Re: The New Eight Rares
I personally will probably tame the Sbs for sure and atleast one of the spiders.. Deth for sure. Atleast for the challenge and who knows what happens after you tame something, some of the pets I really didnt want but tamed anyways I ended up loving.. But as a person who went EEEEEEEEEE KILL IT when I saw terror spinner each and every time, and who went EEEEEEEEEEEE KILL IT in that dungeon with the big spider boss, and who stops each time going through the mountains to kill that big green spider cause its big I.. slightly cringe at the thought of running 20 mins from a spider... wont prevent me from not doing it, but still.. nightmares to come hahaha.
Considering spiders have the most rares compared to the others it still an interesting thought.
thank you Ashaine and Kurenio!!!!
Re: The New Eight Rares
1) If they only put in one spider rare, everyone would run with that as their Cunning pet. I mean, look at Terrorpene. He's every three feet in Orgrimmar and Stormwind; having a blue or a green variant on his skin as well would have been welcome.
2) If, following the Terrorpene logic, they only put in three of their five spider rares, you know the vocal minority will be complaining about how they'd wanted the neglected two.
That said, I don't run arenas anymore, so a selection of PvP rares isn't my cup of tea anyway.

Re: The New Eight Rares
I posted this in the thread about Magria, and will likely post it in all the threads about these rares.Gimlion wrote:Honestly, people would not be as disappointed if Blizzard didn't make them out to be so great. I love every one of them (except the owl), and I'll likely tame each of the spiders (Gondria will be my only spectral kitty), but I think that should Blizzard have just put them in and said something like "We have put in a few previously unavailable skins to tame, but you have to be clever enough to tame any of the 8"
When Blizzard stated that there would be 8 new taming challenge rares to find, many people expected "Loques", I knew that they wouldn't be "Loques", as no new models were datamined. People expect too much, and get far too disappointed when it turns out the way that all evidence was pointing too (There were several unused Gondria skins, and 3 fire spiders left out, and no new models were made for this patch, except the owl, which was slowly built) is *GASP* actually how it ended up!
If this would have been any other patch, and they were just thrown in and found, people would be far more excited, imo. It's like this to me: Someone promised us candy, we were expecting 8 Kingsized chocolate bars of a never before seen brand of chocolate, what we got was 6 Kingsized chocolate bars of existing brands, only with some sort of variety to make them different enough, and 2 Kingsized Chocolate bars that are fun to get, and everybody whined, even though they could have just said thanks. They should have just left the 'candy' out for us to find, then no one could be disappointed, as no one knew anything like this was coming.
Like it or hate it, I don't think you can be mad at Blizzard, they are showing that they care for the Hunter community, and are proving that by making HARD tames, not impossible to find tames, and this is something I, and many others here have been wanting since WotLK...

Re: The New Eight Rares
I'm gonna have to call you out on this. I raided and completed those fights as BM and was still in the Top 5 DPS.....multiple times. I would've been on the top but the air phases kinda lower the DPS but they aren't in the air that long so it's not enough to say "Omg you can't raid as BM!".mmjauaww wrote:Aww, so sadWhy couldnt they just make them Cats, instead of spirit beasts.. You can't raid as BM (Atramedes, valiona and other fights with air phases) where you have to go MM, and BM/SV is sharing the bottom...
But oh well, thanks at least for some taming challenges

Re: The New Eight Rares
I wish everyone would stop complaining so much. These are all models that were previously not in-game and the taming mechanics attached to each of these mobs is an awesome nod toward hunters. Try to think of challenges like this specific to other classes. Yeah, if there are any they are few and far between. Just be happy for this. The other models will make it into the game eventually.
Besides, if Blizz released all unused/new models at once, we'd have nothing to look forward to.

Thanks to Vephriel for this awsome sig

Re: The New Eight Rares
It certainly is very possible to raid as BM. My guild is 13/13H; I haven't been on WoW for a couple months due to a cross-state move, but I am personally 10/13H. Two of the three core hunters have a BM offspec, and we pull very competitive numbers. There is even one or two fights (Heroic Ascendant Council comes to mind) where BM is a better spec, so that you can concentrate on your movement and personal awareness with a minimal DPS loss.Jessibelle wrote:I'm gonna have to call you out on this. But oh well, thanks at least for some taming challengesI'm very defensive about this cause I do a good job raiding as BM and usually when people say you cant raid as BM, they don't have their facts straight.
However, it is not optimal to raid 90% of this tier as BM. The AoE is sub-par, pets bug out on Al'akir, and as aforementioned Atramedes and, to a much lesser extent, Nefarian have air phases. Heroic Nefarian is a gigantic pain as BM since responsible raiders keep their pets on passive, and every time you're MCed your pet will stop attacking. Sinestra has glaring issues with pet AI, and oftentimes hunterpets will die to the lava surrounding her.
Top World of Logs records for hunters on this heroic tier have MM hunters a good 10k in DPS above BM on the same fights, in comparable gear.
In short, I'm sorry for the derail, but you're both right. Possible to raid as BM? Certainly. Advisable? Not often.

Re: The New Eight Rares
Again, thats all matter of opinion. I've done the Al'akir fight(not completed it) and my pets never bugged out on me. Only time my pets bugged out was on Magmaw but I could revive him no problem.(He thinks epics are in the fire so he's going to get them for me.). AOE isn't really necessary in any of these fights. I've still remained top without the best aoe, even on Cho'gall. I was in the number one spot. Blizzard's made it clear AoE isn't the biggest thing needed for these fights and they don't want it to be. So the whole AoE thing really is pointless to argue or say one is better than the other.dayseeder wrote:It certainly is very possible to raid as BM. The gear can't just be comparable. It has to be equal. Exact same stuff. Exact same fight. I've out DPSed MM hunters on Cho'gal, including downing the adds. Also not many people attempt heroic raids. Why? They're boring. So with that in mind, Heroic Raids are just a slim few that actually do it. The judgement should lie in the normal raids, where majority are.

Works for me.dayseeder wrote:I'd rather not continue this derail, but I think it's safe to say that I'm referring to the heroic versions of these fights, and you are not. (: We'll settle with 'BM is fine for normal modes.'

If there's one thing I've learned on this board, it's that talking about optimized raid specs or heroic modes is a no go. Might as well just keep it to the pets.
Deth and the owl look nice, the rest I won't waste stable slots on.
