Do you like to look for rares?

Unread post by Tilo »

Well since my last major post, on all three of my 85s I've managed to tame all the cataclysm rares at one point or another; however since then on a whim I find myself just wanting to see if they're up, course lately they haven't been, but I know if they were I'd obviously offer to a hunter interested.

So on that note, anyone else just like to occasionally look if any rares are up, even though they already have them?

Yep. I do it all the time if I'm passing through the zone and it's not out of my way. ^_^ Habit I suppose.

Same when I flying through and or some times even close to an area that I know has a rare I'll check to see if it's up. Even though, all 25 of my pets are rares and a hunter I made just so I could tame even more rares, I still like to check. I like to rember the day I tamed them and how lucky I was most of the time that I was there just at that right moment to tame them. Also like to see if they'er are any other hunters who might be going through the same long wait, when your just sitting around for hours it's nice to have some company, it can make the time go by faster. Then again if a rares up and no ones around you might be that one hunter that one hunter that a lot of other hunters have mentioned, which helped them to finally tame thier pet.

Yeah. I get a kick out of finding rares (even the more common ones lol), so unless I'm really going somewhere direct I'll do a sweep of the area. I used to try and rehome any that I found but I've been put off a bit by douches killing a mob out from under you... but I'd never kill them myself and do my best to try find a hunter in the zone who would like it < 3

In the end that's why I rolled another hunter... I enjoy finding rares so much :D Haha I've already tamed the Northrend spirit beasts on my baby hunter (again)... moar!

Yup! I just like to rehome them and NPCscan going off gives me happy times. I also managed to rehome Skoll last night at the cave spawn spot and took screenies to confirm it.

It's kinda funny how things worked out for me. Initially I installed NPCscan for Arcturis (my first rare/spirit beast) and when I heard it go off, it was like a surprise party where everyone goes "SURPRISE!!" it made me feel hella excited and my heart raced, no joke. I've grown accustomed to hearing it go off when I finally find "that rare pet I've wanted for SO long". So when I add an ID or scan for a pre-existing ID and find my target/rare...I get super happy.

Yup. I've rehomed several Karomas and a Sambas along with two Madexx. I love rehoming, and finding a rare is thrilling whether I'll tame it or not.

I'm currently not playing WoW, but yes. I love the thrill of finding a rare up, especially a tamable one. I've made more than a few rehomes, especially within the Petopian guild. :)

If im in the same zone i absolutely have to take the time to look at the spawn point even if im camping something else instead, drives me nuts to wonder if its there or not and then find out it was and got killed (i always try to tag and hide it till i either find another hunter (ally or horde, doesnt matter to me) or someone finds where we're hiding and kills it)

I do it with loads of old world rares; Snarler and Rak'Shiri especially. But if I know a rare I've had or have at the moment spawns in the area, I deliberately look for it. My boyfriend's gotten into the habit too! He found Barnabus the other day and went 'look! Barnabus!' xD

Look for them? Naah, not really. Occasionally my friend and I will go rare-hunting and bring home a blue or two, and I tend to kill old world rares depending on how often I see them(habit, I suppose). I like the thrill I get when I stumble across something, even if I don't want it or plan on killing it. I do try to find them homes, but I tend to be a little impatient. Woe unto the poor sap who spawns under me and can't find an owner within thirty minutes or so.

I don't really have any moral qualms with killing rares(although I fussed at my friend because she killed King Mosh - I have never seen him until then.). I think the only rare I let go willingly was Olm - I just notified the hunters in the area and left.

Totally. I do this, even though I'm not exactly a rare collector myself, nor am I BM. I just love to re-home animals and even after a couple month-long hiatus the first thing I did? Go to Badlands to look for rares... Saw Barnabus, but left him alone, and tripped over a Zaricotl (which I ended up taming myself).

But overall... I love the hunt.

I only try to tame rares who have a unique (or near-unique) skin that I like, the exception would be Blue!Madexx, that was an impulsive tame :x
As for looking for rares if I already have them, yeah, I do. I usually have the luck of finding really often rares I have already tamed (When I spent weeks camping for them in some cases), this is specially true for Loque'nahak, Terrorpene, Sambas, King Krush and Gondria.

I always keep an eye open for rares -- if I can't tame them myself, I usually "give" them to my guildies - either my boyfriend's troll hunter, or his sister's blood elf. Patrika (my sister-in-law) gained a Maddex and a King Krush this way.

I've also made it a rule in <Idealistic History> to not kill unique-skinned tamable rares, a rule my guildies usually have no qualms about following. Even if we don't want a rare, there's always someone out there who will, so it's better to just not be a jerk.
