Aw, this again.
Nothing was said to imply anything of the sort, since Skoll was killed and(presumably) looted for gold according to the OP.
No one is getting an attitude, don't panic - everyone is handling it pretty well actually!

Thats the impression I was getting.
(Also by attitude, I meant the ones the others were saying was there but it's not. Just incase you misinterpreted what I meant by that. )
Do I see it as wrong to kill a cata rare? Yeah I kind of do mostly cause its 25g aka almost 1 daily quest. Yes its a rare spawn that will spawn again but like I said its that hunter who will be coming back in 6 hours to continue a camp that may last for days/weeks/months while you get your kicks off a 25g tear of loyatly that blantly says it wanted to be tamed not killed, and thats something blizzard put in to deter people from killing that rare cause blizzard wanted hunters to tame it.
What I am saying is what ticks me off is people who kill it on purpose just to tick off the hunters, yes I get that... "achievement" points are important to people but ive had people kill them on me while I was trying to tame it, or had it tagged for a hunter who was coming to tame it who obviously got nothing out of it but just wanted to grief hunters. If a person wanted to kill it for the achievement and the hunter who was coming was to far away, id of course have to give it to that person, just cause id feel bad.. so its a lose-lose situation for me or win-lose..
You can say its not wrong for someone to kill something that obviously means nothing to them but is it wrong for a hunter who could actually use that animal to say.. maybe do.. everything considering how important pets are to hunters as we are more dependent on our pets then any other class to be upset about it? No.. you cant blame them.
I am saying I will cheer for the hunter with a freshly tamed pet that he adores then cheer for a person who links the frostbitten achievment.
Though I have made quite a pretty penny off of vyra.. but thats cause I am camping tlpd and 48 vyras have come out to see me.. Ive seen 18 skolls and most of them I found a home with hunters who are very happy about him. Having a person saying thank you just once is more important to me then some gold and a corpse. But thats just how I am.
80% of the player base eh............... Jerks?!? Aren't you kinda, almost, like maybe being one yourself for making such a broad sweeping statement with a single shred of evidence?!?
I really don't understand why people keep hammering on that this person was so bad?!?!?! You can't control any player but yourself, nor should you wish to! It would be better to act the way you wish to be treated. You're basically giving people a free ticket to make a broad statement about you based on total 'thin air'... hardly fair and ONLY good for creating problems and arguments. Something this forum has had enough of lately tbh.
Sorry Jess... But making those kinds of assumptions instead of asking the exact details of what the op didn't post..Was it trapped etc? Will only lead to misery. So, I'll ask you why did you assume that? The op was clear, they didn't want skoll and was busy trying to find a home for him, very commendable action (yet specific details were left out and as such should of been question). Another player came along and killed it, that's life. He was totally right and entitled to! The reason people may seem to be getting an 'attitude' is because this subject just doesn't seem to get into peoples heads.
Rare's are rare and anyone can do what they like to it, whenever and where ever they like. ONLY when you have a gold shine and a ding does it belong to the hunter taming it, until then it's fresh meat for every single paying member of wow.
To answer Saresi, who posted while I was writing this. What I do totally not understand is the very nature of hunters is to track and hunt prey/people etc. We even get abilities to help us in WoW to single out different sorts of creatures, be it beasts/humans/etc. So, why can't a player (regardless of class) take on the role of a prize hunter, who's task it is in game to find and kill any and every rare pet in the game?!? Basically that is what I did when I went hunting for Frostbitten and I'm pretty sure I might of made a few people mad with my actions, but I had every right to do what I did. Was the guy in the OP's post so noble of task?!?! I highly doubt it, but what is really the difference? That's right, nothing.

Because it's common sense to trap and tag it before looking for a home for it. That's what I do. If it's tagged, then it's mine to do with what I want. According to Blizzard(I've talked to a GM about this), if it's tagged as yours and someone kills it without you wanting them to, they can be reported for griefing. And again, that's not the 'attitude' I was referring to. I was meaning the 'attitude' being assumed that the op is being entitled when they arent.
But eh, I wasn't here to argue and I highly doubt the OP wanted an argument thread. I just posted my two cents and thats all thats needed. ^_^
In my opinion, both sides of this argument are taking it entirely too much to heart.
The other hunter who killed Skoll was neither in the wrong or the right. It is entirely appropriate to think he was a douce and entirely appropriate to think he was perfectly justified in what he did.
The fact of the matter is that it simply depends on how you look at it. This, unlike some other cases which are more just and dry, is not the easiest thing to judge. This is not a case where, as you were taming a rare, another person killed it, killed you, and then danced and spat on both bodies. This is not a case of another hunter killing the rare you are almost done taming with that same rare. Often cases like those can be appropriately called griefing, especially if it happens more than once (with the same person being the griefer).
Of course, one can also argue that those same cases aren't cases of douchery, though I that point I would have to argue with you.
It's as simple as this:
1. People often play this game by themselves, or with a select few friends.
2. They then forget that anyone else playing the game is not just an NPC OR they decide that, because the internet allows them to be anonymous, they are entitled and allowed to be jerks.
3. We pay for it.
However, they are allowed to be jerks if they so wish. It's rude, and the game would probably be much better if everyone was polite and remembered their manners, but thats how both Azeroth and the world work. People are jerks, and we just have to live with it.
So be upset if you want or don't be. You have a right to either emotion or opinion. I, personally, don't care which you have, nor do I care for you to know mine.
Well to answer you Sgtmakkie I understand you have to kill a rare once for that achievement, and like I said if a person asked me if he could kill it and the hunter was to far away or I could not find anyone, I would of course let him kill it. What I am talking about are the people who swoop in kill the rare, laugh at you, go /spit, may or may not loot the rare then fly off feeling good about themselves. I actually have a"person" on my realm who goes around killing all the northrend rares even those not on the acheievement list and puts the blues up at a price that will NEVER sell, NOONE is going to pay 400g now for a blue like that, I am sorry but its not happening. He has 4 shammies with the same name just different alt characters and all he does is kill rares.. whether or not hes a gold farmer is left for others to decide. Skoll is a prime target for TLPD campers who see him and think they have to kill him in order to make TLPD spawn, thats all there is to it. If you see a rare do you have every right to kill it? Yes you do, does it make it a good thing? to me, no.. main difference is we keep what we find as a pet to do useful things. Thats the difference.
And well put Ael! What you do is what you do, do I have to agree with it? No. My opinion is just that, my opinion.
IMO, killing a tamable rare spawn that doesn't have an equivelent common skin is the same as ninja looting, which pretty much everyone can agree is something only douchebags do. ALL classes farm things, small pets, mounts, gear. Hunters who want rares just have one more thing to add to that list, and it's not fair when other people kill them for kicks, especially for stupid reasons like 25 G and obsolete blues. In the Storm Peaks, you can make 25 G doing 2 Hodir daily quests, literally minutes away from Skoll's spawn points.
Paying $15/month does not give anyone the right to be a douche. When you're online, the same rules of common courtesy should apply that do in real life.
