(re: Sholazar trio: I think the trip up is that there's an extra S. It's either "The Sholazar Trio deserves to be Petopia's mascot" or "The Sholazar Trio deserve to be Petopia's mascots." Either the trio is a singular group and thus mascot should be singular (because the trio is the mascot), or it's a group made of multiple items and thus "deserve" should be sans S (the trio are the mascots). If that makes sense.)
