Victorin--Forsaken, Now and Forever

Unread post by TygerDarkstorm »

((Yes, I am crazy and psychotic and making another one of these.))

Sylvia,

Awake. I am awake at last. It feels like an eternity that I have slept. But something seems strange...off.
Image

Looking around myself, I see a strange, winged woman in front of me. She explains to me that I have been awakened from the dead, given a second chance at life.
Image

Before explaining more, she handed me this journal and pointed to my side where a black and red spider chittered contentedly.
Image

Suddenly, sitting there, the memories came flooding back. Well, some of them at least. Especially the ones of her; my beloved Sylvia. I also remembered that in life, I was a former marksman. Looking back to the spider, I decided to name her Sylvia. She liked such creatures.

After giving me some time to reflect, the val'kyr, as she called herself, told me that I was free to do as I pleased, and that if I wished to serve the Dark Lady, I needed to speak with Mordo. Curious as to whom this Dark Lady is, I chose to go speak with Mordo.
Image

The Undertaker seemed pleased with me. He said that my body has held up really well despite being dead for so long. I didn't get a chance to ask what he meant, however, as he asked me to go retrieve some embalming fluid and twine to stitch up the bodies that weren't as fortunate. Mordo paired me up with some tall chap named Darnell to go with me.
Image

Darnell led the way to the Shadow Grave. While he searched the right side, I found what we needed on the left.
Image

As I carried the items back to Undertaker Mordo, I began to wonder how many other undead were stitched up from someone else's dead body parts. I shuddered slightly, glad to know that my body parts were my own. Mordo praised me when I returned and next told me about how people handle undeath differently. Some of us maintain our free will, but are stuck in a world of fear and confusion while others have no mind whatsoever and turn into the truest form of zombie. He needed me to kill some of these zombies.

Also in need of my help was a gentleman by the name of Caretaker Cairce. He mentioned how being raised from the dead is strenuous and that not all handle it as well as I did. If they call just blithely going along with everything handling, I suppose that's fine. I haven't really been given much time to cope and think about it. Anyway, he said that there were three undead around here having some trouble coping and he wanted me to lend them an open ear to talk to.
Image

I opted to kill some of the mindless ones as I walked over to the first person, Sylvia in tow.
Image

The first of the other undead I spoke with was Valdred Moray. He seemed confused, like he didn't understand that he was dead. Once I explained everything to him, he calmed down some and chose to go report to Mordo to serve the Dark Lady.
Image

The next person I went to speak with was a woman by the name of Lillian Voss. She was cowering in front of a tree, but when I tried to talk to her, she treated me like some sort of abomination and refused to believe that she was now undead.
Image

Mulling in my mind, I went to speak with a man by the name of Marshal Redpath. He didn't mind so much that he was Forsaken. He was more upset that we wanted him to join us. I told him he was free to do as he wished and he babbled some nonsense about starting his own Forsaken with elbows.
Image

I returned to both Mordo and Cairce, brooding about what I had seen and heard. I experienced some of the different archetypes of undeath. Well...if I had to be alive again, I'd rather be the way I am then like Lillian I guess. Urgh. I need some time to think.

((To quote myself: "Looking back to the spider, I decided to name her Sylvia. She liked such creatures." :P She's just not named in the screenshots because I took them before actually dubbing her Sylvia.))

((Yeah, I couldn't decide if that's what I actually wanted to name the spider or not, and then decided it was.
Also, in case it isn't apparent, or whatever, Victor's writing his journal as if he's writing to Sylvia, his (former) wife because it's not manly enough (I guess) to call it Diary or Journal.))

Sylvia,

After spending some time thinking, I've decided to live with--heh--my new 'condition.' I am Forsaken, now and forever. I may not remember everything, but I'm content with that. My memories of her are good enough; I will forge new memories in my new un-life.

My mind set, I reported to Deathguard Saltain, Darnell and Sylvia in tow.
Image

I also went inside the chapel looking building and met with Shadow Priest Sarvis.
Image

I set off to complete the tasks given to me by the Deathguard and Priest. Kill leftover remnants of the Scourge and gather the bodies of the fallen Scarlet Crusaders. Darnell carried the bodies while I did all the business work.
Image
Image
Image

Upon returning to them, they seemed pleased enough. Sarvis sent to me go speak with Xavier, the resident hunter trainer. At first I felt offended, but then I realized that my skills weren't quite what they used to be and was grateful.
Image

Xavier had me practice a technique he called steady shot. He said that I would learn far better in the field than him just rambling at me. Works for me.
Image

Before moving on to the next task, I'm opting to take a small rest. Not that this body needs it I suppose, but my mind and soul feel like they do.

Sylvia,

They wanted me to check on that Lillian Voss gal again. They're worried about her in case she becomes one of the mindless ones or something. I reported to Novice Elreth for my task.
Image

I went into the building across the way and headed upstairs where I found Lillian cowering in a corner. I frowned to myself, not understanding her strange behavior. I mean, I understand not necessarily wanting to be undead, but to be so skittish, and in denial, calling everyone around you a monster when they're trying to help...that I do not understand.
Image

Anyway, I showed her the mirror like Elreth asked me to, getting her to see her reflection and what she is...She is still in denial. She ran away again.
Image

Bearing that in my mind, I returned to Elreth. She didn't seem too upset about Lillian, grateful that the skittish Forsaken at least still had her free will. To get me to take my mind off the matter, she sent me to Executor Arren for some more combat training.
Image

Arren gave me a single look over and made a "tsk" noise. Declaring my gear was piss poor, he assigned me to go kill some of the local bats and wolves to fashion a belt with. Sylvia and I took care of these creatures easily.
Image
Image

Upon returning, Arren fashioned me a quick belt, of which I was grateful for; the cloth one I had worn previously was becoming tattered. He then mentioned that gold was scarce in the lands of Lordaeron and that the one gold mine the Forsaken do have control of in this area is overrun with spiders. I was tasked with killing off a few of these spiders so that the workers might get back in there. Another paltry task, and Sylvia seemed to have no issues killing others of her kind and feeding on them.
Image

After taking care of the spider problem, Arren sent us to go meet up with Darnell where a battle of sorts was getting ready to happen.
Image

Apparently that Marshal Redpath fellow had gathered a few of the other undead (who had been dubbed Rotbrains) and gotten them to obey his command and challenge the Forsaken. It was my duty to kill off some of the Rotbrains as well as Marshal Redpath. Those who challenge the Forsaken will be shown no mercy--I gave him no quarter.
Image
Image

After I returned to Shadow priest Sarvis with the good news, Darnell appeared with some new gear and informed me they're making him into a Deathguard--good for him!
Image

Not wanting to keep me in Deathknell any longer, Sarvis had me go report to Deathguard Simmer out in the field.
Image

I also received tasks from Apothecary Johaan and Sedrick Calston.
Image
Image

I will complete their tasks on the morrow. For now, I feel like resting here; my encounter with Lillian Voss still disturbs me. Perhaps it is because she reminds me of you, my beloved? Sometimes I wish I had been brought back with no memories at all.

I do not mean that, I apologize beloved one.
