I had done my "circles" as I came to call them earlier today, well, on Monday, as it's now Tuesday, but got frustrated and bored, so I went mining elsewhere for a while.

After a late dinner and a quick side trip with some guildies, I decided to go back to the Peaks. I've been at this drake hunt for a long while now. It's been weeks, off and on, an hour here, an hour there. Now I'm the stubborn type when it comes to looking for something, I don't give it up easily. I flew in circles in Sholazar for days on end for Loque, froze my toes off for Skoll, but this was wearing on me. Still, with guild-chat active and some music playing, I was out there again, somewhat zoned out, just doing the circles in zen mode.

I had come back to the Engine after another go-around, and weary from flying, I decided to run on foot around the Engine, going clockwise. It was random, I was bored and I was seldom on foot in the Peaks. A change of pace can be refreshing. I had taken out a Rhino and had finished with another rhino, when NPCscan blares an alert. I briefly see Time Lost Proto Drake in my chat log and I panic. Sputtering a little and possibly swearing once, I fumble for my mount button. I'm on foot, blast it all, on foot! Why am I on foot!? "Where?! Where?!" I shoot at my husband, who points out my target as with shaky hands, I mount up and gain height to locate the drake.

It took me three tries to get aggro enough to get him down to ground. I blew the first, got it on the second and lost it, and tried again. On my third try, he comes down with me and I send my Tempi at him. (Good Tempi! Love my warpstalker!) By now I'm muttering, "Mine, he's so mine. I got him." while my hubby keeps me from letting my mix of adrenaline and panic get the best of me. The fight was quick and when it was over the mount was mine.

I will post screenies as soon as I can, later on today in fact. Ketcha knows how to do that sort of thing. Gonna hafta short-story this too.

I haven't done any serious camping for this since there seems to be quite a few people with their eyes on it. I have, however, seen his corpse twice. I must have been just a couple minutes too late.

Anyhow, huge congrats on yours! Can't wait to see the pics!

To anyone else out there in Azeroth seeking those really rare beasties, whether they are potential pets, mounts, or tough-as-nails tames, do not give it up. Do not. The hunt may be long, it may be frustrating to decide to log, only to find the subject of your camping popped and was taken by someone else. Cause if you give up, you might end up regretting it. So just keep at it, and remember, it's not a race, you will win it.

Do take a break now and then. My mindless "circles" were often mindless and numbing. Really, how many times can a girl go clockwise in a circle before she cracks up a little bit? Apparently quite few, in my case, but some are more stubborn than others.

My luck came through for me, I pass it on now to other seekers of the rare.

You know, that's something they should add to the game.. If your mounted on one of your flying mounts, you should have the ability to shoot without being dismounted in flight.. even if it's just a tagging shot to get agro.. They have the coding.. Most have done the quests and instances where your flying and shooting.. I think it would add to the game...

I didn't even think to use the lager. It sat there, on my action bar, ready and forgotten. He lost interest in me the first two attempts at aggro, but on the third try I slowly descended to the nearest cliff while he used me like a chewy toy. Once I was down it was dismount, send pet and shoot.
