill stuff fast enough for it to not matter much. The green is actually driving me crazy enough that I won't be keeping Sebastian on Yzma.

My latest assignment was the orange hyena from the southern barrens, so I was off!

Once I realized they were in the SOUTHERN barrens, there was no trouble!



Once tamed, it was my standard procedure for tames: GTFO like you stole it! (I have, for the record, never stolen a pet from someone but man I totally get outta dodge once I make a new tame like someone's going to scold me. No idea why.)

Now, since my main hunter's hyena is named Fish, I went with the theme. Say hi to Sashimi!



The orange hyena is a nice burnt-orange color with darker markings. They fit in very well in their natural surroundings, and aren't a bad color scheme as far as I'm concerned. Some people take issue with their legs, but I'm going to pretend they're just mottled and not burned, because that's how I roll.

I come down on the side that I'm not a big fan of their current stance. I found their old stance charming and sweet. Ah well. we'll always have when you run, Sashimi~



Combat they're fine. They have the +bleed special, which sometimes comes in handy since I'm leveling her marksman. and they're pretty into what they're attacking!



(I know that wasn't funny. and someday I'll get out of the Desolace.)

I had every intention of keeping Sashimi, but then fate intervened.



You can see poor Sashimi recoiling in horror at my hyena-scicle, but you know how it is. I gave that skin a shot, and it was love.

Omg, first of all, SO sorry mine took this long! I had personal issues, guild stuff going on (my bf being away on a trip so I'm solo leading D: ) and other things. Anyway, I ofcourse remembered I was assigned, and I'm a woman (girl ) of my word.

I was assigned the Dark stripped cat. This was sort of exciting for me, as that exact model was my very first pet!

The tame:
As a draenei, Azuremyst is crowded with the Infected Runts, and so it was the very first thing I tamed. I decided to go back for the very same cat I got back then (which I don't anymore, damn 5slots), the one right outside Exodar. I got there using the boat, and as soon as I got near the cats, one aggroed. I knew it's gonna be the one. Tamed, and named Davie, after my original cat.

The look:
Back then I had a slower pc, smaller screen, so I never really noticed how pixelated and rough the Cat texture is. Also, the skin. I really dislike it, it's too dirty. It's not black, it's not silver, it's just gray and dull. It's like it rolled in dust then it rained and the result was this skin... (sorry skin fans D: )
Another point, the nose. The teeth. This is what I mean.

It's all to angled. He seems to be made out of triangles. Also, his teeth. It's like they're one smooth overall texture. It really stabbed me in the eye and I couldn't unsee.

The Personality:
None whatsoever. During the whole time I had him with me, he just yawned TWICE! And we all know how cats love to yawn. He just stood there. And stood there. Did not even look left and right. He...just...stood. Sigh.

The combat:
Decided to test him on some elite. I picked Arazzius the Cruel since he was nearby. I love cats as pets, so this wasnt a problem. Problem was the hp, as he was still lower than me, but he held decent threat.

However...once Arazzius died, the cat, again, just stood there. Cold. Unmoving. I believe he yawned, or maybe I just wished...

I couldn't que for a bg for the life of me, so I decided to do something similar: cap a tower in Hellfire. And so I did. ...Cat...did not react. I cried.

The overall:
I guess I was wrong into thinking I can bring my old cat back this way. I've bonded more with the spiders in my room than this kitty...Shame really. Skin isn't something I'm fond of, neither is the Cat model. I prefere Saber cats, as they're more updated, have more personality and charisma. This kitty...did not. I did however felt a bit nostalgic for my old kitten, this brought back some memories
Will I keep? No, sadly. My stable is full as it is and I'm not even 69 yet.

I will however, go again!

Gotta love those Petopian Sandstone Drakes! Thanks to one, my Nazthandol has a bear named Tegan. A very drowsy bear named Tegan, but I digress.

Where's my report? Well, only tamed one pet, got some screenshots, then felt sleepy, so I logged off and enjoyed my sleep (I have the worst time falling asleep). That said, got some great screenshots of Pin (it actually has an animation), as well as proof that crabs can't do diddly-squat while using Pin.

So, give me time!

Now that I'm off work and have remembered I have Yzma's pet challenge to do, I'm here to make my report on .

I figured the Barrens would be the easiest place to go and get one of these guys. So after a long journey out there, I found my target.


Let the taming commence!


Named this guy Squirt and let's just say he doesn't like the idea of a corpse for a friend, and I'm not so fond of him either.


I'm really glad for any and all the people who like this skin because Yzma's not fond of it. I don't like the way the blue and the yellow look together, and I don't like how sickly the yellow gets to looking in darker lighting situations (how unlucky for me doing this at night XD).

The scales have nice detail to them and the 'derpy' faces of the old world turtles are charming. I noticed that his back legs will clip through his shell a little bit when he idles sometimes, but he refused to let me get a screenshot of it.

Also, it's pretty obvious how Blizzard made the shells on these guys. The shells look like they're stitched together and you can just see the way they're tiered; this looks much smoother on the newer turtles.


Turtles have pretty cute animations, and they're nice, quiet pets. They're contemplative and protective. They raise that head of theirs and swing it around in either pride, or a challenge. They scuttle when they run with those short little stumpy legs of theirs. (Yes, I know it's not the blue turtle in the screenshot, he and I split ways after the looks shots because he kept trying to make off with Yzma's arm.)


Turtles (and beetles) make fabulous single target tank pets. Between the use of Cower and Shell Shield, they get around 90% damage reduction through smart use of cooldowns; fabulous when soloing content or battling a tough elite. They're tenacity so their damage won't be through the roof, but they'll get the job done.

Overall, I much like Kronk better than Squirt (yes, I know the screenshots say "Crush" but that's only because I mis-named him and there haven't been any Certificates of Ownership on the AH and my Inscription isn't high enough to make 'em yet).


Also! One kind of neat thing about the white turtle is that like the white Jormungar, he will sort of change colors depending on the lighting he's in.

Also random question...does anyone know how on Azeroth to find Madexx in the WMV? I tried all the different names that share his models, the 'hordescorpion' thing and all its variations, scorpid/scorpion mount. Everything and still cannot find him. Took me long enough to find freaking Sambas!

As soon as i type in "hordes" in the load NPC thing, there is nothing left that matches it. I even just searched "horde" and read through all the things on the list and nothing. When I checked scorpidmount, or scorpionmount in both the load NPC and the normal little menu thing (which i cant remember what it's called) there is a "scorpid" that pops up but it's the black with red dots model, not Madexx.

To find Sambas though, you have to use the name of an NPC that shares his model, "Akhet." You should find him under that.
