New Random Mount Stuff in 4.1

So 4.1 added a lot of neat things, and I don't mean just mounts. I know I had a thread trying to compile all the new mount stuff found in 4.1, but it got lost in the great sea of Petopia. So I decided to play with my mounts a bit and the following is what I found.

- Gryphons now have a /mountspecial! (YAY!)
- The Stone drakes extra webbing has been fixed.
- The Stone drakes also have more glow effects added.
- Storm drakes have a cool lightning effect ala Skoll's effect.
- Hole in the Sandstone drake front left paw has been fixed!


This is just the stuff I noticed so far, I'm sure there's a lot more!

Weren't Wind Riders supposed to get a vocal roar to their /mountspecial in this patch? O_o I tried it, but couldn't hear anything.

I thought so too, but I don't have a Horde to test that. I can confirm the Gryphons still do not make a sound though; they only rear up a bit and flutter their wings. Neither do Storm or Stone drakes. They're silent too.

I noticed that ud horse mounts have a sort of rocking horse bouncy animation now that I do not like.

I noticed that too. Compared with old screen shots and yeah, they're darker. Looking at older pics too, it seems like da webbing didn't have proper lighting effects on it.

Another note, wind drakes had da lighting effects on da wings fixed.

Yes, they are darker. At first I thought I was going mad, didn't notice these change on the PTR. I just remember the lightning on Winds being fixed and the hole in my Stone's hand being fixed, as well as my saddle position being more 'comfortable' on both Drakes. All of the Stone drakes have a more uniform coloring now, with the wings matching the body. I love the new look on the Vitreous, as it looks more like my dear Aeonaxx (the NPC, not the mount he drops), but my Phosphorescent- I liked his sand colored webbing. It was very striking. The Volcanic also looked nicer with the slate colored insets. Oh well. I assume it has to do with the extra webbing being removed from the edges.

They fixed the issue on most Drakes where the skin was applied oddly to the model (probably the same issue that caused the hole in the hand of Stones) that made them look like they had very obvious naughty bits. Stones are definitely more glowy, the stones used to only shine at certain angles, now they look amazing They also added a nice eye glow that was needed for that extra 'oomph', very subtle but noticeable!

I'm thrilled to see the stone drakes finally fixed (they've also got a bit different strafing animation now on the ground). Weird bug with the horses though, but at least the pink/white Talbuk is back. <3

The mount is basically just stuff we already have access to in 5 mans

like Rivendare's Deathcharger, Ravenlord, Blue Proto Drake, etc

From what I've read on Wowhead, there's several other mounts that can be in the random bag.
- White Polar Bear
- Green Protodrake
- Rivendare's Deathcharger (according to blizz)
- Raven Lord (according to blizz)
- White Hawkstrider

So going by that, yeah I'd assume that Blue Protodrake is in there as well. But what I've read is the bag isn't limited to just 5mans, it can also be rare "daily quest bag" loot mounts like the Polar Bear or Green Protodrake.

They might have finally fixed the colors, but there's something else wrong with the model stone drake.. o.O The tail stretches like bubble gum at the root, near the drake's arse when you strafe while running. >.<

Is there any definite list as to which mounts can be found in the Call to Arms bags yet? Just curious as to whether I should start powerleveling my pally or not.

Edit: Ah hell, I'm going to level my pally and druid up anyway! I'm excited about the small pets as well as the mounts! No more hoping for a cheap AT pet on the Auction house!

That makes me wonder -- do you think the AT mounts would be available in these bags as well, or not likely, since most of them are race-specific.

They have always had a voice but its like a quiet purr/growl morphed into one
