Another Petopian Website?

Copying forum content is an entirely new beast to me, though - so to speak. As someone else in this thread pointed out, there's not a whole lot of point to it and it is very, very weird. It bugs me a lot because it's not someone copying a word or some images, but someone stealing your words. That's just not right. At this point it doesn't look like I'll need to take action, but I am glad that it was brought to our attention so we can handle it if we have to.

How would you have handled this if said person hadn't backed down? Might be something worth considering, seeing as 'oh, no one would bother copying this' isn't that valid an argument anymore.

I'm not sure that "no one would bother copying this" was ever a valid argument. I just meant that it had never occurred to me to think about copying forum content, whereas I've seen other website content copied ... a lot.

At any rate, this is something that is going to take some thought - and honestly, some investigation. The basics probably aren't any different than for other form of content stealing. I generally start by talking to the other party - privately - to see whether they made an honest mistake or not. (It's amazing how often that's the case, but a lot of people just don't know.) Meanwhile I am gathering information about the other party, the domain, etc., in case it's needed. Pretty basic. But I have a better grasp of the legalities for content that I have entirely written myself (or with another individual, etc) than I do for community content like this, so I will need to do some investigation to see if there are differences in the procedure after that and where they happen.

I have my theory's as well to who it is. However, I don't have enough solid evidence, to come right out and say who it is. It would also be going against the rules here.

I believe cowmuflage was "joshing" about deciding Littlemouse was the website creator.
