You are too sweet! Thank you so much

I went with my gut and created Bastien as a death knight last night. I had the same problem you did with his name - I actually wound up hopping onto another server to get it in its original form. I could have gotten Bastyen on my server, but after writing so much about him as Bastien already it just didn't seem right. How are you about putting punctuation in your character's names? I don't care for it much unless the name itself really has it, but the French spelling of Aimee is Aimée - maybe that's a possibility?

I am usually against it, I just hate having to try and remember what the ascii code was for it. Just seems to cause problems for me haha. It has crossed my mind.

Honestly though, the fact that an actual legit spelling of Aimee has the ascii character is a little more appealing. But when I see something Súpérmân, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Have you ever considered Bastien going by a new name after becoming a Death Knight? Referring to himself as something different, or even the different spelling like the Bastyen you mentioned, such as a corrupted spelling for a corrupted man? Ever looked at it that way?

I usually am, too - my laptop doesn't even carry the normal codes that most desktops do, so I usually wind up having to go to Google to type in the letter and then copy-paste it from there. I agree - I can't stand seeing another Súpérmân, but when it's a genuine name I am totally OK with it. I think Aimée is a very beautiful name, and blood elves like using punctuation in their names anyway, so it's just up to you if you want to deal with it.

I actually hadn't considered that at all - what a super interesting way to look at it! Come to think of it, if death knights don't remember their past lives, do they remember their own names at all? Maybe the Lich King changes them on purpose. But I do love the corrupted spelling/corrupted man comparison, a LOT.

It used to be, in some cultures, that people would adopt new names when beginning a new phase of their lives. This would seem very appropriate for a death knight. I know my death knight spent most of Outlands functionally insane; it took him about 10 levels to come to terms with what he had been and what he would always be.

You're right; that does seem VERY appropriate for a death knight. I definitely think that Bastien will be more than a little nutty, too; he's spent all of his life wanting to be a hero and save people, and he wound up becoming the very thing he fought so hard to destroy. I love that your character took so long to come to terms with his new self - very realistic. I'm still working out the kinks for this new phase of Bastien's life, but I'm very excited. They seem like such an interesting, psychologically-complex class to play. I think that maybe, after he is freed from the Lich King's control, his memory will come back to him in pieces. I doubt it would be instantaneous.

Yeah they do go great together, good screenshot, nice angle. Never realized it had pink colored eyes, fits well.

Whats next on the list?

BTW even Aimee with the special e is taken, no doubt someone is placeholding it. I stuck with Aylee, I am levelling with a friend though so her progression will be a lot slower. I need to go make her official pet list to, got some great ideas in this thread already.

Thank you both so much! I love the colors, too. I totally got the screenshot on accident - I was trying to get a nice angle and clicked weird, and that happened. I thought it looked perfect and I love the close-up of her eyes. Her name is Wisteria :) What's yours named, Airwyn?

I think our next goal is the amazing Duneclaw Lasher, whose appearance helped spawn the idea of Bastienne's girly-girl theme. Her name is going to be CottonCandy, I think. I just love the combination of something ferocious in such a soft color :)

Image

I'm heartbroken that Aimée is taken! :( I loved that name, but Aylee is very cute, too, and still has much of the same sound. Do post a picture of her when you can, I'd love to see her!

I will get a screen, although she will look similar to Salaina due to using the heirlooms xD I will probably wait till I get the first pet.

I am working on her stable now. I think I am going to use the rebellious angle, but she is still a girl, and she appreciates vibrant and beautiful colors and creatures. She also has a place in her heart to go out and see the world, so creatures from strange lands, or strange looks also interests her. Finally, she identifies with creatures that are outcast because they are ugly, or overlooked because they aren't special. She herself feels like an outcast in a unique way with her parents*, and because of this, she tends to make bonds with creatures that are overlooked. Roll all these together and you get her stable. Obviously I have more than 25 below, but most have multiple colors of skins so I am just compiling them to reduce later. I dont plan on getting her much higher than 72 if I can help it (for Gezzarak). I actually dont want to get either of them much past 70 for right now.

* I am really excited to develop this aspect of Aylee. Her mom was raised by the marksmen of Darnassus, so she is really focused on the art of the bow/gun. Pinpoint accuracy and strong mobility. Rendir, on the other hand, has the strong connection with animals, even the most wild and seemingly untameable of creatures. Aylee is different. She loves her bow, but she doesn't wanna stay cooped up in front of a target all day. And she loves her pets, but she doesn't want to just hang around a stable all day. She wants to go out into the world. I am portraying her as a survival hunter, especially in the sense of being able to survive out by herself, and living off the land. she often ran away as a child, and she knows how to hide and be untraceable VERY well. She knows how to create traps, and tricks in order to survive. Because of this, she ends up meeting a rogue (as in renegade, not the class) hunter who introduces her to the art of the survival hunter. He teaches her how to make an explosive arrow, how to make an arrow that hits and causes a powder to be released that disorients the target. Rendir and Salaina dont know much about this type of hunter, it is very new and scary to them. Aylee is too independant though, she went out into the world and learned it herself. Because of this, she is uniquely different than her parents. she isn't going to be the whiny teenager who has a hissy fit because mommy wont let her put a purple streak in her hair. Aylee is really carving her place in the world out, Rendir and Salaina are just trying to keep up. Not to spoil to much, but at one point, Aylee runs off and joins the rebuilding effort for Outlands for a few months. She is such a free spirit, but it puts an understandable strain on mom and dad.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love the themes you have working together for her stable – they all mesh so perfectly well! I especially love how she identifies with the misfit, outcast creatures – and I think the collection you’ve chosen so far matches this perfectly.

I absolutely LOVE how you have fleshed out her personality, too. I bet she was a handful as a child  I love that she’s not just the rebellious gothic type of teenager, but truly a free, independent spirit. I think that comes from her mother – you were right earlier when you said how close they were to each other in personality. I can definitely see her running off and helping out in the Outlands for a while – and probably taming a lot of beasts while she is there, too.

I wish Bastienne was as well-developed as Aylee! I know for a fact she isn’t even half as adventurous – Bastienne is super spoiled, not to the point of being one of those stuck-up preppy types or anything, but she has definitely lived a life of protection and luxury thanks to her daddy. She is very animal-oriented and has never grown up without being surrounded by her dad’s pets. Poor Whitnee, she needs to have a child that isn’t superglued to her husband 24/7

Here are some of what I am thinking for her stable so far:

And the ones she already has:

(Lavender, Sunset, Bubblegum, and Wisteria)

I had an image in my head of Rendir and Salaina sitting around the table, worrying about her. "I just don't know where she gets it." They would say.

And that "rogue" hunter that introduces her into the survival hunter world... I dont think I am going to build another toon around him, but I think he will play a bigger role. You hear these stories of fathers who meet the boy that is dating their daughter, and he is sitting in the living room cleaning his shotgun as the boy walks in? Yeah Rendir may be like that, but instead of a shotgun, its an onyx devilsaur with a toothy grin :D. Come to think of it, Rendir may have a shot gun as well, being a hunter and all.

For Bastienne, those dragonhawks fit her really well in my opinion, I knew she would have a couple, if not all of them! I am interested in what you name all of these, the theme you got going on is really cute, especially that sunburst adder. It is such a brilliant color (take it to Ungoro for a wild effect on it), but I never could think of a good name for one.

Oh my gosh, I can see them sitting around the table SO well... and I can see Rendir sitting around with a shotgun and a Devilsaur really well, too  That rogue hunter better be good at survival if he's going to face him!!!!

I thought they fit her very well, too - that pink and violet one especially may just be her icon pet when she is high enough leveled to get it. I think that, being named after the original Bastien, she has a lot of sin'dorei pride and those dragonhawks are really the epitome of blood elves :D

I decided to level with my friend with a different toon. Once I made Aylee's stable, I got too anxious to level and start taming, and I know I will out level him to quick

I don't blame you!!! I don't even know who to play right now. I'm stuck between wanting to level Bastienne, Whitnee, or even Bastien... and then there is always the possibility of Annemarie!! So many characters, not enough time!

Ohh, I love Lilac! That was one of the ones I had in mind when I settled on Wisteria :) Beautiful name – I love flower names, especially for Bastienne’s girly pets!

And Shirubia, I love both of those very much, thank you! I have always wanted a shale spider but never saw one that fit – but that purple one is very pretty :D Going to be adding them both to my list

I absolutely love that picture of Aylee! She looks like she is brooding  And speaking of brooding...
