Have to go with bows, then maybe crossbow. Not a fan of the guns, heck I think my main still has his gun skill at 1/400 hehe.

xbows > guns > bows. I just love the xbow animations on my draenei. That being said, I love guns on my tauren (and also on my drae)... but neither prefer bows.

I also play muted (I know I know, I miss out on a large aspect on the game when having the sound off, but my 2-year-old sleeping and my hubby playing across from me mean that it'd be a cacophony of noise... especially with my son's crying as he wakes!) so idc about the noise. :)

Bows, in my mind are a classic hunter weapon. Something regal about them in my mind. Crossbows run second. I will use guns if it is the best weapon available tho. When I hunt in RL, Bow>crossbow>gun.

I think it depends on who I'm playing. For my main; Night Elf hunter, I use a Bow. The time I needed to use a gun because it was a major upgrade, I couldn't stand it. The noise, the feel... it just seemed wrong for my elf to be using a gun. However, my tiny dwarf hunter that I gave up on months ago, used a gun and I couldn't see him with anything else. I know nothing of end-game weapons (I'm only level 77, and I don't do dungeons yet or anything)... but, then I'm also one who insists on dual wielding daggers for my hunter, even when there are potentially even better staves out there for me to use.

Telsek wrote:I used to use crossbows almost exclusively because they hit so much harder than bows. Back then (pre-Kara) guns weren't as prevalent as they became later on. I thought I'd never like using a gun, but once I equipped the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28581, I was hooked.

On winning that gun, I installed a mod called "Silencer Now", which permanently altered the "bang bang" to a non-jarring pew-pew noise. I've never had to re-install the mod, btw.
I never had the nifty gun, but Telsek has said it all for me. I'm forced to use a Nessingwary at the mo', and I wouldn't be without the silencer mod. I so miss having a crossbow.

I'd much rather have a good bow as opposed to a gun, guns are loud and annoying with sucky animations in every race except for Draenei males.. While bows are just plain awesome in every way possible... For a good period of time I absoloutely refused to use anything other than bows..that was until true-aim dropped for me in 5-man TOC and well...I couldnt pass it up.

Oh how I miss using a gun. :<

When I replaced mine with a crossbow, it was a very straaange transition.. it's very quiet. Guns help me time my shots, I think, and I kind of like the loud noise :P I'm sure my party members are happy without the noise, but eh.

I leveled with the BoA bow, so I'd say that those are my second fave. Crossbows just feel kind of tiny to me.

I hate the bow sounds, but their animations are ok, I guess. Crossbows are wannabe guns, so no thanks.
The sound of guns tells me that something is happening. I press a button and I hear a bang. There's interaction, feedback. With arrows, it's too quiet. My actions get drowned out in the raid and all i have is numbers scrolling up my screen to tell me I'm doing something.

Also, this being a fantasy setting, a good gun is hard to come by. So all the more special when you get your hands on one. That said, there are some beautful bows out there, and the visual aesthetics make up for the lack of interaction.

Guns are toys, bows are art.

DISCLAIMER: Guns are not toys, they are very dangerous weapons. You should never play with a gun.

Crossbows lack both traits. They are ugly and silent. The fact that Arthas drops crossbows is the penultimate sign that he is evil. After, you know, all that killing.

I definitely agree about the gunshots letting you feel like you're doing damage. The sound is strangely comforting and I've come to prefer it to the near silence of a bow.

I also find that I've become so accustomed to when the sounds go off that I can time my shots easier as well.

Guns > Xbows > Bows. I find Bows to be kinda cliche on elves.

Arclite would prefer Guns and Xbows, but she might use a bow if it'll be more effective than her gun.

Forever in my heart bow be will...okay me not talk Yoda.

Thought on the Siliner he went through most of his levels with a gun....it kinda grew onto me. I kinda miss the "BANG". On the other hand with a bow I feel all stealthy and silent and the cross bow makes me feel like a law officer from old times.
In the end it's the best gear for me.
