woah wait what? no. no, just... no! :( i use that SO much for pve grinding and such and always use it in bgs or dules with druids/rouges. i admit that it may cause a problem from time to time in a heroic. (almost never though) I dont see why they should remove/replace this. i have /petattack slapped on to my main shots for when i need my pet to move from one target to another, and without the delay that this seems to imply. pls blizz, dont do it. >.<

I don't think they should remove any of the pet stances; Defensive is handy in that your pet won't be dependent upon you finding a new target before they do while in combat (AoE mobs anyone?), and Aggressive for finding stealthed enemies in PvP.

I would be a happy camper if they just put in Assist and kept in Aggressive. :| Granted I don't use aggressive much, as I don't PVP, but clearly there are a lot of people who DO love it. Assist Stance sounds like something that I will LOVE because I already macro /petattack into a lot of my macros, and this would do that for me. Especially if you consider that now your pet will run with you while you're mounted - this will prevent them from chasing mobs that aggro you, without them having to be on passive.

Oh noes. D: I don't use aggressive a hell of a lot but it's a godsend when I'm arching in annoying low-level areas!

The new "assist" sounds completely useless to me. I'd rather just keep on defensive. If I want my pet to move to my target I'll click the "attack" icon. And learning to control your pet is just part of being a hunter. There really is no reason why a pet should be on "aggressive" in raid PVE, therefore there is really no reason for wipes to be caused by it :x

What? Okay, I don't use Aggressive much, but why are they replacing this with what seems to be a smart Defensive? I agree with you, Rethen, on just updating Defensive to do what Assist does. Losing Aggressive just seems unneeded, IMO.

As I pvp alot.. I am not happy, my pet on agressive has helped save me and alot of players, unfortunately my reflex actions are not that good especially late at night before bed  so it really comes in handy, seeing me trying to click on one guy is pretty hilarious so my pet on aggressive helps me as I just click on his portrait and attack what he is :) makes life easier and rogues and druids do NOT need this extra help, they can already go all out when we are in camo so why the heck take away the one thing alot of people use. Also doing archeology ok yah sometimes Ill be digging and put my pet on aggressive so that she can have fun.. its amusing to me to watch her chase after things

leave aggressive, upgrade defensive.. it kinda needs it

Weird... why not just leave aggressive in but just in the spellbook, and have passive/defensive/assist on by default...? People who know what aggressive does and want it could get it, but newbie hunters wouldn't use it accidentally.... meh.

Thinking about this some more, there's on more reason.

Blizz has stated in the past that they do NOT like pets being able to attack without being under control. So they are finally taking it away.

In a selfless point of view I'd rather have this change stacked onto Defensive instead of removing Aggressive for everyone who wants Aggressive to stay.

In a selfish point of view, WOOOOOOOOOO! No more of me being an idiot keeping on aggressive in pvp by habit entirely losing track of my pet and being unable to gtfo of combat and running away from certain death. It'll also make Wrath and under dungeons that much better since those dungeons are pretty much my home on my numerous alts.

If they are doing this to hunter pets, does this mean it will be affecting warlock, mage, shaman (spirit wolves, if they have a bar-- ive never been an enhance sham to know), and druids (treants)? Its only fair. I dont pvp but in the past i was huge on using my tracking, traps, and an aggressive pet to serve as defence but otherwise, i just use it when im camping a mob cause it will tag it for me (i only do it for rarespawns that i plan on taming or killing for the mount, the pet after all is an extention of the hunter and it helps so that i dont need to babysit the computer to get the tag on the creature before an aggressive camper thats trying to kick me out tags it)

It is a wierd change, mean I use it for swarm events since they clock before I do most of the time. All this and I doubt pet attacking is fully working anyway... I've had no end of problems recently of pets ignoring attack commands and randomly ignoring/responding to mobs that hit me or them while on defensive. If they were at least consistant it'd help but augh.

I'd not be surprised if this is part of the "We don't want anyone to fail and we must babysit to stop stupid people learning" mantra that popped up recently.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

This is just plain stupid... agreed, i use alot more defensive then aggresive yet *as others have pointed out* this means a huge loss at grinding and pvping. and did i ever had a wipe because an aggresive pet? no. i'd be ok with it if blizz showed us some good reasons but i can't see which ones.

See, this makes sense, BUT- they also, awhile ago, removed the ability for us to loot a mob our pet has killed unless we actually do damage to it. So if they are worried about 'pet botting', we just can't really do it anymore. Also, when our pets try chasing a mob/player for too far, and we aren't with them, they despawn. I don't see why they would remove our 'middle' attack- attack everything near the hunter, attack what the hunter is attacking/attacks the hunter, and attack nothing. Now it's- attack the same target the hunter attacks, but take your sweet time doing it, etc etc. I also foresee many aggro pulls if you attack a mob and your pet takes a few seconds to hop over to it. There has to be a different way for them to work this 'assist' crap... maybe make a glyph to make assist back to aggressive? I dunno, it's becoming more of a bad idea the more posts I read and the more I think about it. Pets should have a 'guard dog' mode- I mean, they are hunter pets that battle with us- our companions. Why wouldn't there be an option to have your 200 lb lion charge anything attackable that nears you?
