After finally bagging Ban'thalos and Ankha I finally finished off the last dailies to get into the Molten Front. I then proceeded to run back and forth between there and Orgrimmar having forgotten to clear stable space and make a MM spec for Skarr and Karkin. Burning myself by not quite paying attention to the fire (ow) I got up to the rocks where Skarr and Karkin spawn.
About 20 minutes pass and I'm chatting with a fellow hunter also on the prowl for the new rares. She's jealous cos she's only got Solix so far. I was still debating which one of the spiders to keep, my original decisions being Deth'tilac and Solix when who pops up? Kirix. My friend and I both sit there for a while debating what to do, my friend having had Kirix stolen from her yesterday I invited her to try first. We alternated attempts and kept on dying. A couple of minutes later 2 alliance hunters joined in too, making it quite nerve-wracking.
During the commotion Skarr spawns directly beneath the rock I'm standing on. The other hunters were dead so I helped myself to him... Or tried to, one of the Alliance hunters used Distracting shot to steal him and got himself thoroughly burned. By this time 2 other hunters, one horde, one alliance, had turned up in an attempt to snag them. I finally managed to grab Skarr (I'd forgotten to change spec for Silencing Shot and was forced to run away and feign, d'oh!) and all of us took it in turns attempting, and failing, to tame the green spider. In the end it was me who figured out the best timing for Deterrance, plus a potion of speed, and eventually tamed him. Most everyone exept my friend left immediately. One alli stood still for a while targetting me before leaving.
Problem time: I hadn't intended to tame Kirix! But after the 5th death it had become personal. My friend didn't mind, she's just happy he got tamed by a friend. But now I'm undecided. I only wanted one spider and don't know whether to hunt the others down or stick with Kirix. I guess I'll find out soon enough how much I like him.
No screenies cos it was too hectic
