Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
My first rare was Loque'Nahak, I combed the forums for hours until I found a scheduled spawn time chart for each point in Sholozar. Six hours I was tired and desperate and went to the apes are and was going to turn in after taming an ape just for the sake of doing something. BOOM npcscan alarm went off.. !@#$% I dumped the ape like athletes drop Jessica Simpson, threw out a trap and stood on it, after reading how the cat had torn hunters apart. True to form, I start taming and SPRIONG, superleap, hey this cat has a boxing glove on, WHAM! Frozen, tame tame tame, lousy freaking timer, move!! Then it finally happened. I tamed loque at 0530 on a Tuesday morning a few years ago.
Since then, Gondria was pretty easy, I landed at the stairs on ZulDrak area, started to chat in guild, !@#% alarm, dammit! Nab him!! Lay trap, step on trap, tame tame, tame, got him!
Skoal was another ahrd one, i camped for hours while my friends out leveled me but I was determined. I followed all the paths and then one morning as I was making coffee I decided to log in, 0430. I was sitting down to the pc, flying through the area, cup in hand, !@#%% ALARM!!! ARRGH, land, throw trap, you are mounted error. !@#!%$ blizzard. Dismount! Lay trap, stand in trap, tame tame tame, BLAM, got him!
Ghostcrawler, pretty easy, he goes in and out of phase with the area, your alarm will happen and then when you land, hes gone. Also he is small. Fifteen seconds im like !@#$$ where did he go. Then I spotted him almost 30 feet away. Rushed after him preying no vulture hunters were around. Dropped trap, rinse repeat.
Terrorpane and Arcturis, camped in the spots, logged out in them, when I logged in both times, boom, done and done, both in 1 day apart.

My first rare I TAMED was Loque, technically, and my first rare pet I encountered was King Krush. I don't feel like re-telling the whole encounter so... linky! http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... 34&t=10958

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
My 1st pet as my dragonhawk Kamikaze. I remember seeing a night elf* with one when I was an Allie shaman and my orc(2nd) friend got one...but I have all ways really loved them. I made a blood elf, both for the closeness and I also like blood elves. I just turned lvl 11 (this was back at early tBC) and I head my seats set one a lvl 8 one. my orc(1st) friend friezed him and I just tamed.......but I like to think it was more exciting(in a RP way). after all he is my favor and 1st pet
.
Night Elf*: She was really mean to me she called my blue dragonhawk hatching a fake /sad......so i ninjad her sword, funny now I am a hunter and be for I was one I ninjad form one.

I can't remember my first tame, it was way too long ago.
My first favorite pet (I have several favorites, I can't just pick one!) was my white blue-faced gorilla Dinky...
I was leveling in Un'goro at the time and had gone into the cave where Uhk'loc resided. I didn't know Uhk'loc even existed yet and orginally gone into the cave to do a quest. But deep in the cave I found a strange white blue-faced gorilla. I was stumped as to why it was there and simply stared at it for a few minutes before I tapped my friend on the shoulder and asked him what this strange gorilla was. "Oh yeah that gorilla. That's a very rare gorilla. My friend camped that gorilla for three days and it never showed up. You should tame it if you want it." he said simply. Huh. Well I just found this gorilla by random so I should tame it. I didn't wish to abadon my current pet back then, my ghost cat Aura, so I walked all the way back to the stable master and put her in the stable and made my way back to Uhk'loc. It was an easy tame and soon Uhk'loc was mine. I wanted to name him Donkey at first but thought it wouldn't be original. So I decided to name him after Donkey's little sidekick Diddy. However I wasn't a very good speller back then and didn't know how to spell Diddy so I ended up naming him 'Dinky' instead due to that. But it was a good name and Dinky's been with me ever since and he always will be!

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
Hello petopia! I'm a new member, and fairly new to the whole hunter scene, and I thought I'd make one of my first posts in here. I actually have a few stories.
First, my very first pet ever, Mazzranache. I'm a Tauren (still hope to get one of those sweet sigs with pics of me and my pets at some point). This was back when you didn't start with a pet, of course, and I had seen Mazz wandering around a while earlier during my questing. As soon as I saw the gorgeous birdy, I knew it had to be her. I levelled as quickly as I could, her being a rarespawn and all. I did my hunter quests to learn tame pet, nervously talking to a friend about her. I went back to where she was when I first saw her, and she wasn't there. No big deal, I knew she patted. I looked around.
I scoured the zone for 20 minutes, and I was panicking. No sign of her... what if someone had killed my beautiful pink tallstrider? In a last ditch effort, I went back to the first place I saw her... and there she was, just standing there. Almost seemed like she was waiting for me. I popped Tame Pet, and within minutes Bairne and Izzy were best of friends.
The second story is my second rarespawn pet, Ashtail. Me and my friend both wanted different pets from around there... she wanted some quest mob, a white bear, and I wanted ashtail. I was around level 25 and she was around level 18, so it was quite the treck from Undercity, with lots of corpse running, but we got there. We got her pet first, and then headed over to Loch Modan to seek out Ashtail. I was nervous because I'd heard of lines of hunters camping her, but nobody was there and my blue fox Aislinn was added to my list in very short order. We hearthed back to show off our new pets in Org.
The third(and final) story is about my first real experience with camping a rarespawn. Nuramoc. I dinged 70 and headed straight to Netherstorm. It stayed empty for a long time, and I did what friends had recommended to me, which was to camp one of his spawn points and then periodically go and check his other two patrol routes. I was up most of a night doing it, but not all night. I went to sleep and awoke early the next morning. Still no sign of the Chimaera. I killed both of the other rarespawns in the zone and logged onto an ally toon and /who'd netherstorm. There were 2 ally hunters and a paladin. I whispered all three, asking if they'd seen him. Neither of the hunters responded, but the pally was actually quite helpful: said he hadn't seen him, but if he did he'd let me know, he had a horde toon. So I logged back over and started chatting in guild chat.
After another hour or two of camping, I started surfing the web and started reading a thread about him on this very forum... when my rare tracker went off! I quickly switched windows and it was, in fact, my chimaera, flying right over me. I was mounted, and didn't realize that I had a pet out, so I had kind of a scary moment as my pet started wailing on him after I shot him to bring him down to me, but that fear quickly turned into excitement, then jubilation as I tamed him.
Now... hopefully I have as good of luck with the rare I'm camping now that I've reached 74... Arcturis.

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
Hmm, time to (re)tell the story of Cialbi and Timber? Gah, the flash drive with my screenshots is MIA
So, Cialbi was my first character, a dwarf hunter, back sometime before patch 3.2 (I recall that being the first major patch I saw released). As I'm questing along, experiencing this game for the first time, I come across a wolf pack guarding two islands in the middle of a frozen lake. Hmm, maybe this is important? So, I attacked. The darn sentries just stood there, evading my shots (which both baffled and frustrated me). So, I bypassed them, and attacked the patrols. Manageable - until I pulled a trio that pathed together, and as it turned out, would aggro together. The trio consisted of two wolves flanking a third wolf that looked nothing like all the other wolves in Dun Morogh, and that third wolf was named Timber. Timber & co proceeded to send Cialbi to the spirit healer. As I leveled, this would occasionally repeat itself, again... and again. I could down what I had come to refer to as Timber's bodyguards, but Timber was always too much to handle.
So, later on, Cialbi is taught how to tame beasts. He tamed a wolf, and gave it the creative name of Lupo. Getting an idea, we followed the frozen riverbed to the lake, and Timber's wolf pack. We cleared out the patrols systematically this time, pulled Timber, and downed the bodyguards. I abandoned Lupo (I had no clue what a macro in WoW was), and started to cast Tame Beast. Timber nearly killed me, but without the level disparity between us anymore, I managed to survive those 20 seconds.
Timber has always been with Cialbi in spirit from then on. Cialbi would go back and retame the exact same wolf every time I wanted to make a namechange (finally settled upon Silverfir after all these years, the name of a local alpine tree). Then, there was the hiatus. I somehow got it into my mind that I should tame a Shattered Hand Warhound. Well, guess who that would replace in my 5-slot stables? I then changed to a Vargul Blighthound, then back to the warhound, and stuck with that for the rest of WotLK.
Two things happened around the same time. First, I joined Petopia. Soon thereafter, the Shattering hit; I was just beginning to miss Timber after that. But, Timber was gone. The islands were devoid of wolves, instead being occupied by some renegade gnomes and their spider tank. I ought to roll a gnome sometime, just to find out what the heck is going on there. Anyways, I decided that Timber's pack had been driven off or killed by these dastardly gnomes (conveniently, they were hostile, but inconveniently, they weren't attackable). Finally, 4.1.0 came, and Timber returned. seeing that Timber had lost his pack, Cialbi was able to reconcile with him, and a short tame later (without any traps used) they were a team again. The first thing they did? Go to the nearby hanger, and kill the leper gnomes there until the newly-redubbed Silverfir was Happy again.

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
Your story made me want to share my Loque tame
I started playing in Wrath and my first toon was actually a warrior that I got to maybe level 14, but I was in Undercity one day and saw this gorgeous cat. Being the noob I was, I asked him how I could get it. He told me I had to be a level 76 BM hunter and that he was a rare spawn in Sholazar Basin. Scratching my head, I was like ok...then deleted my toon and made an orc hunter and leveled her up oh so slowly. Much to my surprise I actually LOVED playing my hunter. I leveled up with a cat I had gotten from a night elf area until I tamed my first BM pet, my Devilsaur I affectionately named Beasty. Beasty soon became my best friend all the way until I FINALLY hit level 76 on November 23rd, 2009. I remember the exact spot I hit 76. I was in grizzly hills just being impatient and running around killing things. And when my shiny "ding" came, I asked some guildies to help me find Loque since I didn't even have cold-weather flying yet lol. 2 of them agreed and when I got to Sholazar they were already there and much to my surprise - so was Loque'nahak.
I absolutely panicked. I was well prepared for a long camp after everything I've read about this cat. But no, much to my luck and delight he was there just waiting for me. I was shaking so bad and couldn't think and just started my tame pet without a trap or anything. and of course...he pounced and killed. I was in tears at this point thinking some other hunter was going to roam about and get him, but I was lucky enough to run back and one of my guildies healed me and I remembered to put my trap down this time
and finally...he was mine
I was so happy and my guild knew that cat was the whole reason I created my hunter and they all stopped what they were doing to go see him in org
It took me a week to name him because he was so special to me, but finally decided on Skythe. He's been my best pal ever since and never leaves my side. And it makes me giggle cuz I'm pretty well known on my server and when someone talks about Loque - they refer to him as Skythe, not Loque. It makes me smile
Loque is my inspiration for creating my hunter and staying loyal to the bm spec all the way to cata where it is finally putting out deeps
Skythe will never leave my side, no matter how shiny the next new pet I get may be. So to whoever that hunter was back in the day - thank you ever so much for my hunter

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
Wow you are lucky that it took you so little time for Loque.
I first joined wow after I got my Mac for Christmas last year. I looked through the classes and did some research, finding this site. I looked around at all the pretty pets and, even though I had planned to start as a druid, I decided to make my first toon a hunter after I got a look at Loqu'nahak.
I just had to have him no matter what.
So the minute after I hit the right level, I was in the basin, flying around and trying to find him.
I continued to look, spamming the general chat and asking anybody in Northend to let me know if they ever spotted him. I even had guild members who had my phone number camp in his spawn points while they waited to be pulled into instances. I would log in and just spend my entire time flying the spawn points for him, rarely, if ever, leaving the area. I even made a little alli character (Shade was horde back then) just to do a /who search to see what alli were in the basin and begged them to not kill Loque should they see him.
Four bloody months later I finally got my Loque.
He's not left my active pet slot since. As soon as my Gypsi and Kitsune are high enough levels, they will be doing the same thing.
Still my all time fave pet.
That was my longest tame.
My hardest tame was one of the Blackrock Battle Worgs. On both Gypsi and Shade, I used one of the little black wolf skins for a long time-Hel (Snarler) was Shade's primary raid pet the entire time that she raided in ICC, as I wouldn't run as a BM in there and was MM.
So following tradition, as soon as Kitsune hit 17, I ran her through to where these black pups were. I saw them in the patch info-they were jsut made tameable then-and I NEEDED one to have on Kit. So I ran all the way there on foot, dying many, many times. Tried to pull just one and tame-died. Had my freind get on her level 85 hunter and get her to hold aggro while I tamed-and I died. Tried to have my brother get on his pally and heal me while I tamed-and I died.
I was so ticked, about to give up, and I found one small little area where I was just barely in range to tame. Targeted the one nearest to me, hit tame, and he and six others started at me. I died at the fangs of the one I was trying to tame and watched the wolves run around my corpse for a bit, ticked off and trying to figure out how to do it while they ran back to sleep.
Finally got back to my corpse and rezzed, told myself just one more time. Once more and I would give up and try when I was a higher level. Repositioned myself and hit tame.
Got a message about having too many pets on hand. Looked at my list and sure enough the little guy was there!
Elated, I tried to use him-and he was unresponsive. Glitched. Oh I was furious enough that I didn't even use Kit for a month. When I came back in and checked on him-glory glory he was finally working again.
Darned wolf.

Re: Your first pet/long camp/exciting tame/whatever
My hunter is, apparently, an awful tracker. I didn't find a single one of my rares on her.
Gondria was my first rare pet.
I was leveling my mage through Zul'Drak, and ended up getting ganked. So I brought Tzzak, my hunter, over for some retribution. It's easy to make me get my main. I considered leaving her there in case my mage needed more help, but figured I'd just fly out if she did. Hearth and log back onto my mage. I see a rare spider, and after figuring out it wasn't a unique skin, just killed it.
The above is important, because not even half an hour later, I see Gondria. RIGHT outside of the troll questing hub. Panic mode.
Relog on hunter, and it turns out I need to run to Orgrimmar to respec, because I'd dropped BM for a PvP spec or something. Go to Org, respec, hearth and freak out to boyfriend on AIM, who flies over to make sure nobody takes it. (It was a nice gesture, but it turns out he couldn't find her, lolol.) Freaking out, hearth to Dal, fly over to where she was. Miraculously, kitty was still sitting there.
I got Loque'nahak much the same way. I saw him when I was herbing on... guess who... my mage again, lol. Log over to hunter, realize I didn't look where I was on the map on my mage before I logged. Swear. Ended up not finding him, but I was able to look up a respawn timer, and tamed him no problem the following morning.
And King Krush, I saw when herbing on my druid in Cata. Queue the same swears and mild panic. And, shoot, my hearth is in Orgrimmar. Am I going to get there in time?! Freak out, freak out... realize I have the tabard that teleports you to the Argent Tourney. Hurr.
In short, my hunter is apparently a lame tracker, if she can't find her own pets. xD I feel kind of bad, because I didn't camp for any of them. I just kinda stumbled across all of the ones I really wanted, while people are camping for them forever. I'm sorry! lol
