WoW mobile guild chat released, free for a limited time

A new feature has just been added to the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app: remote Guild Chat! As part of the latest update for the free Mobile Armory app for the iPhone and iPod touch, the new Guild Chat feature lets you stay in touch with your guildmates wherever you go:

- Read and contribute to your guild's in-game chat channel in real time

- Participate in one-on-one conversations with members of your guild

- View the members of your guild who are currently online

For a limited time, players can use the Guild Chat feature without a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote. During this time, we'll be rolling out the Guild Chat feature to select realms, with more realms being added in the future -- check out the list below to see if the feature is currently available on your realm. After the free preview period ends, players will need to have a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote in order to continue using the feature. We'll announce the end of the free preview period, along with the availability of the feature on Android devices, in the near future -- keep an eye on the official World of Warcraft website for further details.

Yeah I heard about this! Awesome!
But won't people be like "Waaait a second; how can you be chatting if you're not even online?" What would keep other members from spying on you? >.>
All in all, pretty neat though.

I have a few guildmates who have been champing at the bit waiting for this. I wouldn't mind being able to check in with some of 'em during a break at work, but I'm not sure it's worth 3 bucks a month to me. Of course, having an Android phone, it's not yet an option for me anyway.

This is another step towards a battle.net remote chat program. I can see it happening as the guild chat will pave the way for it. I've always said it be nice to chat with in game friends without needing to logg into the game. This would take a descent amount of stress load off the servers.

Dang. Well my main and most of my alts are in the Ruin battlegroup. Now I only have to wait for the Android version to come out. I'm not sure I'd stick with it once the free period was over, but it'd be interesting to poke about with.

Guild chat for Android is out now. My Remote Auction House ap updated itself to "Wow Remote Ap". I Logged into it and I was able to my own guild rooster. Nobody is reporting this yet however.

EDIT: When you select a guild member from the rooster it takes you to there character screen. You can also look up other characters in a search option in the application like you would in the normal armory.

Has anyone tried this yet?
Seems like it needs work. Tells me I'm not in a guild when I am. Can only log in with my low level toons and keeps locking up my phone.

This thing is amazing .................................. when it works. I have the app on an iPhone 4 and normally IF I can even log into the app itself when I attempt to get into guild chat I regularly get "Cannot connect to server" or "Server has timed out". Hopefully they get the bugs worked out before the free trial ends. I'm sure they will but you never know with Blizzard sometimes.

I get "Your character is not in this guild" sometimes when I try to logg into Guild Chat. Logging into wow in the computer corrects this, but it defeats the purpose of having guild chat on your phone.

So I have to ask am I just the unlucky one in that I STILL cannot connect to the guild chat portion??? Using iPhone 4 app. Still exact same error messages. Never works anymore *pouts*

Usually logging into the game on the same toon will correct the error.

Over the last 5 days only once (yesterday, briefly) was I able to log in to mobile chat. Logging on the game last night did not solve the problem. I love this feature and hope they get the bugs ironed out. I'll be subscribing if they do.
