Yesterday I had a very bad taming experience.
I headed my hunter over to Hyjal to check on Terrorpene only to see, just as I flew in range, a bright flash and a newly-tamed terrorpene standing by a hunter that barely survived with almost no health left after the tame. To make it worse, he did /laugh and /spit and flew away with the pet I wanted.
I was heartbroken but inspired, assuming that since I knew of one spawn I could simply camp confidently until the next one. I usually fly over many rare spawn points when I'm looking for pets (rather than camping) but I stayed in Hyjal from the first tame at 6 o'clock in the morning until 10 o'clock at night. I had to get up for about half an hour around the 6-hour mark of camping, and after the full 16 hours spent there, I'm pretty sure he must have been tamed during that brief afk.
The next morning I decided to go back to my usual method of taming: fly over all of the rare spawns I'm looking for instead of camping them one by one.
So I looked for Maddexx, Skoll, Karoma, & Sambas... and found nothing. I figured I might as well sit myself in Twilight Highlands as long as I could stand it to up my odds of finding either Sambas or Karoma, since I was up fairly early and wanted to find one or the other to make me feel better about losing Terrorpene to a jerkface hunter.
I had been sitting in a queu for a dungeon during my flyovers and I accepted it when it popped even though I didn't want to leave my post, because I figured 'hey it will never spawn anyway, i have terrible luck'. We went in and it was a very bad group in Zul'Gurub. We wiped a couple times (with me feign death'ing and mass resurrecting everyone and giving pro tips, to no avail) and - this is unusual for me - for some reason I just got fed up and decided I didn't feel like putting in the effort to help guide these people through the instance. So I said goodbye & left the party.
...to find Sambas screaming right below me via NPCScan. I plopped down, dismissed my aqua kitty, frost trapped & tamed with no problems at all. I shudder to think how bad a day I would have had if I had continued to put up with the bad people in that dungeon & spent the rest of the day camping for rares someone else got while I was in there. It feels meant to be!

Here's to karma doing right by you in the end
Good luck all you fellow rare spawn campers <3
