Vengeance of the Soultakers

[Lupis]

You've done it! The Sinistra whispered in Solara's mind, her voice overjoyed. I can tell you how to get them working. First you must find a groove in the ground, opposite the silver mirror. Quickly now! Clear away all the plants around it!

[Azunara]

Solara flicked her tail, peering for the groove while the black mirror was taken off the silver one. There was a brief search, and then one of the Dusk called out as they found it, slicing away the plants.

[Lupis]

Good! Now, put the silver mirror in that slot, standing upright. And the Obsidian mirror should be placed opposite of it, so the reflective surfaces face each other. When they reflect endlessly, that's the right position. The Sinistra explained, then spoke to the other Soultakers. "We're almost free. My host is slowly getting things done.."

[Azunara]

Solara nodded, repeating the information to the Dusk, who moved to position the silver mirror in the directed slot. Another small group of Dusk moved the Obsidian mirror in its position, and looked hopefully at the mirrors, tense. Now was the moment!

[Lupis]

The Sinistra was thrilled and had to work to keep from bombarding Solara's mind with thoughts of triumph. Lastly, you need to prick a paw or a finger and trace the runes on each mirror with blood. They need a trace of life on them so they can work, and blood is the purest form of life.

[Moonlost]

The hundreds of Soultakers trapped within the mirror began to talk amongst themselves excitedly. They had spent an eternity trapped in this pocket dimension, so long that the sensations of the outside world were but a faint echo of a memory. To touch, to see, to hear, to live! And this time, they would not make the same mistakes they had before. There would be no rebellion, any that dared to face them would be squashed like insects.
Deep within the mirror, He Who Sleeps In The Waking Dream stirred more, as if He could sense the grand rebirth of his people.

In the grotto, blood red flowers began to bloom all over the plants creeping over the walls. The smell of honeysuckle grew stronger, almost to sickening proportions.

[Azunara]

There was a slight, slow apprehension pricked Solara, but she tried not to worry about it. She dug a claw in one of her paws, slowly moving forward to trace the runes. Another Dusk moved to take care of the other mirror, carefully doing as ordered. Solara finished first, stepping away, ears pricked, watching.

She felt queasy, the smell making her sneeze.

[Moonlost]

There was a brief moment as the blood settled on the golden runes untouched, seeping a little from their placement. Then slowly, surely, the red liquid was absorbed into the arcane runes. The sigils began to glow, faintly at first, but soon the entire grotto was bathed in a bright, blood red light. The runes began to melt, seeming to drip down inside the reflections, deeper and deeper into infinity, until it seemed that each mirror was really a red waterfall, dripping into another plane of existence.

Abruptly, the sickeningly sweet honeysuckle smell changed to the sharp, metallic scent of blood. Screams of pain and laughter echoed around the grotto, reverberating off the walls, becoming a shrill cacophony of manic noise.

Those who still looked at the mirrors could see... things beginning to crawl their way out. Shadowy forms, vaguely humanoid, although there was something much more horrific about them. Bright blue flames burned in the place of where a human would have eyes. Sharp, shadowy fingers grasped at each mirror reflection, pulling themselves up with remarkable speed.

Finally, the first shadow thing was free. Screeching in ecstasy, it flung itself at one of the dusk, pushing it's fingers though the pokemon's chest. The creature screamed in pain and fright as the shadow pushed itself into it's body, huddling in the floor in pain, though no marks were left by the passing of the shadow into it. Then it's eyes briefly flared with blue fire, and the pokemon stood erect, a toothy grin on it's face.

“FREE!” It cried out, just as hundreds more of it's shadowy companions emerged from the mirror. Some flew into the bodies of the dusk nearby, others flew far past the grotto into bodies many miles away.

Far away in the land of Unova, Kyurem shuddered in his icy tomb. They were free. He had failed, and could do nothing to help until his wounds were healed. Soon, the world would be at their blue flamed mercy.

[Lupis]

LIFE.

The Sinistra surged forth, laughing in complete joy. LIFE! Her shadowy soul-like form grinning horribly at Solara, speaking out loud. "Thank you, worm! The deed is done! Your reward is your mind! I will let you drive yourself insane, you won't need my help now!" She examined the world, looking for a suitable body. ((Eeer, any ideas?))

Buzzard roared in surprise, backing up. What the heck?!

[Moonlost]

((Hmm. Good question. Any of my characters, asside from Baaz, are up for the taking if they take your fancy :S .))

Vethor's shadowy form emerged crawling from the mirror, a grin splayed across his face. He turned to the great, firey lookign dragon, before diving at it, claws pointed forward to enter Buzzard's body.

[Azunara]

Solara bared her teeth, immediately putting up a shield to protect herself. She had been -lied- to! Betrayed! Again! She fell back a few steps, watching more and more Dusk fall to the Soultakers. "Buzzard!" She screamed, immediately worried for her brother.

And then...what was the point? In the end, they only lied and betrayed her. Everyone. Family, friends, strangers. What was the use of it? She scowled, her shield holding them at bay, but not for long. She was done. Through. She gathered her energy, humming softly. The sunlight flared, and the psyceon looked up at it, whining quietly. Only the sun had stayed constant.

She watched more Dusk fall as she whispered across her mental link, "Buzzard...Soundwave...I love you. Don't ever forget it. I'm sorry, so sorry." Her humming grew louder, more frantic, and the sunlight burned, forming a ring around the psyceon. "Never again. They'll never lie to me ever again!" She shouted, snarling in defiance as the Soultakers. "I'll die before I let it happen to me again!"

And with that, there was a blaze.

Solara used Solar Beam!

Then, the smell of burning fur and a scream of pain as the psyceon collapsed to the ground, faintly breathing. Her shield faded, but it didn't matter. She was near dead anyways. She gave a quiet, bitter laugh, closing her eyes. "I loved them..." She said to the world, softly, as if it mattered, and with it, exhaled her last.

And so, Solara, Former Dusk Champion, sister of Buzzard, Ghost, Shadwyn, Zerak, Julius, mate to Soundwave, and loyal Dusk, died, never to take what The Sinistra wanted to give her.

((Ah...fel. I'm crying.))

((AH DAMN YOU KAMIMPI! *hears a cat-fox laughing at this in a backround*...damn that was sad Solara was a good character))

((Fffff... Crying so much... Hitch in your plan, Moon. >.> Buzzard going BATSH*T.))

Buzzard backed away from the spirit, roaring in rage. He mentally tried to fight it off, roaring his defiance to the sk-

"SOLARA!!"

His scream died, his mind creating mental barriers out of grief. No. Not Solara. This was a trick, some stupid trick. The spirits were trying to make him weak, right?
He reached out to nudge Solara's body with his nose and froze, tears forming in his eye. It couldn't be a trick. The mental link was quiet.

"Sister..." he murmured miserably, lifting the body into his arms. He couldn't even see anymore. Something was roaring in the back of his mind. He stared in stupified shock at the body, hugging it close. "Sister... I loved you too..."

He was actively crying now, but the sorrow was shifting. Something in the back of his mind shifted from a roar to a crack, and his mind snapped.

The Dawn would pay. It was their fault. It was always them. Making some stupid mistake that hurt his sister, his dear sister. And they never knew what it did to her. The spirit-things would pay too, but the Dawn would burn.

He ignored the mirrors and the chaos. Still holding Solara's body close, he let out a screaming roar, spreading his wings to fly. He would watch them BURN!

[Azunara]

((Ah, this is worse. I felt bad for Sol, tears in my eyes, but dammit, Buzzard! I am so, so sorry. Augh.))

The Dusk were in chaos, and struggled to flee. Those that weren't fallen escaped, running, crying out. They heard Buzzard give a scream in grief, and they panicked, answering his cries with their own. Again. Again. They fell again!

[Moonlost]

Vethor's claws plunged itno the dirt below. Blue fire eyes stared up, watching the dragon rocket to the sky.
"Tch..." He grunted, although he wasn't about to let his new body just fly away. He had touched the dragon's midn briefly. Could sense his burning hatred for the so-called Dawn. Didn't Dextra have some sort of connection with the Dawn? He may be able to catch his quarry if he followed the Right Hand then. The Soultaker waited for the shadow-soul of Dextra to emerge, to find out where it was that he had stashed his little pet.

[Saturo]

Darkrai cheered as the chaos started. It was just as he had imagined it! Glorious! One of the shadows swooped up to him, circling him, and then launched itself into the body Darkrai was holding up. The human collapsed to the ground, but then got up, eyes glowing with the blue flames of a controlled body. She stretched out her limbs, joints cracking, and turned to Darkrai. "Fun time is about to start." Darkrai merely grinned.

[Lupis]

Buzzard didn't know how he knew where he was going, but he knew. He didn't know that someone was very quietly suggesting the location in his mind, and didn't notice the Sinistra's soft laugh.

He had never flown faster, either. Solara's body felt both feather light and as heavy as rock, reminding him each moment that she was gone. What would life be like without his sister?

... It wouldn't. It wouldn't be at all.

Perhaps that was a good thing.

The farm and the mountain were already below him. He let out a massive roar of warning, threatening anyone nearby. "YOU KILLED HER!" he shrieked, the fire on his back burning more brightly than it ever had before - pulsing out around him, the flames blue and white.

Baaz growled as he heard Buzzard's roar echoing though the passageway. Somethign was wrong. Very wrong.

"The hell was that?" Venin hissed, her fin-ears flattening agaisnt her neck. Asher whimpered and moved to beside his mother, scared despite himself.

... Yes. I live. And I WANT TO JOIN IN THE RP AGAIN. I AM BACK. Or at least, I want to be. I'm not entirely sure on what to do with any of my characters at the moment, so... ... Yeah. I'm totally stumped on how to jump back into the story. Grr.))
