I've never really paid attention to my DPS, long as I got the best stuff I could I was happy.
That said, I do recall several times during Wrath where I was in ICC raids (Beastmaster all the way, baby!) and people told me they'd rarely or never seen a BM hunter pull the damage I was doing. Granted, I always used my Devilsaur, but it still gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.
And I had the morons who would get on my case about being BM, but they usually shut up after seeing the DPS meters. Hell, one time I was first in DPS for a 25-man TotC raid.

Haha!
A couple of days ago I did a Deadmines run with a guildie for my last heroic achievement (I did end up getting the drake btw
). We got into a half-completed run which had obviously failed at the construct boss, but now had a new tank, healer and dps (healer and dps being guildie and myself), with a hunter and a priest dps also. I decided to go BM because I raid/play SV 24/7 and wanted a change. As the group continued it became obvious that I was BM, which I said I was playing for fun (true enough hehe). The other hunter was like "ew how is BM fun
". I proceeded to out-DPS him on every pull hahaha. (He seemed like a perfectly nice guy, and played well, I didn't check his gear though lol so idk if he was doing good or bad for his gear level, but it was just nice to give BM a good name.)

Yep, sure was! I'm very happy just to get a successful pug these days yet alone a hunter who can give me a run for my money in dps! (I particularly like the hunters that actually give their pets names too, and I think he was one of them.)
Thanks on the drake < 3

remember, if specced for Careful Aim your training dummy dps is going to be skewed.
