Taming Terrorpene

hey im gunna try my luck at taming this awesome pet. If anybody has any info on spawn time or stuff like that i will be grateful thank you

Ah yes, the infamous Terrorpene.

1. Get fire resistant gear. Trust me on this one. His Burning Hatred his 10k a tick and its ranged.
2. He's immune to traps. Dont bother with him
3. Bring a corehound if you can(trash or your own pet)
4. Get Prismatic Elixir. Magic resistance definitely helps.
5. Bring a Potion of Speed and some haste food like Baked Manta Ray.

He's a tough bugger....his spawn time is generally 6 - 12 hrs.

My friend is trying to tame him at 82 and won't listen to a thing I say about it. He's gonna get barbequed and then I'm gonnna have to listen yto him complain. /Facepalm

I tamed him at 82.....

Had a prismatic elixir (90 fire resist), haste pot, Ancient Hysteria from a trash corehound (which I almost forgot to release before the tame, go me), and deterrence, he hardly did any damage. Tame took about 5 seconds too.

Just so you're prepared, I camped him for almost 12 hours before he spawned, he killed me and another hunter got him. Spawned again after 9 hours almost to the minute, and that time I got him. So be ready for a loooong camp.

Deterrence worked perfectly for Ziarre, but didn't work at all for Tufani...so yeah.

My hub tamed him at 81 in T10 ICC gear LOL

He had a disc bubble, a load of holy hots, stam pots, corehound, speed flask and stam/dodge food... I think that was all I had him loaded up with...

and he still died like 4 or 5 times before he got off the tame! That turtle really wanted him. It was a casual fly by find and he had to run off for the corehound and I ran back to get the flask and food for him from the bank. Took us darn near 20 minutes to get the tame completed for him what with all the dying and running around like idiots. We almost called in a pally for more bubble action. It was a hoot!

When I tamed him, I tried at 81... cost 150g or so in repairs for a fail, 82 for a cheaper 100 and not so red gear when I watched him tamed by someone else and at 83 finally successfully got him. Used the corehound, stam and haste flask and dodge/stam food for the second two tames. Third time I went after him I had about 70k health or better I think? Only took the one attempt and the bugger finally didn't cost me anything LOL

Tamed him only yesterday on my level 81 Goblin. Had my husband's level 77 Shammy helping me out, since in my panic I forgot the corehound. He's a healer, so had the glyph for fire resistance on his totem, and naturally Bloodlust. I also put on my nature resistance aspect (I doubt it helped at all though) and he threw and earth shield on me. After Arcane shotting the turtle a few times, I had established enough aggro, and the tame went off without a hitch. In fact, I even forgot to pop Deterrence, and managed to nab him (now her) with about 10K hitpoints left, after one Healing Surge (at the very end of the tame) and Riptide totem up, plus the Earth Shield, of course.

So it's doable at 81 definitely, but I warmly recommend bringing a healing Shammy with you if possible!

Sorry for resurrecting this older thread.... but I finally tamed Terrorpene at 7:08server time on Icecrown. I came home from work last night and my NPCScan started blaring when I logged in. I got super excited but then deflated when I saw that a Horde Blood Elf Hunter had just tamed him ( I spoke with her through an alt). It was probably about 1:15am server time so I decided to sleep and check back at 7:00am (6:00am PST) server time.

So I logged in at 6am pst/7am server and flew the spawn area once and then settled down and fished a Volatile Fire pool. When I finished the pool I flew again and /NPCScan started blaring. He spawned at loc. 54, 76 (6 hour respawn), right near the N on your map (SULFURON). I landed quickly and switched out my fishing gear, then I ate a Basilisk Liverdog for the extra stam and haste.

I pulled Terrorpene with a concussive shot, hit my Drums of Forgotten Kings, drank Prismatic Elixir (both hot keyed), hit my Ancient Hysteria Macro:
/cast Ancient Hysteria
/cast Bestial Wrath
/cast Dismiss Pet

and then hit my tame macro:
/tar Terrorpene
/use Potion of Speed
/use 13 (haste trink)
/cast Deterrence
/cast Tame Beast

At level 83 my base stats with various Stamina, FR, and reforged to Haste gear were:
HP = 54915
Spell Haste = 10.86%
Fire Resist = 119

I have over 30k HP left when the tame completed. One thing to watch for though, it didn't look I was actually casting tame beast, I couldn't see the little hearts, it cast so fast, I couldn't even tell it was working. I camped off and on for almost 3 weeks always just missing him until last night/today. I fished over 1000 volatile fires, which go for about 10gp per on the Icecrown auction house, so the camp wasn't a complete aggravating waste of time!!!

I take it from your sig that you're 85? In that case, just land and tame. I got him this morning (kid had me up at 6 and after that pleasant surprise I didn't mind so much! ) and that's basically what I did... He took less than 1/4 my hp.

Well, since it's been a while... did you get him already?
