Good intentions pave the road to hell

Unread post by Julian »

22:10 Deth'tilac spwaned on Nagrand, after few minutes kiting, sacrificing pets, and everything I found on this forum today, the spider is down to very low hp, tame begins and druid shouted "invite" and charged. Deth'tilac killed her and himself, people around explained it doesnt drop loot and is ment for hunters and she said "Sorry, wanted to help".

To put rares in this area is same if they put them in the middle of SW/Orgrimar, just too many people and very accident prone.

I just had a druid kill the owl on me thinking the same thing. When he asked in general why no epic he got berrated by the many people throwing heals at me trying to help. I was very disappointed.

You'll get her, hang in there! A shame that happened, though--I was REALLY worried the same would happen in my tame.

If my druid was 85 I'd offer to help & root, but alas

I blame the wrath era for people being so blind to rares. Their eyes glaze over thinking "OMG, RARE, OMG, LOOT". I stopped a BElf Mage the other day from killing Ankha for this same reason. They see a rare and automatically think that they are about to get some kind of epic lootz. I applaud Blizzard for having a soft spot in their heart for us, but I think the damage has already been done and is going to take a long time to reverse it.

Keep at it, Hun. I know that feeling of watching a tame die right before your eyes. I had to watch Krush die three times myself before he finally got a breather long enough to follow me home.

Unfortunately, genuinely not knowing is very rare now that patch notes, wowhead, MMO champ, etc almost all post and include tamable rares. Too many people just see rare and go LOOOOOOOOOTS despite people screaming STOP! NO! If like 6 dudes beg you to stop, then there *might* be a compelling reason to stop.

Just to play a little devils advocate here, but, doesn't this just prove how little the community reads patch notes? So many people slam and give anyone like said druid above so much hassle, which is really to be honest not totally fair. If only people had a bit more understanding, don't get me wrong, it sucks. The best we can do is educate them and hope they help in the future.

Better luck next time :)

Not reading patch notes is one thing. Ignoring several people going 'NO! STOP!' when you charge at and start hitting something is another. Too many of us do politely tell people like this that the rares drop nothing, blah blah only to watch them charge into the mob. :/

Also, I sincerely doubt anyone chews these people out. Most of us go: Why did you do that? It's a tamable rare, it drops nothing.

At least, that's my usual response. Or 'The heck dude?'

Sometimes I get an apology. More often I get 'lol rare had to kill it :D'. I really wish they would put up a blinky sign or a tag or something.

My bf tried to rehome Karoma one time. He got a hunter to fly all the way out there (who had a BM spec, mind you) to tame her, and even told the dude it was a spirit beast just to have the hunter say he couldn't tame the beast and kill it even though my bf explained everything to him. Some people are genuinely dumb/ignorant/innocent/what have you.

Anyway, best of luck to ya OP, it'll spawn again for you. :)

*hugs*

We actually had a good number of people turn up for a Deth'tilac tame after the taming hunter announced she was trying to tame in general. ....yeah, NOT the best idea. I spammed in general chat a few times that 1) we weren't killing 2) everyone needed to BACK OFF at 20% 3) if you got roots, use 'em. Even though the original hunter didn't get Deth, Deth did get tamed, which was nothing short of a miracle, IMO. He was under 10%.

TL;DR: There's just no telling who's going to be involved with these sorts of situations. All you can do is inform as many people as you can as clearly (and quickly) as possible and hope for the best.

Thank goodness people on my server today had read patch notes.
