A tale of 7 Magrias (Update: And 1 Ankha! <3)

I've now found homes for SEVEN Magrias on my server in my long, arduous, desperate camping of Ankha.

Really? What are the odds? Every Horde hunter on Malfurion that I know is now the proud owner of a Magria that I found, and so are a couple of random strangers, since I ran out of hunter friends to come tame her. Seems I'm destined to camp Magria for the entire server.

I've lost track of the total amount of time I've spent camping--sitting at my computer, parked at the spawn location near the Firelands portal--since the patch dropped. At least 60 hours, with minimal (3-5 hours per night, often in 30 min-1 hour increments) sleep. The one and only time that my NPCScan picked up Ankha instead of Magria, I was taking a 5 minute bio, and when I returned to the computer, Ankha had been tamed by a worgen hunter.

I really can't do anything but laugh at how ridiculous this is. I feel like I should go buy a lotto ticket with the kind of odds that I'm beating here. This whole "camp 12+ hours and then maybe you get a coin toss for whether it was worth anything" business kinda sucks. >.< Wtb separate spawn timers for future Spirit Beasts, please, Blizzard.

One of my hunter friends suggested that we call ourselves "The Order of the Blue Cat." It's one great big Magria party. The silver lining--I have good friends. None of them are competing to tame Ankha if she ever does spawn, they've all been super supportive and helped me camp the Regrowth, shared any info they have about timers, and spent hours chatting with me and comforting me each time another Magria spawns. So thank you to them. And surely I'm storing up a lot of good karma by helping so many people tame the pretty blue cat, right? Right? It's got to pay off eventually?

I finally got my Ankha, but it was hell... only twice I know of that she has spawned yet, found several Magria's tho.. but Ankha is a pretty shy one.

Its the opposite on my Realm. Ive only seen Anhkas so far. Strange how those things work isnt it?

So yesterday I "gave up." After another mostly-sleepless night, and then an all-morning camp, my fiance wanted to get some lunch together. I left the computer for an hour, and Ankha spawned while I was gone. I was feeling pretty crushed. After about 65 hours of camping, to miss her twice by such a narrow margin... I had a major case of "it's not fair."

So I decided that I couldn't keep wasting whole days of my life for a cat that my or may not spawn even if I devote a straight 24 hours to the camping. I took the rest of the day off, spent some time with my fiance, tried to get my mind off Ankha.

Night time rolled around, and despite promising myself that I wouldn't lose any more sleep over her, I found it hard to drift off. Every 30 mins or so, I would find myself thinking "well, I'm still awake.. might as well wiggle my character so I'll hear NPCScan if it goes off in the next half hour." This went on until about 4:00 in the morning, when I FINALLY got exhausted to the point that I actually fell asleep.

And then about 4:30, NPCScan's war drums woke me up. I nearly killed myself stumbling across the room in the dark to get to my computer, the whole time my mind just screaming over and over "Please not Magria, please not Magria." Flipped the monitor on, and THERE WAS ANKHA, at the spawn point near the Firelands portal, walking right toward me.

Finally! This was the longest, most painful rare camp I've ever endured. I've been a walking zombie on 3-5 hours of interrupted (30 min-1 hour increments) sleep per night. I'm not even sure if I can say "it was worth it," because honestly I probably should have switched to "casual camping mode" days ago and quit torturing myself. But I AM so, so, so happy that I finally got her. She's gorgeous, my new favorite pet for sure. I named her Lynxie, after my feral kitty druid.

LOL I know what you mean. I don't 'camp' rares but the 4.2 SB have gotten me to do short camps and only when I gave that up and went on some BGs runs with my bro/guildie did a casual sweep give me Ankha. I also ended up naming her (him?) after my druid kitty.

(Question where is Mag's spawn point/s? I've heard the upper Regorwth in general.)

Magria and Ankha share that spawn point at the base of the hill to the Firelands portal, right near the yellow tree. I know this because I watched Magria spawn there 7 times before Ankha finally decided to grace me with her presence!

They may also have another spawn point further down in the Regrowth, but near the Firelands portal is where I camped, and where I always saw them spawn.

I'm not sure the new spirit beast are in my NPCscan. Mine is current and up-to-date. I saw on Petophia the NPCscan numbers were X0012, X0011, etc....but when I tried to enter the X0012, the 'x' wouldn't go in there. Can you give me the numbers I need to put in for the spirit beast or where I can get them?

P.S. I'm glad you got your kitty I think I've helped Horde and Alliance alike taming Skarr and the crab. I don't have them in NPCscan either.

i am haveing the exact opposite problem. i am trying to find magria and i have camped it 9 times in the ast week and a half for a total of 82 hours. found ankha 6 times and found homes for 5 of them, 2 of my camps were cut short 8 hours after the 6 hour no pawn time on the cats be server restarts, and one of the camps i was camping and i realized after 11 hours of camping after the 6 hour no spawn time that i had forgotten to clearn ankha from the npc scan cache and that he had spawned and been tamed while i was afk 7 hours into the camp . its like a have a can of magria repelented stuff up my as...nose. u know what they say 10th times the charm lol /cry.

I have to say on Dethecus, we are seeing both cats. I have noticed Ankha more but we are still seeing a few Magria in there! It's almost getting to the point we are having trouble rehoming them We are on a low population server.

Aww. I got Magria the other day! Now im waiting for Ankha. Then my Spirit Beast collection is Finished! I dont have Ban'Thalos yet. Or Ghostcrawler. Or Karoma. But atleast soon i have the pet collection i want the most thought
