If I come out of a bg and someone had the rare as a pet in the game, or if I open up my stables and I have one of the rares, my overlays are gone and I have to reset.

There is also an option in NPC scan to not display the overlay if you have killed it, I have that turned on as well for the achievement tracking. Those overlays will not come back even if you reset.

That definitely sounds strange, I've never had that happen.

And about that, I'm going to try not to argue with you, but I have turned those on and off and they have never been lost, so no idea what your computer is messing with.

I finally caught him on Moon Guard at exactly 5:00am. Camped him for 3 days total.

I would definately suggest a good playlist of music, and a friend who would be willing to tag along. One of my friends in game sat up with me majority of the night, he stayed on one side of the map around spawning locations and I on the other. We both had lack of sleep which caused for some interesting conversations over Oovoo, (we used that to talk to each other rather than a vent) Although we both had some frustrations, we kept each other company.
Last night, after nearly 12 hours of camping, at around 2am, we decided to go to sleep. I however set my alarm for 2 hours later, woke up around 5am, and BAM! There was Sambas. It was such a good feeling! I also advise that you ask around in maybe general or something to see if anyone has seen Sambas, or know of when he was last tamed/killed to help you get a better time frame of when to look. I only wish I had that when I was camping. >< I found Sambas almost directly behind Thundermar, and only used the classic "/tar" macro. Needless to say, I woke up really really fast this morning when it actually hit him!

It's now 11:28am, haha my friend is still sleeping. I can't wait for him to sign on so I can tell him the good news!

I just got him yesterday.
I just ended raid, went to do the northrend angler. I did the achievement and thought i would go have a luck in twilight highlands.
Just i went into the "who" and typed in hunter twilight highlands and i lost my hops. 6 hunters in twilight highlands lvl 85 and i had seen most of them flying around looking for him before.
So i just started flying to the first spot, lost even more confidence seign a hunter just above the ground waiting......
My last spot would be at victors point. I spammed my /tar macro. Suddenly my screen blew red and and sound in my headset + i targeted him with my /tar macro. My heart raised. Flew down and tamed him now im a happy hunter without an idea what to name him
