@ people who find a lot of mysterious camel figurines

Unread post by Vetiver »

How do you do it?!

In all my searching I have only ever found one (on my alt arghhh) but of course it was dust.

Does anyone anywhere know any detailed info on these? For instance: I've heard rumors that there can only be one up at a time? Or another source that said they have 4 hour respawn times? I also would love to know if there are any places where they just DON'T spawn, so I don't waste time flying over the wrong places!

If any of you tend to find a lot of these when you go hunting, could you share your secrets? :D

ps - yes I am using NPCscan <3

I use the addon Routes to make dots on my map and link them in the most efficient way. originally it's used to make quick farming routes, but I use it for a lot nowadays, including making quick routes to check spawn points of rares, and here to find the camel figurine. Here's my Uldum map, the light yellow line I think is a route for farming ore.

I hope it helps :-)

Nice map!

I just... put only the real figurine (aka the mount-giving one) into my NPC Scan, so when I finally found it I knew it was "the one"... saved a lot of false hope and bother :D

I would still put both up. One only spawns at a time, so if you fly over and don't discover the wrong one, you never have an idea of time, it's like removing Vyragosa from Npcscan for finding Time-Lost. I know it sucks to see a figurine crumble to dust, but at least you found one and can do something else for 6 hours :-)

... Saying that I just removed Blood Seeker and Xariona from Npcscan to find Aeonaxx. I did nearly get a heart attack from Npcscan going off for a bat the other day. Ah well, I guess if you don't permanently fly over the destert it doesn't really matter, you'll get lucky eventually!

Is it a 6 hourish spawn time? I thought one would spawn each hour for some reason.

No, as far as people know it acts exactly like a rare with a typical 6-24hr respawn. And there's only one up in the whole zone at one time :-s

grr. i'll never get one. especially after 4.1 when people will be searching for them more to get that Title.

I've found 2 myself (both dust). I like Uldum though generally, its a pretty place to flyover

wow that is a great map! *makes mental note to pick up routes*

did you have to use any special settings to get it how you like it or does it just default to that?

I actually had to redo the purple lines in photoshop as the one on my map was light and white, and put the dots down for clarification. But in the Routes addon settings, you can make the line as thin, thick, colourful and transparents as you like. It doesn't put a dot in, just a little gap between strokes.

That map is the exact same route I use :) I've found ten figurines so far, all dust. It makes me sad every time the NPC Scan picture changes to sand :( But yeah, I make that route several times a day--I did it for a few hours at a stretch several times--since shortly after the Shattering, and have found 10 statues, if you want to do the math : /

I think it counts as a "rare spawn," so only 1 up at once and with a longish respawn timer.

I keep both statues' IDs on my NPC Scan, therefore, so I know when it's on "cooldown," spawn-wise.

And about them being harder to find post-4.1 due to title-seekers: they will also NOT be TARGETTABLE anymore, so you can't mark them with NPC Scan's raid-marking automatically, nor click them to get an idea of where they are. You'll just have a pretty vague area in which to search "by hand" before someone else gets there first : / And it also means that ONLY NPC Scan & Silver Dragon users will be able to find them without searching every spawn point manually.

woo finally found a second figurine! within the first 2 minutes of starting my rounds!

of course it was dust. it's always dust. =.=

a guildie of mine actually got the mount a few days ago ON HIS FIRST FIGURINE, and says he WILL NEVER USE IT. he *will* use the title when it comes out. i swear he may be the only person on the server with the mount so far, and he all he can say is "it doesn't look any different, i'm not using it"...i have to resist the urge to smack him through the internet every day lol.

*laughs* There :-) I don't think it's that secret and quite easy to fix, I'm quite sure it will be fixed in the coming patch :-(

Your map was extremely helpful. Have the route now in memory and found my first figurine. (It was dust of course)

I was so disappointed when I got mine, cause I thought it was a 2-seater... but it wasn't. :( So now it's just a boring old camel. ... Still a pretty colour though. I'm looking forward to the title ^^

I found my third one tonight, it's been three in about a week now I think, which makes me feel like I might be on the right track even though they've all been at widely different times. Is there a rule about it such as there's always only one up in the zone at a time? Just wondering if that means when I find one, that I can take a break for a little while, etc.
