Kuraine's Pet Hunting Journal/Picture Thread!

Unread post by Kuraine »

I decided to go against remaking my story. Since it would eventually get difficult to think of something unique and special for every single tame. So instead, I'm keeping a kinda journal in the form of pictures, because everyone knows screenshots are fun! I also bumped up the quality of the screenshots, which by default look rubbish, but now look a decent bit better to go nicely with my WoW graphics on ultra, since my computer is nice to me like that.

Anyway. This doesn't have to be just my 'journal'. Feel free to post pictures of your pets or even just anything exciting! But remember to either resize your screenshots before posting, like I'm doing, or just use links instead so that massive screenshots don't take over the thread.

Anywho, before I go on and post pictures of the lovely-dovely rare I tracked down this morning, here's a nice one of Kuraine and her pet wolf, Fidelis. (Which means 'faithful' in Latin.)

He is the one that barks when you click on him of course. It's so adorable. (And a little bug who got in the picture too.)

A good few hours last night were spent camping for Sambas, with my boyfriend lingering around the very northern spawn point for me. Nothing happened and I got tired, so I went to bed. I'd parked myself on the very southern-most spawn point. When I logged on the next morning at that spot, I flew past all the spawn points, up on to the north one. Nothing to be seen. As to be expected, really. I felt like I was in for a long day. But instead of sitting around at the north spawn point for a little while like I would normally do, I headed straight back south again. I didn't really know why I did it, but just as I was passing the first spawn point from where I'd come from, I saw something in the corner of my eye. Something golden and it looked jus-- Sambas! There he was!

I'd had him cached in my NPC Scan so the scanner wouldn't go off, but I almost regret that now. Everyone who's used NPC Scan Overlay knows how unreliable it can be. I just assumed that the locations marked on the map were actually correct.

I'll never make that mistake again, because if I hadn't stopped flying to have a proper look around at that one spot, I probably never would have seen him. He'd spawned just a little further away than where the map marked the spawn point as, so I wasn't really expecting him to spawn where he did. And no doubt that on my first fly through I'd probably flown right past him and never even seen him.

So, lucky me, or lucky me?

Image

And what a beauty he is. I'm glad I managed to get him with not much hassle.

And here's a screenshot I took right afterwards, in Eye of the Storm. Apparently I couldn't wait for the patch so that pets and mounts are together all the time, so I entered a BG and I like how the Winged Guardian and Sambas seem to fit together.

If only I was Alliance, I could then have access to the Golden King and that would've been a PERFECT match!

Today, while doing my weekly run of Karazhan for the mount, I remembered a pet I'd had my eye on for a while but never got around to finding, mostly because I knew it was in Karazhan and assumed it would be difficult to get to, so I never bothered. So I decided today would be the day to hunt him down, and it turns out the bad boy I'd had my eye on for so long was barely five minutes into the raid! My boyfriend had also tagged along for that run for some good luck, and he helped me clear a path towards my new puppy.

And after finally getting there and taming the one I wanted, I squeed with joy at how tiny he was! I forgot how small demon dogs were!

I even let my boyfriend name him. But I knew the moment I decided to let him do that, he'd name it something silly. And so, my fierce but tiny little demon dog was blessed with the name...

... Squibble.

Squibble is an adorable name for a ferocious hound of hell! And it beats Fluffy, which is now totally overused. ;)

It was either going to be Squibble or Stitch, but I thought even Stitch is kinda overused, and EVERYONE would know what that's a reference to.

Plus, when I went ahead and Googled 'Squibble', one of Urban Dictionary's many weird descriptions for it was something about the movement of hips you make when you're happy, such as when a dog wags it's tail when it's happy. So that just makes my Squibble a happy little guy. ^^

Spent a good portion of my day today looking for Karoma. I end up distracted by a Tol Barad and then a Baradin Hold run, and right after I came out I decided to do one last check for Karoma before popping on to my alt to do more leveling. My one last check for the evening resulted in success!

Also I flew around to see if Sambas was up and he was. Took a good few whispers to get a hunter to come and tame him, for some reason no one seemed to want him.

And today I snagged myself one of the new 4.2 pets, Magria! She's one of six of the new rares I want - Ankha, Magria, Ban'thalos, Kirix, Deth'tilac and Skarr.

I didn't even have to camp for her. Usually I prefer camping cause it makes it feel more worth it in the end, but I'd just finished the Thrall questline and thought I'd fly over for a look. Of course I had serious doubts there would be anything there, since the place is usually crowded as hell, so you'll never believe how shocked I was to see Magria run by. I wasn't going to let this chance go by! I panicked, of course. I wasn't even in BM spec. Luckily I have a 'Nekkid' macro though, so I hit that, changed spec and tamed her. She only got me to half health or so. By god am I proud of this tame, I never expected in a million years to get her as soon as I did!

Just got the Spectral Wolf from Tol Barad, finally I have both the mounts from there. And just look at how nicely him and Karoma look besides each other!

I was feeling pretty depressed after seeing Deth'tilac killed in front of me, yet I continued to camp for Ankha. I didn't think much would come out of it after tonight's unlucky situation, so I expected to either find Magria again or go to bed tonight empty handed. But I won't be. I was sitting watching a YouTube video with a -.- face on, when suddenly NPC SCAN WAR DRUMS! Quickly flicked back to the game and she was in front of me. I think she'd just spawned, as she wasn't even moving yet. She'd spawned up near the top of her path where there aren't any mobs, which I thought was a nice place to camp as well. I was also camping naked so that all I would have to do is target her and tame. And so tonight has suddenly vastly improved for me.

Kirix. He's mine. And there's a story behind him.

I was headed back up to the top of the Molten Front after doing the dailies and doing the achievement 'King of the Spider-Hill' when I spotted a hunter I knew who's been camping Skarr a while. I was heading up there with the intention of getting Skarr as well, but not a minute after I got there, Karkin spawned. The hunter already had Karkin, and I've no interest in him. We waited a bit, no one turned up, so yes, we killed him just so that something else could spawn a bit faster. Since Skarr obviously wasn't going to spawn for a while, I decided to camp for the only other rare I wanted that I hadn't gotten yet, Kirix. The hunter camping Skarr told me that he'd been online all night and not seen a Kirix spawn since when I helped Douche McBaggery tame it yesterday. Which means it had been nearly 17 hours since a spawn. I thought this was the best time for me to camp him, and there was barely anyone else around, so I did.

Not half an hour into camping, an Alliance druid turns up. She stands in front of me for a bit, as I'm camped at the time on the old rock Skarr used to spawn on. I greet her with a 'hearty hello' and then I can see her changing specs, going Boomkin form. Yep, she was going to gank me and I knew it, so I camouflaged on my rock and hid. She climbed up the rocks to the other side, obviously going to look for me. I jumped down below when she couldn't see me and camouflaged again to trick her. It was fun at first, but she wasn't going to leave. After she eventually spotted me and chased after me, I relogged to my Worgen rogue and asked why she was there. She said the usual shit: "You're a Hordie so I'm ganking for fun and I'm trying to help a friend." Trying to help a friend tame a rare who wasn''t even there himself? That's just lazy. So I logged back over and there was no sign of her for a while. I ran around a few times and found her stealthed. I killed her and she seemed to be AFK. After that, I never saw her again. Thank god.

Minutes after killing her and running around to the spot Kirix spawns at, he spawned. Not knowing whether the druid was still around or not, of course I panicked. Trying to remember the tactic, I hit tame and got ready to disengage. I took a lot of damage in one hit - Crap! Forgot to put my AotW buff up. Ran back to my corpse, ressed, tried again. Disengaged off the cliff, of course. Ressed again. Still no sign of the druid or anyone else at all. I calmed myself down and got ready. Tame, got hit back. Disengage, deterrence, tame! And it worked. I was just about dead when he was finally tamed, one more hit off him and I would've been dead. But I'm not. And here he is. And I love him...

Was flying over to do a Firelands trash run, thought I'd check for Terrorpene along the way. There he was, untamed and untagged. ;)

Sooo... Just when I thought I was a leet super awesome, rare catching hunter... My boyfriend goes and proves me wrong. How? I couldn't bloody get to Ban'thalos. When he spawned above my head (Was JUST about to log for bed.) as I was sat on the pillar, I just flew up, tagged him from as low down as I could, and died. I just couldn't fall down with enough health left to make it. So boyfriend flies over asap and tags him for me, him being a priest, he was able to fall down safely. I lay a trap down... but that fails as well. Ban moonfires my man to death and then turns on me, but doesn't moonfire. He just attacks me normally and I had just enough time to get in the tame before he could moonfire me again. So Ban'thalos is all thanks to my boyfriend. Technically, this is his pet, not mine. :P
