OS3D and other raids

Unread post by Ketchaeatcha »

Earlier tonight there was some Drama involved with the OS3D run, I won't go into the details here but I feel that it might be beneficial to detail my position on both the OS3D and the line of old world "Hardly Heroic" raids I've been conducting.

Principal:
It's my belief that people should have access to raid content if they choose to do so, while I am unable to take anyone though the current instances (unless people wish to become much more serious about this then I think most are willing to) I feel that Blizzard put some of their best work into raids and there is no reason not to explore what they've done in the past. It's for that reason I invite people to join in these raids for whatever enjoyment or rewards they can find in them.

Petopians & Others
While current dungeons have shown a progressive trend towards downsizing many of the old dungeons were designed for mass assaults, thus even with the ability inflation that we've all experienced it can be difficult and sometimes impossible to accomplish with in house resources. Other times it will be the number of add ins who pose the problem, as an example tonight we had more then enough Petopians to accomplish a ten man, but once the 11th joined we needed at least 20 to meet the upgraded challenge.

It is for this reason that these runs will not ever be restricted to Petopian and STRIKE members only, they may get priority, but there will be numerous times when we will be asking friends or PUGs to join us. This is simply how it must be.

Loot:
Anyone who participates in these runs will have a equal shot at any and all loot that they desire (mounts, bags, etc) this is only fair and I will only modify this rule for a good reason and with the consent of everyone present.

If you desire a special item and wish to put together your own raid I would be happy to either join it or offer advice, to my knowledge there has already been one of these runs organized to get someone a mount they desired.

Ending:
In this final section let me be blunt... I am not the first person to lead these raids, there was a predecessor who started this trend and was punished for it. Some people didn't like the times, others that non-petopians were joining and (sometimes) taking the loot, perhaps a few didn't like how the raid itself was run. Under a blizzard (hey I made a funny) of criticism they stopped offering these runs and now you have me.

These runs will continue as they have been, if anyone wishes to talk to me about this I am as always more then happy to discuss it with you but I doubt that any of the procedures or rules will change. If you feel that you cannot join us given these guidelines then I wish you the best and wish you to feel welcome to come back at anytime your feelings on this matter change.

Ketch...I dont think having Strike members was the main problem last night. It was the "joke" that was the whisper that was mistakenly sent in Raid chat. A "joke" from someone most of us dont know talking about someone doesnt like the Petopians..? In a Petopian started raid? Come on.

Atleast to ME that was the main issue..

Considering how much silliness and fooling around goes on in the Petopian guild chat, I'm surprised that one harmless joke made such a fuss. :) The one who did it is a nice guy, he's just the type who always jokes around, but never in a mean-spirited way. I can't recall how many times someone like, for example, Ryno has made jokes in the exact same vein in guild chat. Those kinds of things are usually not taken seriously, so it puzzled me to hear that this one was.

I think it was mainly the, lack of lol or laughing after it by the person who did it. He just..didnt talk anymore. No Oops or anything..just silence like he hoped people wouldnt notice. That coupled with us not knowing him at all just kinda rubbed people the wrong way.

Did a little overreacting happen? More than likely so. I just think everyone was having a day :)
