Unique Black Worg

Unread post by rwhemme »

Hello everyone /waves. I have Googled this until my fingers have bled. I was in SW the other day and saw a very interesting looking worg. I tried to whisper the hunter it belonged to but I was either being ignored or they were actually AFK. Anyway, I'll get to the point ... it is a black saber worg but it had this black 'smoke' emminating from it, almost like ash. I don't typically care for that model of wolf, even though I do have Skoll, but this is one I just need to add to my stable. Does anyone know where I can find this guy? Is he a rare spawn? Is it only obtainable if you have a quest (like the white lion on the Horde side)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I said, I have Googled this but have not found anything useful & it's driving me NUTZ!!! >=(

Thanks in advance!

It's the Oil-Stained Wolf.
The hunter may not have answered you for fear of getting reported or something.

The Oil-stained wolf can be tamed in two methods, one of which is pretty iffy according to most hunters, the other method that has been confirmed as against the rules by Blizzard.

I actually tamed one through the first method before people started using the pet abandon macro (the second method) to tame just about any pet with an appearance buff on it. I will say while he looks neat, he can be an annoyance to play with. I've actually decided to release mine. I'm not at all attached to him and there is a good amount of controversy to having one right now, I don't think they are worth it. Some people believe that it is wrong to even have one at the moment, but I've not heard for certain one way or the other for them.

Stick with Skoll. He looks much nicer and has that handy Spirit Beast healing ability.

Um, actually, taming appearance buff pets with the abandon macro is fine so long as no one reports you. Tthere was a post from Wain clearing this up a while back. So long as you're not purposely exploiting they don't care.

Thanks for letting me know what it was! And wow, do I feel like a total noob now ... never knew there was a special add-on for taming! LOL Anyhow - I will take the info under advisement and place gaining this one on the back-burner, because as of 5 minutes ago, I just happened on the rare I've been hunting for, for the last 3 days! I am now the proud owner of Loque'nahak!!! Now if I only knew what to name him ...

Thanks again for all the replies/suggestions, etc =)

This site is really very awesome!

Congrats on your Loque. :)

And if you're referring to the pet abandon macro, it's not an addon-on, but if you mean SilverDragon or _NPCScan then ignore that first bit. XD

That thread I linked in my first post details some of the possible buff pets and might have the method of obtaining them. The method that I know still works for taming these kind specialty pets can be found here: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... ndon+macro
Just as a for the future thing if you decide to get any of the buff pets. ^_^ And as I said before, so long as you aren't purposely exploiting one with a damage buff or anything, these are all perfectly safe pets to have around. Blizzard is turning a blind eye to them and won't take them away unless someone reports you (which I imagine most people wouldn't report you unless you were being a jerk, and I'm pretty sure you're not a mean person ).
