Mmm, yeah. I could see how it's a little too far forward. Perhaps it being pushed back and the lip readjusted around it might help it face the right direction.

I think it's the teeth. Like I said, if you tried to properly close the worg's mouth and fit the teeth, the "tusk" closest to the viewer would stab the dog's mouth. So either it's jutting out diagonally, or the worg holds his jaw weird.

...Am I just repeating what everyone is saying? I'm tired. XD

I can't tell if it IS just the teeth or if I've screwed it up. Maybe both. I'm going with both.

Tell me, does this look better and/or more correct, or no? This being a sloppy example, resized for ...exampleness.

The bottom right part of the bottom jaw seems a little...off, to me. Almost like the jaw goes into a point in between the fangs, or has too many teeth, or something.

I'm going to disagree with the majority here and say that the lower jaw, although a little wonky, isn't too bad. Instead, you'll find that it's actually the upper jaw that's the problem, specifically the nose. It's angled to be perfectly horizontal to the viewer, instead you'll want to angle it so that there's a little more of the top facing the viewer, angling it downwards.
Do you mind if I do a little redlining for you? Just to help with the perspective/anatomy. :3

Your texturing and shading are amazing by the way. You must have the patience of a god. XD

I did say my artistic knowledge is limited. :P But now that you mention it Moon, I do see what you're saying about the top jaw.

Ooh, it came out well! I can't decide which I like better :D (okay I lied, I think I like the furrier one better, but it's a close one!)

I see what you mean about the jaw, though. I think his upper lip is curled up a little too much as well (so you end up seeing more gum than you normally would), I think.

Urgh, this has been distracting me all day, and I really wanted to help out. Please forgive me for posting this without permission. Feel free to tell me off for being a meddling bitch.
Again, I love the texture work you've done here and I think your picture is brilliant. This is just to help you in the future with your anatomy work.

Thanks for the suggestions & comments guys :)

I may work on moving the lower teeth/front of jaw shape, and the placement of the far saber tooth. I may lose a bit of gum/inner lip and replace it with outer lip (drop the snarl) but probably not TOO much. If I do change things, it will hopefully allow for a pretty cool picture/initial impact without the whole "eww wtf is wrong with his jaw" detracting from it

However, the anatomy changes are a no-go for me--it's just meant to be a semi-realistic version of the WoW worg itself, not true to life, so the snarl + passive face (and the ludicrous amount of gum/inner lip that they show) I'm going to leave just for, let's call it, artistic reasons  I really like the way his face currently looks--the shape of the WoW worg faces is just completely endearing to me, as is the expression. Yeah, they have a permanent snarl, so I kept it--I chose to change the legs/paws, though, because I assume they're just so terribly designed because of old software limitations/stylization. But I somehow like the snarl + calm face; I think they mean it to look vicious, but to me he seems to be staring off into the distance, like he's thinking or watching something.

As odd as the perspective seems, it WAS drawn directly off of modelviewer/screenshots. I'll see if I can find it, but the point is that I don't want to change it too much for "realistic" reasons because then I may as well go draw a real dire wolf :P

Moonlost, I totally don't mind & do appreciate the redline/notes, don't get me wrong :) It's just not exactly what I'm going for!

Edit--here was my reference! Someone had a BRILLIANT archaeology outfit on another thread (I can't remember where, but on Petopia) and I was trying to make my own. Took a screenshot to compare to other gear; apparently the brown vest isn't available anymore :( But if you rotate/enlarge the worg, this was the odd angle he was at:

Image

So whatever angle-issues there are, as far as funky nose angle/jaw hanging, it's off the model itself, I think : / I'm hesitant to change it too much lest I make it look worse >.<

At the risk of derailment, I know there's a brown version of the one you've got one (that should be still available, it was a random enchant item), but I can't remember the name but it was late 40s, early 50s cloth iirc. Hopefully it'll come to me in my sleep, and if not I'll go look at random enchant cloth on wowhead and see if I can find it manually :x

Edit: I might have been thinking of Gossamer Tunic of the Sporebat because I'm tired (totally not the right top, though I do quite like the look of the Gossamer Tunic too, heh). Brains are tasty :x
