I agree the ranks should be something hunter related. Also Mania should change her own rank to den mother ;)

I'll go with the profession ranks. Only, as I recall we're all hunters and hunting is our profession, I'd scratch that "pos" thing and replace it by "hun". ;)
  • Apprentice Hunter
  • Journeyman Hunter
  • Expert Hunter
  • Artisan Hunter
  • Master Hunter
  • Grand Master Hunter
Sounds nice and OK to me...

Some special ranks may be OK, like "den mother" for Mania and some other stuff for people who are trusted with responsibities or people with outstanding devotion to the community or something like that.

I really like this idea.

And on top of that, I think we should have a rank called Hunter of the month, or Hunter of the week, as a motive for helping others and keeping active.

Seems like you've missed something. But still, very nice list.

How about ranks based on the names of 'named' top skins on petopia?

Like Rak'shiri, Mazzranache, Loque'nahak, etc.

(Not sure if mazz is on there, XD But as it was petopia's header for a while, it should at least be one of the ranks, XD)

I.E. The highest ranked named mob on the top pets list would be the highest rank.

The ranks would be set after they are added, even if another pet skyrockets above another. Therefore, it's essentially chosen by petopia users the ranks, therefore, Mania remains unbias.

(Was the top pets page taken down? I can't find it anymore ._.)

Again, the problem with ranks based on actual pets is that everyone will have a different view of what the 'best' and 'highest' rank of pet would be. It wouldn't be fair. While some people might think Loque should be the top rank, others would disagree.

I#ve been using google to find something, but with hunting, there are no real ranks.

There's beaters, hunters and the master of the hunt. Not what we're looking for, right?

And could anyone please tell me why I am a "spam hunter"? It sounds kind of disgusting, you know!
Edit: OK, now Iknow about the spam hunter. But still sounds disgusting!

I would have believed that you really are sorry if you didn't have that wicked grin on your face.
I want some other rank!
Edit: Oh... I have some other rank...

Just to throw my two cents in..:)

I agree that pet types shouldn't be used as ranks. Everyone prefers different pets; everyone would want to be something specific. I like the idea of using apprentice -- > Grand Master hunters. Arrows are cool too, unless, y'know, someone has a diehard obsession with using guns?

But I don't want Thori'dal, I want to be a [Slightly Tarnished Longbow].

Same old problem. Besides, bow are horrible, guns ftw!

As I said, it would be based on the top pets that USERS choose. There was (or is?) a list on petopia where users vote for their favorite skins.

Regardless of a mass vote, not everyone would be happy with the results. Majority does not stand for everyone, therefore something more diplomatic and friendly like a Hunter rank would go along much better. ^^

My idea doesn't seem to be so dumb after all.

Maybe we should make a poll about the direction ranks should be going?

For the moment, I've decided to go with variants of the hunter armor sets because I like the way they sound.

Newbie: 0+ posts
Giant Stalker: 5+ posts
Dragon Stalker: 50+ posts
Crypt Stalker: 100+ posts
Demon Stalker: 200+ posts
Rift Stalker: 300+ posts
Scourge Stalker: 450+ posts
Beast Stalker: 600+ posts
Beast Master: 800+ posts
Beast Lord: 1000+ posts

I dropped Gronnstalker (because who wants to stalk a gronn?!) and moved the dungeon sets after the tiered sets, because I like them better. :)

It's somewhere to start, anyway.

Not a bad idea, I have to admit. It reminds me of those Warhammer novels about Felix Jaegar and Gotrek Gurnisson. These novels were named after what enemy Gotrek & Felix had to face in the end. Trollslayer, Vampireslayer, Dragonslayer, Giantslayer... It comes to mind, doesn't it?

For those who are not familiar with the Warhammer universe: Gotrek is a dwarf. Dwarves are very proud people who give a lot about honour and stuff like that. A dwarf who did something very bad or dishonoured himself or his entire clan has only one choice. He gives away everything he owns and keeps only his favorite weapon. He dyes his hair to a shocking colour (red and orange mostly) and gets some freaky haircut like a mohawk style, get a lot of tattoos and piercings of all kind, and then goes away, looking for a glorious death in a fight against a mighty enemy. These dwarves are called "Trollslayers".

This is a trollslayer-model from the Warhammer tabletop game.

And this is a Trollslayer from Warhammer Online, so you get an idea what they look like.

But some criticism is in order, I guess...

The "Newbie" doesn't fit in and sounds... I dunno... Like you call someone a noob.
And Mania being back to Admin is also not fitting. There needs to be a special rank for Mania, right?
