This was going to be my point, too. :)

Not Exotic: Dragonhawk, Windserpent, Nether Ray, Sporebat
Exotic: Worm, Rhino

Just in the 'looks' department, there is no 'exotic' and 'not exotic', for sure. What they do and don't want as 'exotic' is pretty much a cointoss in the 'looks' area. ;)

The 'no third exotic family' is a little more telling for me, but even that isn't a definite. After all, this isn't going to be their 'dead last' pet. And they won't always be adding three members. So it'll always be a little unbalanced.

A pattern's a pattern. Either way, I'll give it another week or so before we hear anything new regarding them. The cat's out of the bag and the evidence that they are working towards tameable hydras is obvious. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they intended hydras for the Fireland patch. I'm quite curious as to how big they will end up being.

Well, what's interesting is that the majority of the Firelands patch content has been moved to 4.1, while Firelands itself is coming in 4.2. We may very well not see any hydra testing in 4.1 if they're not ready to even be tested. In that case, we may be in for a very long wait, if this does actually happen.

At any rate, just because hydra abilities were datamined, it does NOT mean that we're getting them. Blizzard might very well have rejected the idea already (for whatever reason), but those abilities were left in the files someplace by accident. Until we actually see tamable hydras on the PTR, it's all just speculation on our part.

Zangor wrote:the evidence datamined this patch really begs to differ.......with the spell for being a tameable pet *tamed pet passive DND(hydra) and an ability called bellowing roar that specifically states the hydra buffs party and raid member's stats its gonna be hard to disprove that

also all hydras i can find have a diet on beast lore

if they are indeed becoming tameable i cant wait for blizz to flip the switch
right now it looks like they arent exotic either so this might be blizz giving non BM hunter acess t the 5% crit buff that devilsaurs have right now
Frankly, you're expecting too much. They can make a new ability that they intend to give to a certain class, then change their mind and not give that class said ability, but the ability can still be datamined. The logical conclusion shouldn't be that any player abilities that get datamined will actually be given to players.

To further extrapolate on this, anything that is just datamined by Boub should NOT be taken as official until it's put in a blue post. Not everything that Boub datamines makes it in game.

Plus, this information was removed multiple times. Even Boubouille isn't comfortable putting it out there, regardless of it turning up.

I'm just going to chalk this up to it being either A) a cruel joke or B) someone thought they saw /heard /read something they really didn't. :(
I am not going to get my hopes up any more and just consider this to be an error.

Just think of it like this, they obviously considered it or still are (Impossible to tell which) otherwise data mining wouldn't have thrown it up :) So till both this patch and Firelands are kicked out the door I wouldn't call it a total loss and from our point of view it's still a possibility.

But if you get so hooked up on OMG IT'S GONNA HAPPEN and start arguing over what it will or won't be then you're defiantely setting yourself up for disappointment.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

To be honest, this stuff here is why I never did the PTR thing before 4.0.6. You people can be assured it's the cool pets that made me start looking around last time. ;) And the cool pets are, really, the only thing keeping me interested in the PTR this time. I don't like datamining. I'm not interested in people saying two months ahead 'OMG WE'RE GOING TO GET THIS'. I prefer official notes from a couple weeks (or a week, or whatever) until release. :D

.... but... but... *PETS!*

Actually, for me, I ignored the datamining evidence. The part that got *my* happies up was the new hydra icon on my hydralisk. And the 'empty stable slot' there. They're obviously working with *something* on it. And Blizzard doesn't have a habit of taking pets away, so I'm hoping the 'tameability of hydras' is the more likely thing they're working on.

i actully think they r going to be tamable just look at the facts. fact 1= people who have hydras checked and they r there own family.fact 2= why would petopia keep that hydra family page in the air if it was definitely wasnt going to be tamable. So it is quite a possibility they r going to be. Ill keep my eyes open on the ptr

As awesome a site as Petopia is, it isn't an official source, merely a fanpage. Although the Hydra page exists, it's not linked to anywhere on the main page due to the great uncertainty surrounding Hydras at this time. Mania placed it up so that if they are made tamable, most of the work to place the family up on the website is already done. She's prepared like that. ;)

I am BM/surv and i do more dps in bm then any other and its my fav btw about hydras they appear as tho they could be any spec almost so it may take a while for devs to decide(if it is made into the game), if it does have the same ability(Bellowing Roar)(5%crit) id assume regardless of exotic it would be cunning or ferocity because tenacity pets dont have crit on their abilities.

Hydra's may not make it to 4.1 live Because nobody knows how long the testing phase may be and also with just diet, ghost hydras appearing as empty stable slots and such.

but i do believe that they wont let 4.1 go live without either removing everything hydra-based from the 4.1 patch or completing it upon going live.

these are just theories and ideas and sorry for goin off topic again anybody heard anything about the Glyph of Greater Proportion turning into Lesser Proportion? because it wasnt stated in a patch note and people want it changed back perhaps it was an accident on blizz's part or they changed their minds :?: well thats all i have to say :)

There is nothing hydra-based about patch 4.1. Everytime hydras get leaked on MMO-C, they're rushed right back off. We don't really know what's going on with hydras and we don't really get much of a say in it. And even if they don't give us hydras in 4.1, there's always future patches to look for, especially since 4.2 is hitting the PTR right after 4.1 goes live. :)

We don't know what kind of issues they may or may not be having making hydras tamable either. It could turn out that they're having some problems coding them, or it could be as simple as them not wanting to reveal them as tamable until the last possible second.

I agree that they may scrap the idea but i believe they will try to get it done before 4.1 goes live and what i mean hydra based is beast-lored hydras having diets, having its own(even if not finalized) ability and icon and changing the ghost hydra to an unmovable empty stable slot(this however may be because the hydralisk changed to the hydra family and perhaps they do not wish for it to be used until they are finished or decide to scrap it).

Now that thats outta the way id like to theorize what talent spec the hydras would/will have im thinking ferocity and exotic because hydras are exotic looking and if u think about it its three heads are always fighting if its not already attacking something, to tame such a beast would require beast mastery dont u think? chimeras and core hounds both have two heads both exotic see where im goin here?

all exotic beast's usually are either big or have 2 or more heads

Core Hounds
Chimeras
Rhino's
Worms( most of em)
Devilsaurs

ones that dont make much sense as exotic are Silithids and Shale Spiders unless u count the boss silithids

id like to get more feedback on this btw ty ;)

silithids technically are creations of an old god and they have above average intelligence for a beast thats why their hives are always threats wherever they pop up
and i do see how the multiple heads would make it feel exotic

Wain's already said that just because a mob turns into a beast and has a diet when beast lored doesn't mean that Blizzard will make them tamable (looking at you python snakes). The only really suggestive thing to the possibility of tamable hydras is that they got their own family icon.

I'm still hoping they won't be exotic just because that's a huge slap in the face of the hunter player base that wanted hydras, but hates BM.

hunters got more non exotic families this expansion compared to the 1 new exotic shale spiders
i think another cataclysm exotic would be a logical choice and the fact that the supposed ability for the hydra appears to be an exotic raid buff/

but wither way would be good....BM isnt that bad and with dual spec you can always have uit as an off spec blizz did a good job at upping BMs damage from wrath

ty Zangor i didnt know that about silithids btw i have a purple silithid boss if only it would stop with that sound i had it when 4.0.3 came out from un guro crater wouldnt attack barely moved etc and the diet does not determine tamable beast but combined with the ability and icon id assume its atliest classified as Conjecture

I still would rather them be non exotic so that every one cna enjoy them. I know you could easly have a duel spec but someof us don't like the BM playstyle etc
