So I'm here to create a pretend situation. What mounts would you keep if blizzard suddenly released a 1-ground 1-flyer mount rule? We all know this would never happen but work with me here.
If you had to get rid of all of your mounts except one for ground riding and one for flying, what two would you pick (and why)?
I would keep my Swift Timber Wolf (-> http://www.warcraftmounts.com/mounts/sw ... erwolf.php) because I love the smooth run animation wolf mounts have, love the coloration of the timber, and it was the first epic wolf mount I earned the rep for horde side. My flyer would be the Turbo-Charged Flying Machine (-> http://www.warcraftmounts.com/mounts/tu ... achine.php) I crafted the first chance I got after it came out durring BC. :]

I wish the red silithid tank was useable outside the instance.
It's a feat of strength and since hardly anyone runs AQ these days.. would be nice if they made it possible to ride it outside the instance now. =(

For ground mount, I'd keep my Raven Lord because I spent so much time farming him with my hubby, and it brings back good memories of us spending time together, as tedious as it was, lol.
For flying, I'd have to go with my Green Proto Drake, just because I simply love it.
Oh wait.. that would be on my druid...
For hunter-
ground: the black pvp wolf
flying: Blue Proto Drake I recently won! woot!
For my first hunter she would keep her Winterspring Frostsaber, I worked too hard at 60 to get rid of him! Plus he is in too many of her writtings, I could never give that cat up. Her Veridian Netherdrake is also staying with her, she saved him he better!
My druid would have her Dark War Talbuk and Green Proto. They are best buds.
My horde hunter, that would be my Fiery Warhorse. Her flyer would be the Headless Horseman's mount...wait does he get to count as a flyer...?

Yes, and yes! My Druid got her Winterspring mount at 60 as well, and despite being able to fly, also had to have the Veridian Netherdrake. (There was no deliberating ... it was only ever going to be green.)
Art went for the WS Frostsabre in TBC and so didn't work nearly as hard, but I would still never swap that kitty for any other. My heart still skips a beat when I see one, although given the number of them turning since the final rep change, I'll go into cardiac arrest one of these days.
They should give original owners a special tabard or something (she only half joked ...)
Druid -
Flying: Silver Covenant Hippogryph (prettiest mount in the game IMO)
Ground: White Polar Bear (even though I have the Fiery Warhorse, it's just not very druid-y to me; I was far more excited when I finally got my polar bear)
Hunter -
Flying: Well, I only have regular flying but I hope to someday get the green proto-drake. If I don't, I'll at least get the Argent Hippogryph.
Ground: I guess my Black War Bear since that was one of the funnest things I've done; but I really hope to get the raptor from ZG someday...

On my main, it'd have to be my purple proto drake for flying (a year long grind? No WAY I'd give that up!). For ground mount...hrm. I guess my red tournament hawkstrider...I dunno why but I really love that guy.
On my alli hunter, my flying would UNQUESTIONABLY be the blue drake I got at Occulus! I am SO proud of that dragon, as I had just sucked up my nerve and did my first ever 'random' heroic, had never done Occulus before, and beat it...and then was rewarded with an AWESOME MOUNT! Ground-mount, I'd have to say my black war ram, it took forever to get him but he looks so freakin' cool.

A big thanks to Vephriel for the awesome signature
Lessee here...
Hunter - I'd keep my pretty armored tan talbuk for ground, and my gorgeous Silver Covenant Hippogryph for flying.
Druid - My violet Argent Tourny raptor for the ground, and my Cobalt Netherdrake for flying.
DK - Venomhide Raptor for the ground, and.. Shoot... I'd have to go with my wildly colored Violet Netherdrake for flying. He's so crazily colored, I can't help but love him.
Lazona Ground Mount: Winterspring Frostsaber
Reason being, I was the nutcase to do the quests at 75 rep (days long before it was boosted) in 3 days straight. It was my last conquest before temporarily quitting WoW for work (which didn't last and I was told simply they couldn't keep me afterwards. Fuckwits...), and Laz's greatest achievement in a 72 hour timeframe. My sleeping habits however certainly suffered majorly XD Her name is "Oryndia", which translates loosely into "as sharp as the winters cold".
Flying Mount: Violet Proto Drake
Did this baby in one year exactly, proof positive it can be done if one works their damned butt off (and the achievement system's retroactive awards thing actually works for you!). "Winterfield" is Laz's favourite. Big, puppy-like and silly. I couldn't let this guy go. And 310% speed is a must against her favourite mountwhores like Shin and Meta - my guildies. Winterfield is affectionately known as "Business Class" in our guild LOL
Kastarakov Ground Mount: Swift Turquoise Raptor
Though he swaps to "Scalebane" for his Northrend travels, "Sonique" is his most loyal land mount. She's been through everything, from her days as a 60% speed land mount to now as a 100% one. Though her leg injury at the muzzle of an Ironhide Devilsaur rogue hampers her travelling days now, she remains as steadfastly loyal to Kas as she did as a youngling. He'd never give her up for anything.
Flying Mount: (current) Blue Drake, (wanted) Albino Drake [24/50 mounts at current]
"Prussuregos" is a placeholder drake at best, a surprise to Kas after finding her reins and summons in his loot reward bag from a trip to the Occulus (and making Laz insanely jealous of his luck!), but she's not his first choice. I want Kas to have the Albino Drake, since Laz has the Violet Proto Drake. I'm a bit of a completist there, really XD His name would most likely be "Ivoresce".
Cleyandra Ground Mount: (current) Black Hawkstrider, (wanted) Baron's Deathcharger
Cleyandra focuses on quirky mounts. Her black one, "Duckula" is a fruit-loving but seed-hating birdy. I figure when she gets to 40 and gets her epic speed land mount training, further down the line at around 60+ I'd really like her to have the Baron's Deathcharger, "Soulfyris". She just seems the type to soothe the skeletal beast it truly is.
Flying Mount: ...erm?
I haven't even gotten this far yet! But if I have to choose for her if this ever came to pass, it'd probably most likely be the Onyx Netherdrake, "Darfyris". Just something to differentiate between Kas's light (the Albino) and her darkness (Onyx), really. Pretty much would be the jist of their relationship together <3
Very hard question. All my characters prefer different mounts. Actually, if it's like that, then it's not too hard.
Vicario:
For ground, I would choose his Thunder Bluff Kodo. I'm a sucker for bulky mounts, and this Kodo's armor matches my Troll's blue skin. Kinda. Just up the mount size a bit, Blizzard. As for a flying mount, I'd choose my Red Drake if this was restricted to flying mounts I already own, or maybe a Red Proto-Drake if I could choose a mount that I didn't own.
Arclite:
She will stick with the Wolf mount I plan to get her in the future. The color itself depends, but I'd choose the burgundy skin from the Argent Tournament first. As for aerial mounts, she'd have either the epic Wind Rider (I know it's mundane, but the mundane flyers still look kinda badass) or a Red Proto-Drake.
I have macros hotkeyed so I mount up on a randomly-colored Netherdrake when in Outlands/Northrend and a randomly-colored/armored Talbuk in Azeroth. It's awesome.
