I certainly don't hate rares, nor rare hunters, but I will never personally understand taming a pet for the sole purpose of showing off. It strikes me as a fleeting and rather empty satisfaction compared to having a companion at your side that you enjoy yourself, and I could never give up stable space for that. It's MY stable slot, darn it, not the populace at large's.

I just like badass looking pets and it really doesn't get more badass than a prehistoric bright blue electric wolf with teeth bigger than my face. That being said, I tamed Gondria then let her go because that whole seeing her glowing eyes through the angle of her butt thing was freaking me out.

+500 internets! Tezz's Loque is Grizraz and I want to level a third hunter purely so I can call his/her Loque Viror. e_e I did it in an attempt to bond more with Tangaloor... it worked, though it tragically worked with Grizraz more. xD

Everyone wants to have a special pet, it's just that there are many justification to claim their pets are special. There would be no hating if everyone respects one another and refrain from forcing their opinions to others.

Finding and taming rare is most popular way to acquire "special" pet for yourself because it requires more effort and its reward is greater, that being said there's absolutely nothing wrong with having rare non-rare spawn because no one else has it or your pet is special for something other than visual meaning.

For example, my friend has an alt hunter and he never tamed any rare spawns but he did get oil stained wolf. Now this wolf is special for him as it was a unusual experience and first unique pet. Now I have every single spirit beasts, rares, even ghost wolf you were allowed to tame back in Burning Crusade, I intentionally decide not to tame oil-stained wolf for personal preference, simply put I did not like him enough find a space in my stable. So? I don't lecture my friend about why the oil-stained wolf he got isn't cool enough and everyone's happy.

*gasp!* Tailchaser's Song, oh goodness that brings back fond memories. I first read that book back in Elementary School and it's been one of my favourites ever since. I think I'll have to re-read it now, it's been years. ^^

i would have to say that the "thrill of the hunt" as well as a not so uncommon addiction to npcscan's wardrums (lol) are what i love the most about hunting for rares. now that i have tamed every tameable rare in the game, i find a lot of fun and satisfaction in continuing to hunt them for friends and fellow hunters. re-homing is awesome! ^_^

I do enjoy the thrill of the hunt too, however I've never minded having non-rare but lovely looking pets. Or pets that were rare but the model isn't unique to them. For example, I adore my Nightbane but I do realise that he shares a model with the non-rare mob in Sholazar Basin. I don't mind because my pets are my pets and I can adore them all I want and for whatever reasons I wish.

And Myst (Loque'nahak) will always hold a special place in my heart because of the amount of time spent camping and flying around the basin to find him and to be blessed almost a full two days after beginning the camp.

Most of my pets are rare spawns, but I will only go after a rare if I like the look. I mean, I never got Nuramoc, who is a very popular pet amongst rare pet hunters, simply because I never liked the look and personally don't like chimaeras. And that's all. I have some pets which are hard to obtain, such as Chromaggus and Gezzarak the Huntress and I also have a few pets which aren't rare in any way at all but owned simply because I happened to love the skin/model.

There is no reason to hate on things that other people enjoy doing. If there is a rare mob that a hunter wants but that mob shares a model with a load of other non-rare mobs, who cares? The hunter clearly enjoys the thrill of the hunt and will feel personally achieved once they obtain their wanted companion.

One reason why I love my brown Madexx as much as I love the others. He may not be unique, but I earned him.

Its all on the preference of the individual hunter. I for one enjoy hunting or seeking out rares because it is thrilling and I like using them in my pet line up when I Raid/dungeon or Pvp. (thus it is a frustration when I change specs from BM to MM that I cannot use my 'exotic' pets since most of my line up is 'exotic'). But I have no particular hate or dislike for common pets.
