Smolderos the Carbonizer
While questing in mount hyjal and getting killed by Smolderos the Carbonizer I decided that I was going to tame him, sure he can one shot me and sure there are easier corehounds with his skin to get. After alot of tries later I got him and noticed that his passive sound was diffrent then other corehounds, and when he attacks the also sounds diffrent. Can anyone else try to tame him just incase I just hear wrong?
Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
I tamed him at 82 the other day (lucky misses), and didn't notice anything different. I have since abandoned him though, so I can't check.

For those who want to test, he's not immune to freeze traps.

Come see Kurasu's stables!

Keilden, can you describe what exactly is different? Also, try taming an easy-to-get core hound, and comparing the sound with your Smolderos.

Cute doesn't need an explanation.

Tamed a easy to get, Smolders "burning" sounds is more silent then the standard. His growls are more emmm demonic.

Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
So, does Smolderos have the Beast/Mag sound file, or something totally new?

Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
Yeah, the Magmadar sounds are the first thing I'd suspect--quieter idle iirc and different fighting sounds completely.
Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
Is Smolderos larger than regular corehounds after he's tamed? I seem to remember someone telling me he was, but I sort of doubted it was true.

Hmm, I have The Beast on Cialbi, and I don't think that Smolderos has been phased out yet, so I'll go check this when I get the chance. May be a week or two, though.Acherontia wrote:Yeah, the Magmadar sounds are the first thing I'd suspect--quieter idle iirc and different fighting sounds completely.

Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
Smolderos is definitely a lot quieter, however, he hits harder than Terrorpene, so definitely put him into an ice cube before taming =P
Re: Smolderos the Carbonizer
Bah I did it the hard way, no trap for me! So I guess I can tame Terrorpene without any problems then.
