10 day pet buffs? Strange pet bug...
So, I have no idea what is causing this, but my Devilsaur has 10 days left on each of his buffs (Rabid, Terrifying Roar, and Dash). I have Screenshots at the bottom of the post.
Now, I don't want to get dinged for using an exploit, but I had nothing to do with these buffs apparently lasting 21 days. (it's been 11 days that he's been sitting in the stable since I last saw this.) Should I alert a GM? Should I just not use this pet for the next 10 days? What would you guys do?

Yeah, I think someone else made a post about this. It's just a bug, not an exploit on your part. Just send the pet to go die; when you resurrect it, it should be debuff free.
Also from personal experience with my pets doing this; it's more of a bug with the icons than the actual buffs. What I mean by that is, is that even though it says my pet has the buff, my pet isn't actually gaining benefit from said buff. Just what I recall noticing on my pets anyhow.

Re: 10 day pet buffs? Strange pet bug...
I had this glitch with my crocolisk and Bestial Wrath/Frenzy. I fixed it before a GM talked to me on the matter but I think it stops being a bug and starts being an exploit if you use the pet in dungeons/PvP and so on, since they are actually benefiting from the buff nine times out of ten. If they aren't and you can prove so, I suppose there's no harm done, but still. I believe the glitch has something to do with stabling the pets while they are under the effects of said buffs - so if you had your devilsaur out, dismissed him without waiting for the buffs to fade, and eventually stuck him in the stables, he would still have those buffs. My croc had Eck Residue on her still as well, and that was from months and months ago.
The 'cure' is really as simple as dragging your pet out to either a level appropriate area or one higher than you - pets can take a lot of beating, so toggle everything off of autocast, move them towards a mob, and go get a coffee. I ended up misdirecting another mob to my croc because even at 82 she didn't want to die. :P They should be buff-free upon resurrection. If not, I'd suggest opening a ticket.

Hey, hey, I ressed her right after and gave her tons of attention. D: I love my Scuppers, otherwise I wouldn't have taken her out of the stables in the first place. Besides, I think it was better to get two and make it quick than have one mob beat on her for half an hour. The only other option was to wait for a GM to kill her or go retame her, and I have no intentions of ever going back to Stormwind. xDIronale wrote:Nubhorns wrote: I ended up misdirecting another mob to my croc because even at 82 she didn't want to die.![]()

If you feel horrible doing this, as I do, you can make sure your pet is summoned, fly to a decent height so that if you fall you'll lose ~2/3 hp (any higher and the pet will despawn before you hit the ground). Drop, mount, repeat, die. The pet's buffs will clear when YOU die.
It may also be a FASTER method!

I (unfortunately?) had the opposite experience last time I got this bug: my wolf ended up with Rabid and Mend Pet with a month remaining. I think it was doing more damage from the Rabid buff, though it's admittedly not something I'm good with and I certainly didn't test it very hard-- but I had a point in Improved Mend Pet.TygerDarkstorm wrote:Also from personal experience with my pets doing this; it's more of a bug with the icons than the actual buffs. I eventually stabled the bugger just because I couldn't stand the cleansing spell effect sound going off constantly in my left ear. o_<
Acheronita, you forgot to mention the most important part: get naked first!

I've gotten this multiple times, usually I just stick my pet on passive and have a guildie come duel me and kill them.
I think GMs already know it's going on, probably best to either put in a ticket or wait until it's patched.

Not the first time I've seen this. And it's not exclusive to us Hunter's.
A guildie returned to WoW to start playing Cataclysm a little late, but couldn't use her Felguard (Demo Lock). It had the "Summoning Disorientation" debuff for like 20 day duration, and that outright stuns the pet.
We managed to remove it by having her start to summon a different one and interrupt it, as the new 3 second debuff over-wrote the 20 day one. Thankfully. It's hard to get your pet killed, when it can't attack

Re: 10 day pet buffs? Strange pet bug...
My devilsaur had a 14 day Beastial Wrath buff on him and my raptor had a 12 day mend pet buff on him. But it can have it's negatives. Both my bears at the same time had a 20 day "Play" buff on them so all they did was sleep. Couldn't bring myself to get them killed so they hibernated in the stables.
