It doesn't bother me either way. I like aspects of both styles of armor. :)

Bring it back, my Orc hunter looks insanely awesome in skimpy gear. Not talking sexually at all, the muscular build of a female Orc is amazing and derserves to be flaunted.

Not gonna lie, I love skimpy gear, but I don't really mind the gear we have now either. My nelf-gone-tauren warrior gladly wore the pants that drop from Princess for ages and my priest had black mageweave for who knows how long, but I did eventually replace them, and my hunter is sitting in Justice gear that is probably as un-skimpy as you can get. I appreciate it for realism reasons, but that doesn't stop me from collecting the other stuff. My hunter alone has a black mageweave set, the Orgrimmar grunt set*, a few other mageweave recolors...at the same time, she's got full Devout, a Transcendence recolor, very non-revealing RP sets - it's just fun to dress up, imo, even if some of the clothes are skimpy and goofy.

*not especially revealing, but kind of.

Honestly, I wish they would alternate between skimpy and non-skimpy. I know female players on both sides of the issue, with some hating the idea of bikini armor or revealing robes while others love the idea of skimpy outfits and "playing dressup" with them. One girl I know plays a Hunter and wore full Fang Lord armor (the purple leather set from Wailing Caverns) until her toon got into the mid 60's levels simply because of how it looked. She was also the one that whined the most about the "dildo helm" from the Frost Emblem set in LK.

Oddly enough, one thing I realized with all of this is that most of my female friends that want the skimpy or sexy armor sets are the ones that play cloth and leather classes, while the ones that hate the idea are mostly plate and mail classes. Did anyone else run into that (assuming you've asked or taken note over the years)?

I suppose I should sort of edit my previous statements a little. I shouldn't say I never like my characters to wear some of the skimpier outfits, but I'm definitely not fond of it when my plate wearers are wearing skimpy plate in combat situations where they're getting their faces smashed in. I RP with my death knight and she would never be caught dead in battle with unprotective armor.

However, just as dress up options I don't mind them as much. One of these days I'll get around to getting my DK one of those pretty dresses from AQ.

Is that how she died the first time and became a Death Knight? Sorry, I couldn't resist having fun that one ;)

but the revealing parts are protected by magical Incantations... on that note I decided to give rift a test and while their armor for female models was skimpy it was also protective only revealing the inner thighs, stomach and arms. While most of the vital points were covered.

Well no, that giant poleaxe on her back is so that she can do the chopping. ;) That doesn't make her armor any less protective. Although, to be fair, I don't mind it so much on her since I have her pet set up to tank while she dishes out damage.

heh Beast master/champion/riftblade FTW that said I guess that is true, but even if she didn't if she got to the point where she would be chopped in half due to lack of armor she probably would've lost anyway even with more armor.

All I can say is, if you do wear skimpy or revealing gear on a character, let's hope your enemy's aiming for the shiny parts.

This might sound strange, but I actually find women clad head to toe in armor to be more attractive than those who are wearing practically nothing. It's empowering and it leaves a lot to the imagination, which can be far more fun than seeing it all hanging out. This is why I love my paladin girls to bits--they can be strong and sexy without exposing a lot of skin.

As much as I love Frazetta and other classic fantasy artists, I think the "plate bikini" trope needs to be put to rest. It's terribly overdone and cliche, especially in video games.

While on the topic of armor likes/dislikes, let me chirp in with a complaint about the ridiculously sized pauldrons - how anyone could choose to fight in those is beyond belief (except possibly Tauren paladins I suppose).
