Crimson Deathcharger Price?

Unread post by Acherontia »

So, I'm toying with the idea of saving up cash for a Crimson Deathcharger. I think orc females look amazing on horse mounts, I love them, and I LOVE the Death Knight mount. Since I can't get one for my orc, Crimson Deathcharger's the next best thing ;)

So, how much do they go for on your server? Mine's quiet enough that, even once I got the gold, I imagine I'd have to advertise for a long while on the forum. I've heard anything from 30k to 120k gold, so I am expecting the worst (120 or so), but is that the norm?

Thanks for any info!

On my server they go for 50k or 45k depending. Friend's server they have an abundance and crap economy so they go for like 20k. >_<;;

On my server I've seen them from around 60k-100k :) I'd just suggest that as you save up, whenever you're in a city do a quick AH search and get a vague price idea that way. It's amazing the price difference you can get too. I've seen VotS go from 40-60k - so when I get mine I'm aiming for 35k-40k. Well worth the extra wait to get pricings on your server :D

Yeah 65ish on my server too atm. If you hold out you may be lucky enough to get one a bit cheaper, or find someone who is 1/2 way through the ICC quests and ask them to hold/save it for you for a cheaper price. I did that my self and managed to get one about 15k off the current AH price. You just have to wait and see I guess. If you do manage to save 120 k though, if you don't spend it all you will have a lot left to buy the next mount on your list :D

Awesome, thanks guys :)

I already have the Sandstone Drake; I paid 45k for that one, to give you an idea of my server's economy. Then again I doubt that particular mount, like the Mechanohog/Mekgineer's Chopper, varies much due to the vendor mats' cost.

Anyway I'll keep an eye on the Auction House as I save, as suggested. I'm a terrible packrat, and if something doesn't sell on the AH, I tend to simply mail it around between alts to "store" it  This means that I went and emptied some 300 auctions' worth of items from mails alone, and now I'm gonna fish up Volatile Fires until I can't stand it anymore! At least I have Petopia to keep me busy in the meantime :)

Thanks again!

On Illidan it depends. If there are more than one up, they hover between 50 and 65 thousand. If there's only one up, it can get to 100. I don't know how well they sell.

I'm debating getting one myself, particularly because right now there's three or four hovering at 55k. I'm waiting to see if they'll drop a little more.

There's hardly any even on my server. Dear lord. I would never buy this mount. ever. XD I would just continuously farm for it tbh. Then again, the most expensive mount I paid for was my own Sandstone Drake, 29k g vendor mats since crafting it was NP for my guildie.

Anyways price ranges on my realm are from 60-95k gold.

I think anything under 60k for it would be a great deal for it. Maybe you could even get some guildies together and start working on a Shadowmourne? How hard (time consuming wise) would it be to save up one of those? There are a couple other awesome items that one gets within that box (like the Tabard, the one portal thingy, and 2 other items that seem pointless)...

I never looked up about the process for Shadowmourne, I assume its lengthy, but perhaps at lvl 85 it would be easier?

Shadowmourne is lengthy because of the shard-gathering part.

The quest chain starts with "The Sacred and the Corrupt" http://www.wowhead.com/quest=24545 And since they nerfed the number of souls you need for "A Feast of Souls" from 1000 to 50 (holy nerf batman), you can, in theory, go from the first step through the infusions in one night if you come prepared your raid is patient enough to do things in a particular order and wait for you to turn in quests between bosses. For details on the specifics of the quests and the infusions, just follow the wowhead links that lead from The Sacred and The Corrupt. Or PM me and I'll explain it, but it's a lot of typing for people that might not care to read wall of text.

THEN comes the grind. You have to get 50 shadowfrost shards. They drop like Val'anyr fragments, off of 25-man bosses, and NOT 100% (Not even from Lich King). And as far as anyone has reported, the droprate has not been buffed (though they have a higher droprate than Val'anyr fragments did and there is an even higher chance for them to drop off of heroic bosses as opposed to normal). It will take weeks if you are lucky and more likely a couple of months or more.

Then you get a quest to kill the lich king. He will drop a chest, lootable by ONLY THE PERSON ON THE QUEST, regardless of master looter. This starts a quest which you turn in to Mograine, when allows you to get the five quest-starter items that lead to the eventual rewards. These five quest-starters are still BoP to whomever had the Shadowmourne quest, but the rewards, as we know, are BoE.

Once a player turns in the Sealed Chest, it will not drop again for that player, regardless of whether or not they abandon the final quest to kill the Lich King. And since the chest is BoP-Unique, you can't just put off turning it in to get multiples (aside from the fact that you most likely couldn't repeat the sealed chest quest anyway, the same way you can't repeat Ony/Nef head quests). If multiple people are on the quest to kill the Lich King, a Chest will drop for each of them.

honestly at level 85 the hard part is not the mat gathering, the prequests, the soul gathering, or even the shard gathering (though that will be long and slow, but not hard). it will solely be the infusions, and the blood queen infusion in particular.

definitely do some research on it and find a team you are comfortable with to help you infuse your axe. pugs will not be able to do blood queen infusions.

i got my axe on my paladin in wrath, and the mount was selling for 75k on my server at the time. i chose to go ahead and learn it (since i love and collect mounts!) but i would assume it would be worth more now than in wrath, seeing as how gold amounts of just about everything has inflated, and with an empty ICC it's harder to get.

Just wanted to thank all the repliers again and post an update--and ask for another piece of advice.

First off, I've found an ally who expects to be selling the mount 25 days from now, and has agreed to sell it to me for 100k.

So for the last week or two, I've been grinding up alts (80-85) who can mine/herb and get gold from quests & vendoring trash/quest rewards. Been herbing & mining, prospecting the ore & selling gems. I've done daily heroics long enough to get a valor item, which I traded for another item which I sold for 15k. Have also made an epic BoE, which only ended up selling for 5k, and I did sell the Hyacinth Macaw for 9 or 10 in the end. I've made around 60k since I made this post originally, so I shouldn't have trouble meeting the goal in time.

My main issue is this: the seller is Alliance, and I am Horde. I assume she'll want the gold traded, or want to get 100k even from selling it on AH after the cut (on Neutral it's 15% now iirc). Can anyone tell me if there's a better way of getting gold x-faction, bar a transfer? And/or, can anyone do the math, and tell me what she'd have to put it up for (buyout) in order to get 100k even after the AH takes its cut? I'm absolutely horrendously bad at math, and this is something I do *not* want to get wrong!

The Neutral AH's cut is 15%, if I recall correctly, so you'd have to pay 115k in order for her to get her even 100k I believe. Ouch.

ugh thats spending ALOT for this mount, i would say close to top dollar on what its retail value is.

if you have patience at all i would wait on purchasing this mount. or else try bartering with the alliance guy to see about dropping the price.

i know server economy is different everywhere else, but hearing about people spending 50-60k on a mount that you're about to drop 115k on... is just....

i dont know, its your money after all, i just think 115k is a bit of a ripoff :(

Yeah, I think the main issue is raid activity--in WotLK we had maybe 3-4 people on realm that I know of with Shadowmourne, whereas I'm pretty sure it was commonplace elsewhere. It's NOT an active raiding server--we have exactly 3 raidguilds on Horde, as far as I'm aware, and another which just transferred here last week for "bad competition" >.>

On Alliance we had a few, but the big "realm first" guild left for Al'Akir before Cataclysm launch.

Point being, there's not a lot of raid guilds, or even large guilds capable of leading a raid, around to run even old raids for Shadowmourne and whatnot.

Any idea if that would make it more... "worth it?"

I haven't seen any activity on the Alliance char's armory page regardless, so in a few more days I'll ask her for an update. If she's just *gone* after about a week I'll start asking around on Horde!

(Incidentally, with the math, I think it's actually around 118k >.>)
