It doesn't matter how bad your childhood is. Hurting something defenseless is wrong on the most basic level and is something that most people wouldn't do even as young children.

I hate people like that...I also feel sorry for animals for it, im glad theres people out there like that 9-year old kid who care for animals...

I am seriously tired of hearing 'animals have noamotions!' and all violence jokes related to hurting animals in some way or another, I know animals look different than us..but in my heart I know they think like humans and feel like them even if not standing on two legs..screw science I dont care what they say, I still think animals can feel and think like humans do...

O.O That's horrible!!! Poor kitty! I totally agree with rubybeam, animals are like people, just because we don't understand them as humans doesn't mean they don't have feelings! Duh! I mean, what if that was a 2 year old kid he was doing that to? He'd be in muuuch deeper trouble.

Neither do humans. It's all electrical impulses in our brains.

Ugh, that is such a horrible thing to do. Silly to claim that animals don't have feelings, if you've ever accidentally stepped on a dog's paw, for example, you'd know. Or left your dog alone for a few hours. Or you're babysitting someone else's dog.

Well sure, she's got a point, animals probably don't have feelings the SAME way we do, since they're not sentient, but they've still got FEELINGS. My dog can be happy, sad, anxious, curious, eager, hyper, down, all kinds of things. He probably doesn't think about it like we do, but he's definitely experiencing emotions. Just sounds like she didn't know how to explain it.

Animals can feel pain. And the fact that this kid decided to beat a kitten just to make it hurt... that kid really needs mental help.

And animals do have feelings. I watched my boss's dog for a week, and that dog would not get of the couch. I literally had to pick her up to take her outside so she would go to the bathroom. When my boss is around the dog was energetic and playful. That whole week my boss was gone she was depressed. Animals have feelings, not the same we people do, but they still do have feelings.

This made me so angry. Animals have feelings, both physical and emotional. That poor kitten was probably in so much physical and emotional pain. I know it sounds bad but I hope that kitten did die because of that abuse so that boy can go around for the rest of his life with a felony on his record. My daughter is only 16 months and she knows better than to hurt animals- she doesn't grab tails, ears or scruffs anymore. If a 16 month old can understand that you shouldn't hurt animals then I'm sure a 12 year old can too.
Again, I really hope this gets bumped up to a felony. And I hope someone walks up to this kids and beats the hell out of him the way he beat that cat. To me there is no difference between an animal's life and another human's life, we both have the right to live without fear of being hurt by someone bigger. There need to be more people in the government who are willing to speak for animal's rights and make crimes, like this, more than just a slap on the hand and a fine.
I make my boyfriend stop every time I see a stray dog on the road so I can get it to a shelter were it's owners can be found, (or a new home can be provided) I can only imagine what I'd do if I saw some kid holding a knife up to a lifeless kitten.

Human emotions are more advanced in the sense that we know what we're feeling, why we're feeling it and what is making us feel that way.... but they're not any different [feeling] than animal emotions.

I have a kitten myself. Today, my kitten managed to escape our apartment and was wandering. Some man was sitting there, cornered her, and started smacking the wall to try and scare her, and he was laughing and enjoying himself the entire time. My cat was, thankfully, rescued by my mother and she cursed him out and yelled at him.

I say this because while it wasn't as intense, it's still disturbing someone was trying to mess up my cat and make her miserable. However, whether it's an instance like with my kitty or with killing a kitty, wishing them to be killed and beaten up is extreme and a -wrong- way of thinking. I know I've said this before in the number of animal cruelty threads, but it's not right.

Now, before you jump at me and say, "Azu! But you were okay with Bin Laden dying, that's celebrating and wanting people dead!", that is completely different. I know I'm about to sound like a heartless monster, but kitten < thousands of people who could potentially die. That kid, yes, should go to jail. No ifs or buts. A trip to psychiatric ward is good too. But not death.
