I, of course, understand the appeal of a unique rare spawn. It's contested, hard to find, and once you finally DO tame it, other people know how much trouble you went through to obtain it. However, aside from certain Madexx colors and Terrorpene, there are plenty of other pets you can obtain just to be trophies (all of the spirit beasts, for example). While taming a rare that has common counterparts may detract from the whispers you receive while afking in Org, the fact still stands that you invested time into finding it, and whether or not there's a common mob with the same skin somewhere else in the World shouldn't take away from how special it is to you, personally.
I don't buy into the cry "Rabble rabble rabble I worked hard to obtain this super special awesome pet and I DEMAND that it stay super special awesome!" It's pretty blatantly selfish in a lot of ways. As I said before, there are plenty of trophy pets that will REMAIN trophy pets, so why flip out when a handful are being made available to everyone?
I worked hard for my black Madexx. Do I give a fantastic flying fuck that the skin is being used on a common mob? No, I don't.
"But pengupuff, how could this be!?"
It's my favorite color on that particular model, and the fact remains that I DID invest a lot of time into getting that particular mob. I know that, and it's enough for me. There are plenty of other ways to wave your epeen around in WoW aside from trophy pets.
