First rare pet!

So, after years of alt-hopping, and then making new "mains", I decided to return to my beloved hunter Thyira who I created in open beta.. and again after the game was released. I decided that some of the new pets, especially the rare spirit beasts were just gorgeous, and they drew me back. I tried farming skoll... But the whole camping thing tends to bore me (short attention spans ftl), and since he's near quest areas, I imagine that doesn't help.

Then I started extending my reach.. occasionally searching for Loque... Still no luck.. Started getting bored of my hunter a bit again... Then the cataclysm happened... I decided that the sparkle-crab WOULD BE MINE! It was perfect... A rare.. that was a crab (I've always kinda wanted one), as well as a spirit beast (also always wanted), and it's SPARKLY. Also, it's in a "dead zone" where no one other than hunters would have any reason to be.

This morning I decided I was going to play my druid, but after about an hour I figured "Hey, let's go check for ghostcrawler. I'll probably be out of luck, but who knows!". So I switched over. Immediately upon logging in the big scarey sea monster almost ran right into me. I freaked out a little, hopped on my seahorse and dashed away. I actually ended up following it to some extent.. Swimming beneath it's shadow, spamming my target macro... Not really expecting anything... Until I suddenly hear "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!!!" ... MY MACRO HAD GONE OFF!

I spin around, searching frantically, and see the little fellow, crawling just off to my right! I down all my buffs/hastes, as I'd heard he could be quite difficult, and he poofed! My heart skipped a little.. No! I'd been searching since I hit 85! Then I remembered reading that this happened... Took a deep breath.. And started spamming the macro again!

He reappeared, I took a deep breath, and prepared for a thorough butt-kicking and failed attempt (from everything I'd heard) only to have the little guy pretty much effortlessly hop into my hands!

Now I have my very own Sparkles! Yay!

Congrats! I've heard people talking about how hard a tame he could be, but honestly I never had that much trouble. I'm glad you got him.

And don't give up on Skoll. He might be in a questing area-but most people are not there that often anymore these days, not with the Cata zones opened up. The WOTLK rares are killed just a little less often it seems thanks to that.

I say that, though I've been camping Articus for about 9 hours now with little luck.
