Oh, Veph...

You should have told them that, in case their install path is different, they should write their own install path in the first line instead of yours.

Yeah, I was just specifying towards Dragonpuff since she was the one asking, but you're right. The path might be different on other computers. :)

And here's the .bat I made for you. Just doubleclick it and it should automatically delete the Cache and then close itself.

Veph and Kara are correct. This one will only work if your file is in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache
You'll have to extract it. The forums won't allow me to upload a .bat.

EDIT:

You could also have the batch file start WoW after deleting the cache. That way you'd only need one icon, and you'd know the cache was always cleared before starting the game.

It would look something like this:
CD C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enUS
del CREATURECACHE.WDB
"C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe"
Then, for bonus points, you can make it look fancy. :)
  • Put the batch file in your WoW folder, then right click it and choose "Send to -> Desktop(create shortcut)".
  • Rename this shortcut to "World of Warcraft".
  • Right click the shortcut and choose properties.
  • If you're not already there, click the shortcut tab.
  • Click the "Change icon" button. It will ask you where to find an icon to use, so browse to "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\", select wow.exe and hit "OK" until you're out of all the windows.
You should now have an icon that looks exactly like your WoW one, but clears the cache before opening the launcher!

...

Did I ever mention I didn't pick this screen name, it was given to me?

I came in here expecting to find some clever, witty pun about choosing a witch. I was thinking, green skin, black cats and warts and all!
But instead I find very useful info on mob scanners, and how to "macro" them.
I <3 macros, and I love how this forum is full of so much useful information in every little post, with so very knowledgeable people. I've already printed off a few posts and will certainly be trying this when I get home later. Thanks peoples :D

NPCScan only works for Outland and Northrend mobs. The vanilla ones are'nt in the database.

Yes, NPCscan is formatted to only come with the Outland and Northrend rare mobs. You can, however, add your own rares if you like.

All you need is the mob's ID number which can be found on a site like WoWhead.com. When you look up a specific creature, the URL of that page will have a number at the end, and that's the ID number you input.

Hey ok so my attempt at the file was like this

HDD C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB
del CREATURECACHE.WDB
HDD C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe

I then changed the name of it to
Delete Cache.bat but it still just opens as a text doc any advice on this please?

Can I also say I do use Windows Vista

I think that Windows Vista and Windows 7 have slightly more complicated means to create a batch file. On Windows XP when you change the end of a file name it will convert the file to that type, but in later versions of Windows they removed that I guess so you couldn't accidentally mess something up.

Anyhoo, I'll ask my boyfriend about it, but I'm sure someone else will post here before I can. :3

Nope Veph. It's far more likely that he's not showing extensions.

Are you showing extensions?

Ah, okies. I have no familiarity with Vista, but I know on Windows 7 it won't let you do that, so that's what I was thinking.

Both 7 and Vista let you change the extension of files. The only difference vs. XP is that you get an annoying UAC alert.

Nah, you can do it in any folder. Then just change the .txt in your batch to a .bat.
