Not really interested in 4.2 Pets

Am I the only person who looks at these new pets released in 4.2 and finds none of them really exciting. I mean, i am tired of spirit beasts being these wispy ghost forms. I remember when Lich King launched and i first saw Loque i thought they would all be these magical looking animals, not ghosts. Ontop of that we just got a bunch of spiders? I love pets and I am not one of those people who is gonna trash on Blizzard for being unoriginal or something, but other than gem crab maybe, none of these guys seem new and fancy enough to be worth the effort into taming them. Maybe im crazy but someone else must feel this way.

I don't care for them, but for different reasons. The models themselves are okay, but I don't want spiders or crabs and have my spirit beast: Gondria.

I love taming rares too, over half my pets are rare spawns, i just wish that spirit beasts felt more like animals than ghosts. Like that Zombie Bear, he seems like he would make a much better spirit beast than like another ghost cat

The only one that I really want is Skarr. Not only does it look cool, but I want to have one.. and name it after my late-kitty... That's a whole other story though.. but it's a lot bigger than just "my cat died " which is a huge deal to begin with. I may post it when I successfully tame her

I'm totally with you on the spirit beasts. Even skoll at least had additional effects, and lightning, and all that. Although.. I AM still in love with my Sparkles the sparkley crab... I'd be more inclined to collects others I think if they weren't simply recoloured translucent old models.. They're pretty.. yes... But do I really NEED 5 different translucent pets that all do the same thing? 3 of which are the same model and just different colours? Not really... The spiders are kind of cool looking... An orange one might be neat, but not the yellow-orange blizz often uses.. a nice bright orange.. mmm..

I don't know.. They're more unique than other pets... I mean, from what I've heard people have been wanting a gem cat for a while... the crab is pretty neat too. I'm largely disappointed with the 2 spirit beast cats... At least the spiders are a new thing for now too... but.. It's almost like blizz got lazy.. heh.

Anyway, I am not jumping up and down in excitement over them. I'm glad Blizzard put them in and gave us some good taming challenges, but I'm in no hurry to level my hunters up to tame most of these.

I don't really care for the new pets either. I have a full stable as it is (including every pre 4.2 spirit beast in my stable), and none of the 3 new ones really jump out at me and say "tame me". The "hot rod" spiders are ok, but not worth releasing a pet I already have over. And I have no real interest in the "gem skin models".

I also agree with you that the Spirit Beast has become overly ghostly. There was nothing wrong with that early on, but it would be nice to see something different. One thing they could do is start adding fossilized skins to the Spirit Beast family, like the fossilized raptors and fossilized wind serpents. That would spice it up a bit I think.

Point being in my post, and I'm sorry if I failed to make it, was I wasn't interested in some of them, but now that I got Banth, I'm more then a little impressed. Give them a try, or keep an eye out for them with other hunters, you might find yourself actually liking them.

And I am a little bummed on the bulk of them just being a rainbow of spiders. I can't see a poin tin taming that many spiders, personally, I would have wanted different creatures perhaps.

No, you're certainly not the only one who isn't interested in them and that's fine. I won't be taming any of them myself either, but I know quite a few people are excited. :)

I'm not even going to touch the Gondria vs. Magria/Ankha argument though, because that was beaten into the ground and bickered over for a loooooong time and I'm tired of going back over it. While I believe the ghostly pets have merit and are just as(if not more to some people) loveable as their corporeal counterparts, I do agree that I'd like to see some solid ones too and maybe some less-recognized species(specieses, lol).

Everyone has different taste! Regardless of how many new rares there are, if none of them is your cup of tea, there's nothing wrong with that and you're definitely not alone.

I think it was less about the fact that there are ghostly pets and more that there are more ghostly pets compared to solid ones, although you do have a good point. Then again, the ghost jormungar is still a worm and the ghost saber is still a cat, so really it boils down to what Blizzard considers 'spirit beast' material - and as we've seen, being traditionally spirity isn't a requirement.

Yeah there is NO way I'm dumping 10 pets. There's no reason to have all the Madexx colors, no reason to have all the spiders either. But hey that's just my opinion Now if some of the models weren't recolors or gondria 2 and 3 I'd maybe consider, but for now I've only got my sights set on Banny, Skarr, crab faise and Deth.

I always took spirit beasts to be more spiritual. As in otherworldly. As I believe Skoll, loque, and gondria were the first.. I had though blizzard meant the family to be for uniquely skinned/modeled pets.. but apparently not.

This argument would otherwise be completely solid.. except I must say that while the 'spirit' thing indeed is something different in the pet family and fits their given name.. the effect is terrible graphics-wise. I mean, seriously. You see the polygons overlap each other and sometimes you can see the texture through from "wrong" angles. (Like Arcturis' face.. Gondria/Magria/Ankha eyes.. Banthy's face. etc.) Now, I don't hate on any of the wispy SBs but I would definitely like to see more of the solid colour + fancy special effect (Loque/Skoll) type of SB come into play some point in the future. Which I believe is a similar sentiment from other players who feel this way. But I've seen these cat models being in WMW for quite a while now and people have been requesting them, so in that sense I'm very glad they were put in now rather than never. Someone somewhere is very happy today and that alone makes my day better!

Being an animator/3D modeler myself, that "polygony overlap" just stings my eye. That's my personal problem with it though and I totally understand that there's people out there with different tastes that love the see through effect and I respect that. No problem. I just think, like I've seen others express too, that we've filled our see-through SB quota for now? I don't think Skoll and Loque are any less spirity even though they're not ghostly.

That being said, I probably replace my poor stable-stuck Gondria with Magria sometime soon. I'm not interested in the spiders at all.

I'm not super excited either, although I will probably tame Banny for my SB collection. (which just got extended now ugh XD now I have 2 to find instead of 1) I am going to tame Dante though, no resisting that

And yes, I don't really like the ghosty part of Spirit Beasts, which is one reason I'm probably going to abandon my Gondria and perhaps Arcturis, because they are too... well, too unsolid. That's one reason why I love Loque and would love Skoll (except I'm not a fan of worgs).

I honestly like the new spirit beasts, although I'm an oddball who got all 5 Madexxes (I think I lost part of my sanity in that desert). I only want a couple of the spiders though.

I think the others are cool, but I'm kinda torn - many people would like a few other somethings besides spiders.

I've not really gotten overly excited either. I was highly disappointed when I found out that the two new spirit beasts were only recolors of Gondria. I'm sorry, but that seems like a cheap way of Blizz saying 'We want you to have more options with SBs, but we're just giving you color options instead of shiny unique models." Every Spirit Beast up to these had their own unique model, save for Karoma, but we all know why he shares a model with the Grimtotem Guide. Ban is ok, but he's just a shinier version of Olm, and I like my Olm, plus the light trails on his wings just look like they'd be more of a hassle in combat then they are worth.

I would LOVE the purple spider, but right now, to me, his tame challenge is just too insane and I have too many alliance griefers on my realm for me to even attempt this. IF I even thought I would stand a chance against her. I'll just be happy with my Jadefang on that front. The only one that has gotten my attention at all has been Skarr and only because I've lusted after that skin for a good long while. So, until then. I'm quite content with the SBs that I have.

I'm still afraid they are gonna use those alt Skoll skins as more SBs in furture runs. I don't want more Gondrias and Skolls. I'd love to see raptors and snakes and what have you that don't already have a SB kin to their model family.
