New character
New character
My hunter is soon to ding level 85 and I want to start a new character as soon as he's fully geared and proffed up. The only problem is... I have no clue what kind of character I want to play besides hunter. Race or Class wise. I want something new and refreshing from blood elves or hunters. Important factors are: instances and battlegrounds. Raids aren't a priority as that's what my hunter will be for.
Any advice? What are your personal alts?
Thanks,
Eidren.

Re: New character

I'm alli so I can't really make any suggestions as to race, but for class I'll say this: you have to decide if the "new and refreshing" you want means 1) a different kind of dps (melee or caster), 2) a tank, or 3) a healer. Then you can start thinking about what races you can choose between.
I'm a complete altoholic, so I love planning new alts... I hope you have fun with it!

Re: New character
I very much recommend a mage, with undead as my favorite race, leveling with frost/arcane is just so much fun, and survivability is surprisingly high.
I also exist on DeviantArt.

Re: New character
so far i've narrowed it down to either warlock or paladin.

I really like the wow.joystiq.com 101 class guides, they give a good idea of what's a good spec and spell priority so that you can quickly figure out the class. (A couple of years ago I completely shelved my shammy because I didn't like her... turns out I was just plain playing her wrong.

Re: New character
I started a lock a long time ago, didn't like her. Nonetheless, she made it to....25ish before the Shattering hit. And then? I adored her. She rocketed all the way up to her 70's. You may think demons lack personality, but mine have so much. Chomir, her imp, is a protector. Darkstar, her felhound, is her old black wolf pet that was corrupted. Maxwell, her felguard, is her signature pet. No, I don't officially rename my pets, but I introduce them as such and that's how they're known.
So yeah. Give locks a shot.
Re: New character
Personally I'd be inclined to go Pally if you can stand the first 20 or so levels, which (unless they've been changed drastically, which is a possibility) are OP as both healers and tanks and incredibly useful in a variety of situations. Also, pretty much guaranteed insta-queues if you spec prot/holy.
Of those you didn't suggest, though, Priest healing, at the moment, is possibly the funnest healing class in-game. Both disc and holy are great, depending on your playstyle (bf loves disc, I love holy). Really fun stuff.

Re: New character
1) They are extremely fun as a melee class.
2) They can also self heal very nicely, especially after you get max ranks of Maelstrom Weapons and your spirit kennel.
3) You can solo a lot of the group quests if you want or need to for whatever reason.
4) You can take ranged casting (Elemental) or healing (Resto) as off-specs if you get tired of meleeing.
5) Bloodlust at level 70 on demand regardless of spec, enough said.
6) Goblin totems are the best looking ones out there.
7) If you take engineering, nothing says "dangerous lunatic" quite like a Goblin in techno goggles.
I've had so much fun playing one that he's my main toon now. The only sucky thing about starting fresh with him was having to grind all my reps up again and do the Argent Tourney dailies for each city (25 days of valiant quest, blech), but the plus side is that Enhance Shammies can grind most Heroic LK (and older) dungeons without too much trouble if those reps matter to you.
