This post managed to pull me out of lurking to share. Grats on that!

My first unusual pet was on my original hunter. After discovering the ghost sabers, I knew one had to be Ofellia's. I was just the level to tame them when I trotted off the the ruins, dragging my poor best friend in tow. I can't even remember how many times the two of us got completely eviscerated by nagas with nothing to show for it. However, he was a great sport and we managed to eventually leave with Felicor by my hunter's side.

My first rare camp was Humar as well. My whole passel of friends changed factions and servers. Since I loved my hunter (who still rots at level 21, ghost saber and all), I decided to roll one again as a blood elf. I was just starting to poke around the Barrens when the same friend decided he was going to show me something "cool" and pointed out that infamous black feline. Only problem? The three or so levels he was above me. I leveled as quickly as possible, and in a day or so I was ready to get my cat. And so began my first, and worst, camp to date. I checked ENDLESSLY, heartbroken that we had found him so easily the first time only to never see him again. My friends kept telling me they spotted him while I was out, and killed him to reset the timer for me but I remained luckless. I think it was about the third day when I finally realized... I was camping the wrong tree. That was a hard n00b lesson to learn but fortunately for me when I found the right spot, Humar was lying there, as if laughing at what took so long. He remained my main pet until I could tame an ironhide in Un'Goro; and Divalo still lounges in Carmindy's stable to remind me of the importance of accurate spawn sites. ;)

My longest camp was the Time-Lost Proto-Drake, but that's a whole other story.

yay another lurker brought to posting! woo :>

oh yes. humar was my first rare camp, but it certainly wasn't my longest or hardest... that goes to camping aeonaxx; over a week i camped that damn dragon. i missed him ~6 times; once, i saw him, flew to him, was RIGHT next to him spam clicking the mount icon, but someone was about .02 seconds faster than me and got on it before i could. argh!

My first pet/long cap/exciting tame? Oh, easy, the one I made a hunter for.

So way back in the days when dinosaurs roamed Azeroth (wait...), my brother tried out World of Warcraft. I gave it a few goes, eventually discovered the wonders of a tauren druid, and happily fiddled around with that. Well, I started to get the alt itch rather quickly, and then one day my brother showed me a new pet he had tamed on his tauren hunter. It was a shiny black scorpion with red spots and boy if it wasn't the most amazing thing I had ever laid eyes on. I had to have one.

So I perused the other race choices-- two tauren? No way!-- and quickly rolled up an orc. Benny Hilled my way around Durotar until I made it to level 10, did the pet taming quests, and then carefully checked Allakazam's for where to find it. Over near Thunder Ridge looked the least scary, so I petlessly trekked my way over there and started looking. Bingo! Found it, and it's... level 11?! But I'm only level 10!

Cue an hour of running in frantic circles gunning down trash mobs, still petless, as I desperately kept MY scorpid in view. I was so worried that if I lost sight of it I'd never see it again! Finally I managed to kill enough ugly inferior green scorpids and raptors and such to ding 11, and BAM, I was all over my scorpid like a theorycrafter on the latest patch notes. Tame went off without a hitch, and voila, I had the pet I wanted. About a dozen levels later, aka days and days of playtime, I finally named it: Kirachi.

Of course, about five minutes after I made friends with someone who knew anything about hunter pets, they asked me why I got a Corrupted Scorpid instead of Death Flayer. The rarespawn with the superior attack speed. That was when I learned the resent the @#$% outta rarespawns.

Anywho, in the great narrative of that particular hunter, Kirachi managed to shake off its corruption and "reverted" to a tan-and-blue Clattering Scorpid (read: scorpid heyday in the Burning Crusade led to everyone and their mother sporting a black-and-red scorpid out of Shadowmoon Valley, I couldn't take it anymore and powerleveled a tan one from level 6) and so these days it doesn't have the same skin I started a hunter for. There have been other pets too: my second pet, Shikere the wind serpent, has been nearly as beloved, and all of Wrath was spent blissfully cuddling Hougouha the wasp, She Who Teaches The Melee to Tab-Target.

But in the end... yeah, that was my best tame by a long-shot. Definitely still one of my favorite pets too, as evidenced by loving it enough to turn it it into an avatar.

(And I still resent the @#$% outta rarespawns. You will never separate me from my spite!)

Okay, so I'm back and still feeling chatty, so I'mma tell y'all about my most strenuous camp. I'll apologize in advance for any comma abuse, I'm kind of terrible about that.

I started playing WoW in the middle of BC, so Wrath was my first big expansion leadup. I, like so many others, followed the steady stream of beta information, and was eager for the crop of new beasts. Of course, the one that caught my eye most was the strange new pet family, the spirit beast. I couldn't wait to get high enough to tame Loque'nahak!

As soon as I hit 77 (so I could fly), I parked myself in the Basin. I knew the spawn points, I knew the best route between them, I was so ready!

...

...Except for the part where I didn't have epic flying. I quickly realized I had two options. I could either lamely limp along behind the packs of other hunters and hope for the best, or I could stake out a spawn point and try to exert my claim of it over any and all comers. I ended up picking the far southeastern corner point, with the gorillas as my base of operations. I parked myself, petless, on my beloved white gryphon (so that all could see at a glance and hopefully understand why I was there unmoving), and waited.

Days and days I waited, leaving only reluctantly to do dungeons when I could be coaxed to leave my spot. The other hunters in the Basin and I had worked out an agreement; if Loque spawned at my base they wouldn't interfere with my claim, so long as I didn't try to take him from anywhere else. I agreed to that; it wasn't like I could beat them in a race anyway.

I was there so long and so often I'd even made friends with the horde hunters, who had at first hovered around me curiously, emoting their vague threats, but we eventually got to the point where we'd /wave and /cheer at each other to keep our spirits up. I remember a blood elf in particular, who would fly his circles like everyone else, but when he hit my spot he'd stop and give me hugs or pats on the head, as if to keep my spirits up. One he flew in to show me his Loque he had tamed at some point when I was out. I sheered for him and hugged his pet, at the same time thrilled for him and also jealous of his luck.

As happens when you gain XP, I eventually hit 80, and still I waited. Gondria was released, and I wondered if maybe I ought to go hunting for her instead. I needed to finish leveling my mining anyway, so I tried to compromise by mining in the Basin as often as I could, and doing some loops for Gondria on the side. I told myself I'd be happy with either of them, but I knew in my heart I wanted the original, the cat from the Basin.

Then one night, after four months of fruitless searching, on a trip to Sholazar I had made intent on mining, it happened. I flew around to that spot, to my spot, that I had claimed so long ago, and there he was. Not a soul in sight, just Loque'nahak in all his glory, waiting for me.

If the game could properly convey how I was feeling behind the keyboard, Dara would have fallen off her gryphon in her hurry to tag and tame. I remembered to drop the trap, but then promptly broke it so that the now-angry feline was whaling on me, but I didn't dare feign to give it another go. Instead, I hit tame, and flailed all over gchat. They had no idea what was going on, just that I was suddenly being incoherent and throwing far too many exclamation points into the channel. I waited, and watched, and then finally, finally, the golden flash that signaled that my hunt was over. I had my spirit beast, my prize pet. My guildmates thought I was insane that night, but even they grew to love and adore my lazer-cat (to the point one of our healers wouldn't run dungeons with me unless I had Charlie out to run with her).

His was the first tame that ever gave me the adrenaline rush of a tame. I had tamed rares before, of course, but I'd never camped for them, not as long or as strenuously as I had for Loque. I've had long camps and exciting tames since him. I've had the pleasure of finding Skoll and Krush and The Beast (back when he was kind of hard to tame), and even Karoma, Sambas, and most recently Madexx, but none of them can quite compare to bringing Charlie home.

My very first hunter was a Tauren back in Vanilla and her very first pet was a black vulture from Mulgore. Those creatures had given me a really hard time while levelling to 10 and then gave me really hard time getting one for the hunter taming quest. So I figured if I got one of those, they'd also give my enemies a really hard time. Of course, what I didn't realise was that they gave me such a hard time because they had a knockback - which they didn't keep after taming. But I didn't think that far. My simple thought process was "tough oponent = good pet". It was a long time until I really figured out how pets work.

Due to their knockback and the lack of a freezing trap at level 10 I guess this can also count as my first tough tame. Seriously, I think the taming quest for Tauren hunters was by far the hardest because of these guys. (*having bad memories* >>) Anyway, my first big difficult tame, and my only really difficult tame to-date, was King Mosh. I only went to tame him a level 80, but he still killed me a couple of times. Had to come back several times to get some more haste and stamina. But he was nice and always was there when I came for him and I finally got him.

My first big camp was for Loque'nahak, bridging the time between the Shattering and the actual release of Cata. But it wasn't too bad. I just parked my hunter in the Basin and logged in every couple of hours to do a few lapses. I found him after about three days. I got Jadefang and Ghostcrawler with the same method while levelling my shaman to 85. In fact this has always been my method even in Vanilla when going for rares such as Azzere or Snort. Just checking on them every now and then while doing something else. This has worked out for me quite well so far so I've never done any real, long camping (i.e. not doing anything but sit and wait).

Apart from that there were some pets that were hard to get to. I remember a long trip to Westfall on a level 16 Orc hunter to tame one of the vultures there. Not because I wanted one as a pet, but because they were the only creatures that had Shriek Rank 1 (or whatever it was called) which I needed for my bat. I also once managed to solo-tame the black armored boar in Razorfen Kraul when I was at the level of the instance, which made me very proud. Just some of the fond memories of my WoW-life. ;)

My first rare tame was my Orion (Arcturis). After seeing the spirit beasts on here, I decided I wanted one. And, Arcturis being the first I could get, I went for him.

I parked myself on the hill next to the lodge for about 6 hours. I had work the next day, so off to bed I went. After I had come home the next day I had planned on camping again, and was starting to, until my evil, evil boyfriend came home and decided he wanted the computer D=, so, I lost a day. The camping went on for about another two weeks. Then, one night I came on, not really expecting to see him. There was the same stupid Orc hunter there who had been there the entire time I was. He wasn't AFK, and as I turned around to go look, BAM! Big, fluffy, ethereal bear on top of me. I panicked, knowing the other hunter was there. I waited about 10 seconds and then laid my trap and claimed Orion as mine. <3

He's still by far my most favoured pet and I used him for EVERYTHING.

Silly orc just sat and watched.. =]

Oh man, I remember when I first got Warcraft.. I rolled a hunter right away since I have a knack for pets. Well, I went along with a Draenei, considering my friend who got me into WoW was alliance, and.. yknow back before Worgen, Draenei were the only "cool looking" hunters available haha, so I did some questing and had some fun with the nightsabers and moths that were around the starting zone after doing the taming quest. Soon enough I went onto Bloodmyst Isle, after doing those quests and having fun with some spiders I got to Deathclaw's quest. This bear amazed me to bits. I've seen the normal bears but heck.. a scarred bear!? I totally had to tame him! And yeah, like many of you, as soon as I had the quest and got to him I was maybe a level too low. -_- But I was only maybe a bar off from 17, so I killed Deathclaw for the quest (Eeep D:) And did maybe another quest or two.. Ding! I haul butted my way back down to the shore where Deathclaw was.. wait.. where is he!? -looks to the side and sees another draenei running off- He probablly just did the quest, I'll just wait for a respawn.. So I sat there for 5 minutes or so.. 10 minutes, 15.. Oh.. right, I followed the other Draenei off so I was sitting in the wrong spot. ._. -walks back to Deathclaws spot to see him dead again- Okaay this is getting annoying. -plops booty down and waits- Not but maybe 2 minutes later an angry bear started whapping my face, he killed me. So, I run back, Gift of the Naaru, and tame. Got really low on health there.. but I got him. I forgot his origional name.. but, I do remember that when Warp Stalkers came into my level my bear was abandoned (:c) So, a few days ago this story came into my mind randomly while bored.. I went back to my old starting area, heck I even rode my old grey Elekk for kicks.. and walked down to Deathclaws spot, untouched he sat there, waiting for me.
I named him Baloo :3

My first was 'Humar' and it actually took a fair while to get him but still, a fun tame

Despite 'Pitch' having the same skin as him, i still kept my Humar even though it meant turning down a king krush tame to do it (back before large stables).

All these 'memorable tame' stories bring so many of my old, wonderful tames to mind, other than just my first Timber. :D

Like my tame of Gezzarak, when I was level 72 and my paladin friend was level 79. Back in the small window Lightning Lass was actually tameable. It took us over an hour, and lots of scrolls...

Or the tame of Krush. Not so horribly memorable in and of itself, but I still remember the Death Knight whispering me with 'Kruuuuuush!', and my speedy run to pick it up. Only to have him turn down my offered 1k reward.

Or the trip through Dustwallow Marsh to get to The Barrens, because I didn't know you could go through Ashenvale, just so I could get boosted through Wailing Caverns to get my beautiful white serpent. We got lost so many times...

My journey at level 20, to pick up my first Dragonhawk. Among the directions to get there from my high level friend was, "... and then you'll come to Corin's Crossing. And you will die. And I will LOL."

How about at level 60, soloing my way into ZG so I could get a serpent for Poison Spit for Suresh.

Or at level 70, going back to solo-tame my black Windserpent.

Damn. 3 years of being a hunter main brings a lot of 'good taming memories' with it!
Come see Kurasu's stables!

My first rare was Humar who I camped for about 8 hours.
Beautiful cat that I still play with sometimes.

My two favorite camping stories though had to be my two pride and joys.. my spirit cats.
I had been looking at these cats on petopia for months and knew I wanted them badly.
(I collect the cats.. as many of them as I can cram into my stable)
Someone I knew had just tamed Gondria and was excited so we decided to fly over SB to see if we could catch Loq up.
I don't use NPC scan or anything, but he does.
I paid him 2600 gold to help me camp the cats and scan for them.
He wound up just keeping my money and never did help me, but karma really does pay off...
For 3 days I stayed in SB looking for Loq, flying from spawn point to spawn point every 10 minutes for about 15 hours 2 days in a row.
Nothing. Not even a corpse. I was level 76 at the time and spent my time jumping from spawn to spawn killing things and skinning them.
I went from 76-77 just grinding (I used to play FFXI.. grinding and farming for hours on end is nothing to me) and camping loq.
Still nothing after 3 days. (I was getting rich though!)
I decided to jump over to Zul'drak and camp Gondria.
I camped the spawn point by the bears and snow leopards and farmed them while checking spawn points every 10 minutes.
I went from 77-78 like this.
I spent 2 days camping Gondria. The first night, another hunter snagged her as she popped right in front of him.
The next night another hunter sent me whispers saying they had seen me there all day the day before and was I camping or just farming.
I told him I was desperately seeking the kitty and farming for something to do.
He too was looking for Gondria and we wished each other good luck.
We talked a bit and he decided to go see if Loq was up.
She was.. of course..
He flew back to Zul and showed me his new kitty and said he was going to continue to hunt for Gondria.. about 10 minutes after he got there, I got a whisper from him telling me to come to him RIGHT NOW.
Gondria popped beside him, and he said he would like for me to have her!
(see what I mean about karma?!)
He let me have the tame and cheered for me.
Excited as I was, I returned to SB and continued my quest for the elusive Loq.
5 days went by, camping 15+ hours per day, all week, with no luck.
I was pretty disheartened at this point.
Then one morning at about sunrise I was farming leather off of the apes and thought "eh what the heck, I'll patrol one last time"
and sure enough, there she was right by the base camp.
I was so excited I did the same Rikaku did and dismounted in midair and went sliding across the screen, accidentally hit auto run and started running away from her lol.
I also had accidentally hit my trap macro (yes I was THAT nervous!) and so I had to stand there and sweat while it cooled down.
With shaking hands I placed the trap and hit tame...a few seconds later, I had my kitty!
I was shaking and screaming so hard I woke everyone in the house up.
I am now back to questing and not grinding, made a nice chunk of change from farming, and happily hanging out with my awesome cats :)
Definitely worth it!

First pet - Night saber

Favorite pet - Rak'shiri

Long camp - Sambas and Madexx tied for 2 months, next is Skoll and Terrorpene at 2 weeks

Exciting tame - Chromaggus thanks to an a$$hat paladin that pulled aggro. The Healer was like meh let him die and hit him with distracting shot and ull get him no problem. Sure enough lvl 83 paly dies and poof I have my Balthazar. 5 minutes of chaos and growling at this paladin. The raid made him run back in. We downed nefarius before he caught up

*edit* I should have mentioned that prior to getting to chromaggus all 10 of members of the raid acknowledged and agreed to letting me get Chrommy

My greatest tame so far was Terrorpene. As i literally was falling to the ground, the game not classifying me as dead till maybe a quarter of a blink of an eye later, Terrorpene's name went from Red to Blue and when i rezzed a minute or two later and called him out, another hunter swooped in, cheered at me (you could kinda tell though she died a little inside cause she missed him just a minute ago) and flew off.

Most EXCITING tame ever for me was when I pinned down King Krush for HALF AN HOUR on a CLIFFFF @_@ I was waiting for my guild leader to return from her smoke so i could freak out in guild chat for her to get her orc butt over into Sholazar and tame him (she was absolutely in love with my Krush named Monster) and it eventually led me to pinning him down in the corner of a pool of water so he wouldnt keep fearing me off the cliffside into all the nasty Wasps.

I had hired two ppl several hours earlier and promised them 1000g each if they did not find any of the rarespawns before i did (they spent 7 hours glued to the comp for Loque's 5000g reward xD) and i also had to pay a holy paladin 1000g to come over and heal my guild leader through the taming process. Was worth it though, my guild master has become one of my best friends in the game and we do all sorts of things for eachother <3

The pet of my LIFE tame though was Takk the Leaper. I went up to her spawn ground and nabbed her baby out of the nest and continued down to look for her and she was darting around (prolly looking for her poor baby), i summoned him and tamed Takk and we became a perfect pair <3 I dont remember why we broke up but last wednesday i was in barrens again and i went to look for Takk and i didnt see her at all. Looked for the nest, no nest, looked for takk before setting off and ta dum!! She was there. I checked all my pet spaces to see if i had room and i did so i went to tame her and shes not there o.o

I frantically run around and i see the back of some undead mage and hes hovering over a raptor corpse SKINNING IT!!! I was standing right infront of Takk and he killed her RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and SKINNED HER..... I wanted to give him an earful over how extremely rude that was of him since i and Takk were in plain sight of eachother and i AM a HUNTER not some Portal-Pooping gold farmer >_> I had to run my bf through wailing caverns for some armor though so i remained silent and flew away.

Yesterday i logged in, left wailing caverns and flew to Takk's grounds and didnt see her (i have her in NPCScan_ on my computer btw) and i looked for her nest and taduuum got my 3rd hatchling (i gave no. 2 to bf as a Welcome to Warcraft! present, even giftwrapped and poked holes in the paper lol) and i always always backtrack incase i flew through too fast for the game to load all the mobs and baboom baboom yay! Takk the Leaper is darting around my feet!

No one was up there and i knew i had 2 pet spaces to spare so i dropped down, summoned my baby hatchling and tamed Takk ^.^ The location the hatchling had wandered over to and how Takk ran to my side made it look like she ran over to shelter the hatchling under her body from the sun and predators, was extremely cute :DD

my first rare was Bjarn, the white bear from Dun Morogh
I leveled all the way to about 60 with tht guy, I then replaced him with the flaming boar from mulgore
After a while, the burning sounds of my boar started to annoy me so Bjarn was back in action :D
then at 79, I replaced him again with Mahamba, the rare croc from STV

I should have named him Irony, but his name is FruitLupus. Second open beta I made it to 1k needles, and saw the purple hyenas there. Tamed one, named it ArtDptVctm and parked it in the middle of crossroads for the grand finale before launch. Hated them, swore they were the ugliest thing I'd ever seen in an MMO. Met some awesome people in second beta, rolled with them when launch came around. We were going up to the harpies to do some questies, and who was there but Snort the Heckler. I had tamed a couple different pets, and even run to Undercity for a black worg, but there was no click. Promptly tamed him and he's been with Sukul'atae ever since. He was her puller in MC, first hyena in BWL, and her goto pet for Flooperizing alliance who attack Crossroads. Floops was unofficial mascot for many raids until I switched to my 'lock for helping with Garr banishings.

I had to come out of lurking for this thread. Beware, the post shall be long and wordy! D:

Way back in Vanilla, just after release, I played on a now ex-boyfriend's account. I had picked a dwarf hunter. Dwarf for Gimli (I had never heard of Warcraft before and was a huge Gimli fan from LotR) and hunter for the pets. I played all night long on his account and met another hunter who had a lion and hyena from this far away land called The Barrens. I knew, I had to play this game. I got my own account and rolled my first character ever, Rafah, the dwarf hunter. After watching the first WoW movie trailer and seeing the dwarf hunter with its ultra realistic brown bear, I knew I had to have a bear. Running around at level 10, and I saw black bears. I fell in love and tamed my very first pet ever, Muta. Then I saw the wolves. I absolutely love dogs and wolves and knew one had to be mine. So I tamed a normal grey wolf who sadly has been abandoned at some point since.

Fast forward about a month and I've made a new best friend via the game. He and I decide to try Horde and on one of the new RP-PVP servers. Thus Kante, my tauren hunter, began her journey. I knew I wanted a wolf and by that time my new friend had taught me about Thot-bot and I had made new friends on Horde side who were teaching me to hunter. I learned about Lupos in Duskwood and knew, he had to be mine. I had the Rake from Mulgore for his attack speed, and knew that Lupos (at the time) did shadow-based damage instead of physical; but I fell in love with how he looked. I convinced my friend to run (No mounts til 40!) through STV with me to Duskwood at level 23, being ganked and camped all the while. There was no such thing as NPC_Scan and I didn't know what macros where (lol) at the time, so once we were wandering in Duskwood's forest, we went simply by sight. Ah, back when you could only track one mob type at a time! I had it set to humanoids for early warning of any possible pvpers. Finally after an hour of searching, my friend went to eat dinner. Left alone, I was cornered by a skull level Alliance who proceeded to camp me until a few minutes before my friend logged back in. I was heart broken, sure that out of spite he would find my beloved wolf and slay him as the final act of cruelty. Finally he left and I rezzed. Nearly in tears, I was ready to give up and was about to tell my friend so as he logged-in just then when -- "Hey, he just spawned by me!"
I ran as fast as my little tauren hooves could carry me and there he was, calmly checking us out before turning away as if disinterested. I hit tame while my friend healed me up (he was a tauren druid). Bam, Lupos was mine. I named him Morro and he never left my side after that. Even once his shadow-based damage was *fixed* and I grew to the level that other pets would have been better, especially on a pvp server, Morro never left my side except when I had to tame others to learn new ranks for Morro's attacks. I remember solo running into LBRS to tame a wolf there for over two hours just to learn the last rank of bite for him (I couldn't wait for my friend to form a group for me, just for that!) In fact, when I hit level 60 for the very first time, in LBRS, Morro was by my side and would later ding 60 himself, later in the instance. Kante is now on a normal RP server and sits at level 80 as my banker and auctioneer with additional pets in her stables. But Morro is still there as well, the exact same one. He shall never leave her side.

In BC I picked up the addiction of alts and one such alt has since become my main. At first a male blood elf hunter, now a female dwarf, Arte has changed servers a few times but will always hold a special place in my heart. Just this past Sunday night I was working on Archeology in Uldum when I turned around and... Blue Madexx! I started shaking and going through the pets I had with me. I decided to drop Mercy, one of the new saber model pure white cat, for Madexx. Just as I was about to freeze him -- he suddenly veers away and dies. I look down in surprise and agony as a tauren shaman loots him and dances on his corpse. My heart dropped and I let myself be mad for a few minutes before hatching a scheme. Was Madexx a lucky sign? Would Mercy's sacrifice be for something great still?
I logged, turned off Archy and back on NPC Scan, wiped my cache and flew to Twilight Highlands. Somewhere, the luck and magic of Madexx would help me find Sambas. I just knew that some coding and pixels that had been ment for me would find me still in the form of a floofy lion. I circled his spawn points for a few hours while I watched my husband finish up Assassin's Creed. Sleep drove me to bed but on nights I'm camping a rare, I hardly sleep. (I once had a dream Loque had spawned and set my NPC off, but that's another story...!)
I woke up at 4 am to fly a circle for ten minutes. Nothing. Back to sleep and woke up at 6 am. Nothing. Went back to sleep and reluctantly got up at 10:30 am. Surely there would be nothing. I should eat some breakfast and go for a walk like normal. But, I had to check first. I was chatting with my husband when -- war drums! I squealed and shouted, "My kitty!" I dropped from mid-air while my husband cheered me on from next to me. I dropped a trap and -- I was too far away! What to do?! Ah-ha! Wyvern sting!
A sleepy floofy lion slowly began to form a bond with Arte. Since then I've enjoyed showing him off to guildies, letting them fawn over his gorgeous mane. He's been named Chapel, taking the name I was reserving for my third Spirit Beast hopeful, Karoma, since I had to drop BM to raid. I only hope that next raid, no one minds if I don't provide a buff (since we have a DK) so Chapel can learn what its like to be one of Arte's partners.

I'm lazy, so I'm going to copy/paste one of my old threads for this. This is my greatest, most hard-won tame by far:
Rhyela wrote:OMG, still reeling from the disbelief that I actually got him!!! Ever since the first time I found him, and lost him due to three 80's swooping in and killing him, I've been what my husband calls, "obsessed" (can't imagine where he'd get that from). I spent several hours yesterday looking for him again, from about 8:00 in the morning til about 1:30 this morning (not non-stop, but often). Nothing. So today I called off work due to my lack of sleep last night, and went back to bed. But I laid there, thinking, "I need to check, just once. What if he's there? Just go check and go back to bed". So that's what I did. I started out in Nesingwary's camp, and flew clockwise. First, up west by The Maker's Perch where I first saw him. Nothing. My heart sank a little. Continued on anyway toward Glimmering Pillar and THERE HE WAS. I couldn't believe it! I go down to tame, and not even looking at my surroundings, start taming right next to Farunn. CRAP. I feign, and start to fly away to look for another pet. A blood elf paladin arrives. "NO NOT AGAIN!" I think to myself, so I fly up, emote /no, /beg, and /plead. He actually leaves! Wow. I'm putting humanoid tracking on now. I already know KK is there, I need to know if any people are there that might kill him. Ok. I go grab another pet, go up again, and begin the tame. Well, he got a couple huge crits in or something because I'm down to about 1k health with at least 4 seconds left on the tame. In frustration and anger I storm out of the room to grab my phone. Last resort, my brother. I dare not ask anyone in general because that only invites someone to be mean. I must be...covert. My brother was awake, hurray! But now the painfully long couple minutes must go by before my brother can get there (resto shaman). I sit and wait for him. Thankfully no one comes by, whew. He finally gets there. We got one shot at this, heroism has a 10-minute cooldown. He gives me earth shield, pops heroism, and I pull Krush with a distracting shot + scorpid sting, then begin my taming macro (TBW+abandon+tame). He charges me, right in the middle of TBW. Nooooo! There go precious fear-immune seconds. But that's ok, we're doing this anyway. My brother's earth shield and heroism prove to be a HUGE help, as finally, the tame bar dwindles, dwindles, dwindles, and finally KRUSH IS MINE!!! I'm still all shaky and ecstatic! Just funny how I just had this tugging to go check. Wow. So after thanking my brother a billion times (and him replying back that I'd better help when he wants Aotona, hehe), I log on my horde alt to thank the pally that didn't kill Krush, unlike the allies that did a couple days ago. I offered him money, but he said he didn't want it. He said he was just glad I finally got him and that he's happy for me. Again, thanked him profusely, and logged. I have renamed Krush Apollyon (the Destroyer). It seems a fitting name.

I know people say that when you see your tame sitting there, not to panic. But when that adrenaline is flowing and you realize that here sits the beast you've been looking for (even moreso when you've lost it once or more already), you can't help but be excited beyond words. Took three tries (five if you count the previous time), but it paid off. And calling off of work paid off, too (though I didn't call off specifically for Krush, he was a fortunate by-product).

By the way, I am level 75. Probably very over-ambitious to try to tame him but I had decent gear so I figured I'd try it. Couldn't have done it without help, that's for sure.

Ok, enough yacking. Here's my pride and joy whom I shall never EVER get rid of.

I honestly don't remember my first rare on Shadé.

I will say the pet that I camped for the most was Loque'nahak-I looked for that darned cat for four MONTHS-spending all nighters staying up flying around that darned Basin til I found him.

He was my first spirit beast and the reason that I made a hunter in the first place. When I finally found the darn thing I almost cried O_o.

I know I shook like a leaf.

Then when my best friend got her hunter leveled up? Took me one pass through the Basin to find the cat for her.

Let's see here.
My first pet that I tried to get was my Ghost saber, always used her till I was in Outland.

My first pet I tried to camp was Loque'Nahak, it actually took me about a week with on and off camping. First day of camping I find him dead a one of the spawns and then tried again a bit later. After camping most of the night later in the week, he finally spawns at midnight right when I was about to log off. Hes been one of favorite pets ever since. Named him Dushan, and I use him quite often. My second camp I did was for Arcturis, and sat there for days on and off, got him and she is now happily named Misha. :)

Before yesterday, my longest, hardest tame was a ghostsaber on an alt (which has since grown up to become a babymain). There were just so many issues, it refused to spawn, and things were generally hell.

Now? Arcturis. 24+ hours and I still haven't found him. 13 hours straight and he didn't show his face once. I'm worried on how this one is going to end up.
