I'm not even sure if this goes here or the rant thread but all my joints ache, I'm tired and it feels like a wolverine is trying to claw it's way out of my uterus. I threw up this morning first thing when I got up and feel dizzy. Sorry about all the complaining.

Cow, good luck with that guy you like and make sure you keep up with the no-go zone until you're healed, the last thing you need is to interrupt the healing process if it's not finished.

That sounds horrible. I hope you're able to see a doctor asap.

I find that if people get to know what's normal for themselves, they know when to go to the doctor. That said, keep up your gyno visits and don't be afraid to go to ask questions. Vagina Pagina, Babeland and some other sites have valuable information on health, masturbation and what to watch out for (And if you're in a tough financial situation, Planned Parenthood, Jane et al are good places for cancer screening, birth control and so on). And if you have severe period problems, definitely look into birth control pills. They really do help many people.

I had an interesting conversation with a nurse once at a non-gyn doctor. She asked me, as if she were quizzing me, if I knew when to do breast self-exams - before, during, or after my period. I told her I exam my breasts (using the approved circular patting examination thingie) several times a month. She told me I shouldn't examine my breasts at the wrong time in my cycle because they will feel 'weird' and I might scare myself.

*blink*

Yeah. I think I'm better off getting to know what's normal for me, thanks, whenever that might be. I can see where she was coming from, but ... seriously?

I think that advice is more key for younger patients who might not understand that many parts of one's body undergo cycles, not just the lower ones. The key tends to be 'don't panic' I think, personally.

But what an odd thing for her to say.

Detailed instructions for breast self-exams are about 2/3 of the way down the page.

So this is kinda sorta about reproduction in the sense that I reproduced and now I'm SUPER self conscious. I could stand to lose 20-30 lbs in order to get back to my pre-baby weight and although it doesn't sound like a ton, I FEEEL like a cow. And because I feel shitty I don't want to go workout because I don't want other people looking at me when I feel like this. I've never been a heavy set person so this is killing me. Have any of you petopia mom's defeated The Baby Weight?

Kry, I definitely can't give you any firsthand advice, but I will share my sympathy in spades. 20-30 pounds CAN be something you don't care about... but if it's making you feel bad, it's a problem. (Then again my approach is "I don't care what I weigh, I want to feel good!") So I will wish you luck, and a speedy response from the no doubt plethora of ladies who can help you out.

Yoga! Or how ever you spell at this time of day 8D
My friend whom recently became a mother has been doing yoga, but here we have a new mothers kinda group thing, so maybe go ask at a local yoga or gym place.
And ofc there are the exercise at home videos you can get so you can do it all in your home. Or what again what a mother friend of mine has done and used the Wii Fit (yeah I was shocked it worked to)
I think there should be a new mothers gym session somewhere out there or is this another weird Brit thing? But if there is you won't need to feel out of place since everyone will be in the same boat as you :)

I am about to step in and be an autocratic dictator again.

Discussing how weight affects us (male or female) and how to feel good and be healthy at any weight - excellent! (Obligatory HAES link.)
Suggestions or encouragement towards unhealthy weight-loss diets - not appropriate in this community. (Not just this thread.)

Not that anyone has even mentioned an unhealthy diet here - I just wanted to call this out as soon as possible. ;)

I think the best way to stay fit (not necessarily lose weight, though the two could go hand in hand), is to find a type of physical activity that you truly enjoy doing. Otherwise, it will just become a chore after a while and you'll find excuses not to do it. Try not to focus on a quantifiable goal, like "lose X pounds by [date], and instead on how much better you're feeling overall. The quantifiable stuff will happen without you even noticing it.

I need to find something like that myself, something that doesn't factor in other people at all. I fenced for two years. I enjoyed the sport itself, but I couldn't handle the social aspects of it. When your teammates spend half of an out-of-town tournament at the bar, and you're stuck in your hotel room alone because you don't drink, it's hard to not feel out of place.

Is it weird to say that I have enjoyed reading this thread quite a bit? P.S. tampon sportier here. :headbang:

So now that I have the living room to myself, mind if I ask for some advice? I've been have these odd fainting spells since I was 18 (now 23) where either:

Type "A") I develop a light stomach ache about one to three hours before anything happens, when the shit hits the fan my vision tunnels into black, I pass out, and then show symptoms of being severely dehydrated right afterwords, even if I had been drinking fluids normally all day. I can feel this type coming though about an hour ahead of time so I just sit down before I fall over, and then I'm fine as long as I can rest for about 30 mins (nap helps to). These are rare and only happen about once every two to four months tops. Last on I had was back in December.

Type "B") This is what happens most often. Sometimes after being "intimate" with my boyfriend where we get a bit more "into it" than normal (nothing crazy mind you and nothing that would constitute this reaction) I'll find that when I relax right afterwords I'll almost feel like my body is shutting down. I'm still all there mentally and have a firm grasp of my surroundings but I will have little to no control over my body, I wont be able to move my arms, legs, or even my mouth, my breathing will become very slow and shallow (up to the point of not breathing but about once every ten to twenty seconds if it gets bad enough), my vision gets a little blurry, my skin gets clammy or cool, and, for some reason, my tear ducts start leaking, sometimes heavily. It's a little frighting (though I'm kind of used to it by now so I don't panic unless it's really bad) but this type has been going on for only about three years tops and seems to come in ebbs and flows, off and on for a month or two every two to three months. Once I get a little water into my system I start to snap out of it but, once again, I have no control over my body so Ken (bf) has to hold my head up and pour water into my mouth before I can hold the glass and drink normally. Poor guy, scares the shit out of him every time and makes him super protective/nosy for about a week ("Did you take your iron!?!?!" "Did you eat enough today!?!?!") not to mention treating my like I'll brake when we do get intimate again.

I've tried looking around the internet and the only thing I or people I'm close to have been able to find is possibly anemia, though I have never tested positive for it. I did have a nurse tell me that my blood pressure was lower than normal. Both could explain the spells but not the severity of the attacks. I've tried taking women's multivitamins with extra iron encase it's anemia, but I'll still have the episodes just the same. I've also tried exercising more but regardless of how much I do the most I get is a little dizzy, never anywhere close to my "B" spells, and it doesn't lessen the amount of episodes or the severity when I do have one. I have been checked out twice for this. Once when I was 18 right after I had a type "A" attack in a Chick-fil-a, an ambulance was called and I went to a clink right afterwords but I showed no signs of anemia or even dehydration only twenty minutes later. They wrote it off as a freak occurrence and said it would probably never happen again, after I told them I had the same thing happen a month prior they just said the same thing, never again.... most likely. The other time I had some light blood work done, which turned up zilch but the low blood pressure thing.

Now that I have insurance again I need to go get a checkup and visit an OB/GYN if nothing else (haven't had a real exam since I was 18 and never been to a "lady parts" doctor). Just wanted to know if this, or something similar happens to anyone else. :?
P.S. sorry for the wall of text.
